A log of places and experiences visited by a father and son.
We intend to explore places that don't often get a mention on tourist guides whenever possible, but not exclusively ... We'll travel by motorcycle, car, public transport, bicycle and if lucky, by plane and whenever possible, we'll give our drone a fly to capture a birds-eye view.

So much to explore in Croatia that I have to come back again this year for a few more months
Ne sviđa mi se taj grad...jedan od najružnijih na našoj obali...realno
The lake nearby is very spectacular !
The Hotel Marina lucica is build 1971 IT was one of the bigest Hotels on the adriatic Coast IT was closed 1991
It must of looked spectacular back in it's day
My Profil ist the entrance of the Hotel
Moved to Mopo 3 years ago and live about 8 minutes walk from the station, so am very familiar with it. The toilets are usually open during the day I think. Great history and tour, keep it up! Would also recommend Carosello (no I'm not in anyway associated with it lol) for an Italian feed.
thanks, most appreciated - it's an amateur production but a fun hobby I enjoy
Thank you very much 🌸
Thank you I enjoyed watching

I loved vfl or artic park as I called it the only bad thing was the car park especially in winter and public transport
It wasn't much fun for us kids that went there early to set-up then sell pies and coke in the stands ... it didn't last long and we sort better ways to generate some pocket money over the weekend.
Thank you nice work. I believe the old Walhalla station building now stands at Hartwell RS Camberwell.
yep, sure is 👍
I've never seen that and My family lived there for a few years The mens sleeping quarters and kitchen have gone out the back. My sister cooked for them in 79.
Lived there in 1979, my father was a driver. My last year of schooling was in Kaniva. Have some great memories from there on the short time l was there. Dad got a transfer to Bairnsdale a few years later. The refreshment room was a popular place for locals to meet. I would often visit the station and spend time in SM rooms and sneak cigarettes to smoke away from house. We lived on corner of South and Elisabeth St, sadly house has gone. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
wow what a great story - Bairnsdale would be a complete change of environment ... This is the link to the interior of Serviceton ... ruclips.net/video/pz0Qc18iW6w/видео.html
I grew up in Arthur's Creek, and it will always be Gods Country to me.
very much an ambient sleepy hollow of a town 👍
The chapel is on Trawalla Estate. The shearers quarters are also brick.
Similar design to some used in WW2, the turrets had 37mm guns.
I do recall some movies featuring them 👍
Awesome find! Definitely a diesel loco in the centre with 4 exhaust stacks. The raised section of the roof covers the dynamic braking fans at the rear of the loco leaving enough gap for the hot air to escape. That the sides slope inwards suggest it is not a full body loco beneath the armour but one with walkways along each side similar style to US GP and SD freight locos. Engineers have vision access forward and to the rear on either side within the short vertical body side sections where the cab is, towards the front of the loco.
wow ! you know your trains
The music is annoyingly loud grating on one's ears.
Boundary rd
you've kicked a goal 👍
i think the middle car is for who or what the cars either side are protecting. a locomotive needs to see where its going and an exhaust for the engine or pantograph or side shoe to pick up electricity. the loco that went with this set is probably now pulling trains without its tough protection.
I thought it might have been the diesel engine - pushing and pulling the carriages either end ! 🤔
❤❤❤❤❤
Terrific small coastal Village
6:10 Tram Number 1041 is the Prototyp of the new Z Class trams. As it was clear that trams in Melbourne would stay in 1970, there was a need for new trams. This based on the tram modells from Göteborg Sweden und this tram started running 1973. Mainly it ran from the terminus at the corner oft Spencer and Bourke Street to Brunswick Street. This tram had the old motor units from the W class. The later Z class trams had motor units from AEG Telefunken from germany. These were standard tram units in this time in a lot of cities in Europe. Tram 1041 was then withdrawn from service in 1977 after the Z1 class trams started in in 1976.Z class trams where the first trams in Melbourne with a heating system.
for the love of trams - thanks for the information 👍

