Rode the train from Spencer St to Wodonga and Albury countless times in the 70's and 80's
Caught the Spirit of Progress either way, it stopped only at Albury.
The Intercapital Daylight Express stopped at Wodonga.
I have fond memories of departing the train at Wodonga on a warm summer's evening, smelling the grass/hay that was being cut and hearing the EMD electric diesels pull away from the station. Wodonga was a farming town in those days.
Stops at Seymour where we got off the train to get refreshments from the cafeteria.
The wonderful cafeteria cars on some of the trains, all polished stainless steel, pots of tea and toasted sandwiches heaven.
Rode on some trains with red rattler carriages in which First class still had leather seats and you could open the windows.
My mother rode the Cudgewa train up to Shelley
    Those were the days.

Former Wodonga Trainee engineman here. The ICD did not stop at Wodonga. After leaving Albury it stopped at Wangaratta, Benalla then Spencer Street Station.I worked on this train many times when on Wodonga Depot A Roster.

      @@RichardFelstead1949 I sit corrected.
It is a long time ago and I am relying on my memory, or what is left of my memory.....
Do you remember what the train that stopped at Wodonga was called, it stopped at most/all stations and took the longest.
I caught that, the ICD and the S of P many times, never the Southern Aurora, which also used to stop at Albury.

It was the level crossing over the old Hume highway (before the bypass was built) was a major reason for moving the line. on the old eastern side of town was a large yard as well. Yes it’s a city. And Wodonga is really a satellite of Albury & was the support town when the army was a major presence.
And that is a typical Wodonga day in winter

2:51 between you and the building was where the standard gauge trains used to run.
