Most of the top magic finders are running this exact same strat now in T17 maps. If your build can run T17, you will get 10x better loot drops. (you dont need magic find gear). T17 mapping is the best way to go for maximum profit.
Disclaimer: In future GGG can shadow nerf stuff without a notice, to offset the economy. this has been very common this league. which is why a lot of content creators are frustrated.

Yeah like shado nerve on yellow lifeforce. They never upgrade with crop rotation and so on. I hate this tbh.

The nodes that increase the map tier (1-15) are still relevant for dropping more t16 maps due to the map equity system. While the t15 and below maps are blocked from dropping due to the voidstones making all maps on the atlas t16 they do still "drop" (without actually dropping on the ground) and count towards the next drop of a t16 map. So the higher the average tier of maps that you are dropping the faster it fills your map equity for your next t16 map drop
We tested with and without it on several maps. So I can guarantee you its not worth the points
@@soropoe that might be true, dunno how much the actual impact of them is in terms of drops compared to the points investment. The video makes it sound like they dont do anything at all tho (atleast i interpreted it that way). Maybe thats just me tho you dont really directly say it like that

@@soropoe How did you test it? PoE is a very random heavy game, so testing on less than 50 maps is probably not gonna give much in terms of validity
@@tacticaldot4396 You can probably count the amount of times non- T16 maps drop on one hand after a dozen maps if you have all the voidstones.
Like he said, this is optimized to cut out potentially wasted points. That's a large point investment for hardly anything tangible.
Higher map chance nodes does increase the map equity, i had the same question while doing a tree to farm 8 mod maps, people told me on reddit thar it increases the map equity.
I think you are wrong on not taking map tier upgrade on atlas tree. The way this works is - when an item drops it MIGHT be a map. if it is a map it then rolls its tier e. g. 1-16. if the tier it rolls has no maps on the Atlas, it is converted into a hidden form of currency. When you get enough of that hidden currency a map drop is forced for a valid tier of map on your Atlas.
a tier 1 map is worth less currency than a tier 2 map, and so on.
so having + tier bonuses will make more maps drop.

Hey Soro, wouldn't Cartography scarab of ascension be worth (maps found in area are a tier higher, up to tier 16) ? as it convert T15 to T16 then give them a chance to drop as T17 ?
The map nodes increase map equity until a T16 drops. Those nodes increase your number of T16 drops and thus t17s drops. Who knows whether it's worth it over getting more scarab nodes though
any data to prove it? i guess best way is to check ourselves then

GGG has explained and confirmed Map Equity System during many interviews with Josh as well as Ziz. Soro is a good chap but I think he and his group did a very small test and are giving out Wrong Stuff to the community. Poe Reddit has already posted about his video being factual incorrect. Maybe he means its worse for points invested but that is not what i understood.

Bro, I haven't tested the farm and I don't know if it's effective, but congratulations on the video, very well detailed, I'm Brazilian, the poe community in Brazil is very weak, you helped a lot!
Just ran 25 T16 Jungle Valley with 80-130% quant and 25-40% pack size, 7-8 modifiers (2x cartography, 1x adversaries, 1x traitors scarabs). Looking only at T17, T16, Scarabs, Coffins and Allflames since these are the main selling points of this guide, I am quite disappointed at how bad my loot was given that I had to re-spec my whole tree, and spent ~3hrs on this. In 25 maps, I only got 1 T17 map which is tragic, 1 additional item Coffin, and 0 notable Allflames. About 3-10 T16 maps per run, 7-20 Scarabs per run and 0-2 ~3c Coffins per run. If you are looking to earn currency from this, not a good idea. Otherwise, it's good for map sustain + scarabs, that's about it. Thanks for the guide though, but as a casual player at around 20m dps, I can get better loot doing other strats
I ran 50 maps with this strat and had similarly terrible results. I used exclusively 110%+. I understand RNG is RNG, but I think I actually lost money (had to buy my maps, no stock). My profit per run looked almost exactly like yours. I only found two t17 maps.

If this didn't work for you, what do you suggest then to drop more T17s? I mean there are other guides very similar to this where commenters are saying they are getting a T17 every other map. Maybe you and that other guy's characters are bugged or something.
@@down-the-rabbit-hole did like 50 crimson temples with this strat, 0 t17s. The problem with this strats aimed at maps is exactly what you are saying. I was getting like 5-10 t16 maps, but the chance for that to convert to t17 is 1.6%, so on average you'll get 1 t17 map in ~10 t16 maps. And so, for unlucky ones, it's perfectly normal to not get any in 50-100 maps.
@@balkeep yea I gave up POE weeks ago. Got sick of the sharp difficulty curve with T17s. Plus, only a few people are playing the game it seems. It's not any better than standard right now.
the stuff about 1-15 to higher tier node was already proven useless by our guild (once you get 4 watchstones).. good to see atleast 1 guy from mainstream mention it

max. for regular cart scarab is 2. cart scarab of duplication also 2.. or use any of the other ones mentioned

any of the ones mentioned in the video.. they all drop valuable t17s
I did the same atlas tree with the same scarab using 8MODMAP and the results were about 1 drop every 7 maps. This is not very tasty. Am I doing something wrong?
i think they shadow nerfed it. iw as getting them like crazy yesterday and i played all day today and its like one every 10 map it sucks