do you have permission to enter a private property?
Under certain conditions you don't need permission to enter onto private land - one needs to understand trespass law in Victoria and the myth that your home is a fortress
Back in 1964, I just obtained by Drivers' Licence, in June of that year and in December that year, I bought my first new EH Holden Station Wagon (Standard Version) from Momsens Holden at Nepean Highway Chelsea, Vic, for the cost of *£1,032.00.00.* Regitered No: JDL 10I. I remember picking that car up on Saturday 12 December 1964. I was told to take the car to the Golden Fleece Service Station in Chelsea, and Momsens who operated the Service Station gave me *£1.00.00* worth of petrol as a new car owner. That Quid's worth of petrol almost filled the tank. Thereafter, I always filled my car at the Golden Fleece Chelsea, putting in 10 Shillings worth of Petrol and on off pay weeks, I would put in about 5 Shillings worth of petrol that got me to work and back for a week (Bonbeach to Mordialloc). In February 1966, Mum dad and I decided to go for a trip to Canberra. My parents had a young daughter whom I was smitten with. En route to Canberra, we stopped off at the Golden Fleece Service Station at Wangaratta for fuel and breakfast. We filled the car up and had a full breakfast that cost us *£1.11.06. We then proceeded on to Gundagai NSW arriving there around 1.30 pm, and stayed at the TV Motel Gundagai. The cost for the three of us was One Guinea (£1.01.00) that included a full breakfast. That was a great little motel and the last it was still there in the late 1990s when I drove past. What fantastic memories I have of those GF Service Stations. In 1968, I married and decided to live in Canberra. The bride and I did visit my parents frequently, driving down from Canberra to Bonbeach every third weekend, and then driving back to Canberra. in 1969 I traded my EH in at Russell Franz motors Mentone, for a Morris 1100. Now that was a brilliant car. It was so economical, it ran on the smell of my wife's nail polish. The Hydrolastic suspension gave the car a luxury feel; soft and comfortable with excellent cornering capabilities. Occasionally on long week ends, my parents in law joined my wife and I for trips to Melbourne. I remember always stopping off at the Golden Fleece Service Station at Wangaratta for fuel and food as it was like home to me. In fact, I forgot to say the bride and I were married in Melbourne and after a short honeymoon, we took off for Canberra, stopping at (you guessed it) the *Golden Fleece Station at Wangaratta.* That Morris 1100, gave me incredible mileage. We'd leave Bonbeach with a full tank of fuel, and got to the GF station at Wangaratta, where I would fill up and the cost was $2.00 (every time I filled up at Wang). that fill at Wang got ups to Canberra with about a gallon left in the tank. That car was so cheap to run. I feel quite sad now that each time we drove past the former Golden Fleece at Wangaratta, it was closed. What beautiful memories we had, It will be our 57th Wedding anniversary on 28 September 2025. The family are now all grown up with kids of their own; so it is back to just the bride and I at home these days. It is my intention to drive up to Wang before these sod's tell me I am too old to drive, and make a nostalgic trip top the old Golden Fleece Station where I had such wonderful memories of my parents, who are now long departed, and the trips with my beautiful wife all those year ago. Cheers! 🏴🇬🇧🇦🇺
Very hard to watch with the turning photos. I could not watch it after a few minutes. I have visited the Maryborough railway station.

yes , well worth the effort and a meal at the pub !
Thanks so much -- my father went there in the 1950's!
My Auntie was a teacher at Smeaton in the 1970s/early 80s. My Grandfather was a headmaster at Creswick in the early 1960s.

My father had a Beetle from 1967 made in Australia and later on ein VW Passat Station Wagen from 1975 also made in Australia. The Country Buggy was not just the same as the VW 181 or the Thing sold in other countries, but they look quite similar. Volkswagen started the producation in Australia because of a great demand and import fees. About 1970 the factory was not full at work. The cars from Japan, like Toyota, Honda and Mazda started there run to Australia. At the end Volkswagen germany had a big debit with this factory in Australia.
interesting ... always curious about why VW left but Bosch stayed on.
As a kid in in the 1970 i was at Spencer Street Station many times. There was a Café on the frist floor and you had a good look over the station. Today this station ist not a nice place to stay
I have to agree, it would appear that a certain group within society have moved from the Flinders Street Station to the Southern Cross forecourt and surround with anti-social behaviour often on display
Not abandoned more land bank by a property developer got to keep the price of sections up
totally agree and maybe they're waiting for rezoning
Kata,matite
Great video, but just wondering why the later pics (1975 onwards) were in black and white, not colour?
Maybe cheaper and one could have developed them at home in a darkroom...but l'm only guessing
When I was working on project in and around Melbourne’s West, near Tarniet there were a few still left. I even seen a sheep dip near the road side. That was around 2014. They would all have been knocked over by now?
You're definitely in the right area 👍
UPDATE - There will be a new video every 2 days to April 1 2025 and not until the end of January (I didn't realise I explored so much while touring !)
The Puckle Street tram ran until about 1950 and went down Mount Alexander Road to Monnie Ponds Junction.
thanks ... I wasn't 100% sure if a tram ever ran along Puckle Street 👍
Thank you for your video. I lived in Forrest as a young child about late 1959 to 1961/62? The town mill was operating then. I will give you excerpts from my "story." Forrest has forever remained within me... most joyous memories. Part of my "story"... "I leave our old wooden house and walk out into a silent, crisp, icy morning in the mid 20th century. Where are the birds? Too cold for them i wonder. Walking along the gravel road i breathe in the fresh scent of the eucalyptus trees and dream of what the future may hold for me. Arriving at the place where crossing the fence is easier i see dew laden silky cobwebs hanging, glistening, like crystal tears off the rusty barbwire fence." Finally at the school crossing with the sun higher and warmer now my friend picks small colorful "Xmas" spiders off the "egg and bacon" shrubs. We let them walk across our hands and gently place them back on the branches. We are ready for a busy, yet fun day at our tiny schoolhouse in the Otway Ranges. Most of us children were very aware of nature and of ourselves in the the late 1950's. I remember with fondness those days of such innocent fun so very long ago..." Cheers to you Aerial Explorer. Peace.
I'm glad you enjoyed it and brought back some memories 👍
@@urbanaerialexplorer1885 The memories have never left me... such the the love and fun Forrest instilled in me when a child. Lived in an old wooden house out of town, (creepy old long drop dunny/no electricity/tilley lamps at night/open fire etc etc) Walked to school along a gravel road and crossed over a fence through the lush paddock. (shortcut.) The timber mill had a waste wood fire pit and the smoke combined with the fresh cut logs smelt similar to bread baking. Us youngsters had no tv or electronics but learnt much about life from "the oldies" and they instilled in me this... If you have a roof over your head, food in your stomach and a dry bed you are indeed a lucky person. In a nutshell this means i am happy to live in a mansion or a rough hewn wooden house and be satisfied. A mansion would be nice to own but winning a substantial lotto prize eludes me. LOL Goodbye, cheers and good fortune to you in 2025. Peace.