Fwiw I am getting about 1 every 5 maps, not running this at all, just shrines and niko since I'm not that strong. It really seems to be RNG.
@@oskitarc1097 not a nerf, just luck and statistics, it was always 1.6 chance for t16 to convert to t17. On average you'll get 1 t17 of 7 t16, it was always like that

Yes. Make sure to run 8 mod maps and the # of t17 maps you will drop will increase significantly

Well u can't put in league mechanic scarabs with it. Like you can't put an abyss scarab when u use it and so on.
Back to report this isn't nerfed, but I took the 1-15 map nodes instead of some +1 quant nodes. In fact, it's even more bonkers. I play on SSF and have trouble sustaining my fav map, but I am here to report that after 20 strands in a row, I have over 50 strands (average of 3 per map) and over 15x t17 maps. Chisel + Alc + Vaal and go plus 2x cart scarabs, 1x mysterious scarab and hunted traitors scarab. All in all, after 20 strands, from all the drops alone I have 17 divine worth of goodies. Takes about 1 minute 30 seconds each strand. This is over 30 div per hour. I also throw on whatever allflames I have. I don't care, I put 1-2 on per map. Tattoos, esh, wildwood, practically anything since i pick up all the allflames that drop and just use them next map. This is running about 50% of strands that didn't get 8 modded and failed on vaaling. If I took about 20 seconds longer to get the big ones this is probably easy 40-50 per hour.
Report 2: Just ran a jacked up 290 quant, 160 rarity with rats allflame on 3 monsters. Oh my god...jacked rewards. 7 strands, 2 fortresses, about 50 scarabs, 4 of them worth over .5 div each. And lots of other goodies. Must have made over 6-7 div just on that one map. I haven't tried without the 1-15 map nodes, but I think people are right, you should take them because with them I am getting loads and loads of maps including T17s. I would try the map duplication instead of traitors, but SSF and all that, I only have 17 of those.
idk tried different scarabs and run around 25 maps now only got 4 t17 maps. which feels very underwhelming.
Not to mention the gameplay video shows two maps dropping to a harbinger... WTF, can't even have league content, so no idea why his video shows gameplay from this. This setup sucks and is boring AF.
@@SWTORDREKKIN yeah I run around 40+ more maps with this setup closing some challenges in the end had 5 t17 maps +4 from first 30 maps. its as if Im just running some other strat and getting t17 random drops, same rate. Idk why it doesnt work like in the vid.

I haven't done extensive testing, but I definitely feel like the "chance to drop maps a tier higher" nodes are worth it, and the scarab too:
Cartography scarab of ascension: Maps found in area are a tier higher, up to tier 16
I have every map drop node on the tree, and 4 voidstones, yet I can still feel the effects of this scarab, I am easily dropping 10+ maps per map in 8 mod toxic sewers, with 2 carto scarabs, 1 map dupe, and a carto scarab of ascension. I think it is worth looking into it a bit more
Agreed. I'm running the same setup as you on 8 mod Crimson Temples and I drop a t17 about every 2 maps....sometimes more. And I have gotten several dupes as well as T17's dropped from the boss.

@@zeebpc I use 2 carto scarabs, 1 carto of ascension, and 1 carto of duplication. I also dropped Singular Focus, but otherwise kept all my +1 tier map nodes on the tree. I did a bunch of 8 mod Crimson Temples before bed. I got 4 T17's in one map. Several dupes as well. I was averaging 1 t17 per 1-2 maps. Easily.
@@fievelnoledo you use back to basics as well or eater altar? i saw palsteron doing that strat and he was using eater altar.
i have ran over 300 maps (312 to be exact) with using all the plus tier map nodes, and I dropped 119 tier 17s, running 2 carto scarabs and 1 hunted trator and 1 4 rare mirror packs. just posting for anecdotal reference. I'm not implying anything, just my experience.
at 3.30 about eater/exarc altars why you say u dont pick doest matter cause they CANT roll with back to basics aniway....rest is good

Today I tested 40 maps with Scarab 2 cartography+ 2 Duplication. The map actually has very few monsters, so very few map drops. I cleared the map with about 10 monsters left and only got 13 t17 maps :(
2:41 - there is no cap on that modifier, the way things work it still makes you drop more t16s and therefore t17s.
then why is it written upto t15?
@@rubberduckie5520 because if it was written 1-16 that meant you could get a almost 100% chance of every t16 you drop to upgrade to a t17 . That text implies every map tier 1-15 get a % chance to +1 its tier when dropping

i tried both of your last video routes.. first one i managed to lose 35 div XD this one is not strong to make some $. you are 80% on luck. i run 40 8 mod jungle valleys map with it and get 6 t17 1 raw div and some garbage scrabs. i like your channel but this is not worth my time iguess

Hardly got profit with this strat. Eater's altars give much more T17 drops, Back to Basic is crap, don't waste your time
how you getting T17's from eaters altars?, this basic strats giving me nothing, low tier scarabs and T8 maps, even when im running T16
