That’s what really sets this album aside from what they made afterwards. Crossing boundaries and taking risks is what makes this album so unique, everything after this just hops on the nu metal train of the late 90’s with tiny twists here and there, and nowadays the sound it has (not that it’s bad) just kinda doesn’t really keep any raw and risky aspects, thus removing it of a lot of its personality and uniqueness.
@@manicmamc291 I honestly don't like much of their music past All Hope is Gone.. There's a few good songs here and there, but the rest just sounds so generic. I didn't really like this album the first time I heard it long ago, but I listened to it again recently, now I love it. This, self-titled, and Iowa are their best by far. The essential Slipknot
I have the urge to message Slipknot, asking them if they would ever remake this song in their future albulms or tours, since they have with most of the songs in this album, doubt it'll be any better but I'd like to see them put that to the test
And now we know Corey wants to re-record/remake this song. Fingers crossed it'll happen, maybe even with his solo stuff as an updated version, because he can have more flexibility there.
@@jayxluv07 Absolutly false.Joey was Slipknot's drummer in everything Slipknot recorded between 1995 and 2013.Clown was always one of Slipknot's percussionists.
the Jazz part in the beginning reminds me of "keeping the cadaver dogs busy" by cryptopsy. not claiming they stole it since it would be impossible since cryptopsy' album with it came out after mate feed kill repeat
It's one of those songs that at the same time I am both incredibly desiring to know the process of how it came to be and both terribly petrified to know...
Fuck this is some of the best shit man, you can really hear what they are to become. I hope they always keep some funk in their albums, you can hear a lot of inspiration here and I fucking love it.
This is when they had anders collsefni and then corey taylor came into the picture and made it sound like a diffrent band. I like corey's sound alot better than anders'
+Cam Par yes, with production and the instumental side of things. But coreys voice really gave it that raw screaming effect other than the deep throaty sound that anders had.
I remember burning a copy and I put it in the CD player of my mums car. When I skipped to this track and the jazzy/ funk part came on she said ooohhh I don't want to listen to primus. I died
Marc Viera Joey has now explained it. He got a disease to his bones so he could not play. He says he wasnt kicked out and is now in good terms with the band. He said he could even make another album with them if they wanted to.
This was the bands biggest “why the hell not” moment
Man Mannington I think dogfish rising was they’re biggest “why the hell not” moment

I like how you can hear the bass
same! Paul has talents and u can definitely hear it in this album
+Davian Ruiz yerp
+stephen Torres 👌
stephen Torres so not like the album on my profile pic?
Paul was one of the two who never left slipknot from the original band. Rip paul
That time when Slipknot did Jazz for 10 seconds and decided it wasn't for them.
Slip mr bungle knot
315 likes but 1 comment? Let me fix that👍
@Drip_PackGod to people who do not know? It's quite obvious Slipknot were massive fans of Mr Bungle. The masks and jazz were done by Mr bungle first
Yeah they just heard mr bungle and wanted to create the same magic xD
@@RealWolfgangTV it's called inspiration
wtf it suddenly turned all funky lol
because slipknot
The song with a thousand personalities.
The song with DID
Lest we forget "Abstract Art" by Born of Osiris lol
sounds like mr bungle moved in with cannnibal corpse
well said
Sounds more like RHCP meets Sepultura to me.
Really sounds like Mr. Bungle
Haha also cannibal corpse lmao
@@gustavoteisen you literally just restated the comment
0:26 goes from elevator music to heavy as hell
You made me come up with an alternative name for the song ,,The elevator to Hell". Kinda cringe but fitting
Damn Paul Did good in this one
Paul Gray was just something else man. He was awesome. Bass skill and stage presence all together. What a guy.
He was muted more, and more each album.
And before he joined Slipknot he had never played a bass before
Paul was a great bassist all around
i miss him tbh
Thankful to have been able to see them live when Paul and Joey were in the band.
-bee “U like jazz”
-me “uhhh yes.”
*This was really my fave slipknot song for a good while😭😭*
*R.I.P ProgKnot*
What is your favorite now?
This song just turned into a crazy version of rollercoaster of love. xD
I love this song now wtf
Mr Bungle
This is probably the best song of the album
I have the urge to message Slipknot, asking them if they would ever remake this song in their future albulms or tours, since they have with most of the songs in this album, doubt it'll be any better but I'd like to see them put that to the test
Isaac Hernandez me too. This song would kick ass with Corey on vocals
Same.
And now we know Corey wants to re-record/remake this song. Fingers crossed it'll happen, maybe even with his solo stuff as an updated version, because he can have more flexibility there.
@@StableDruid130 Surprises me Corey wants to. Anders and Corey got completely different views on politics.
@@grandoldone2552 personal differences dont effect art until its brought into the art
The funk it's a great idea, They are great, play funk and "metal" in the same song is very hard and great again
Sleeping Cat primus
Woah didn’t know les claypool played in slipknot
They should totally re record this with Corey
Corey actually performed this song before back in 1997 look up his first show with slipknot and you'll see it in that video
Or go to the channel called mfkr1dotcom and go to the most recent video
@@theyluvskippy I mean the RUclips channel
@@theyluvskippy but the website is still there:)
Whitewolf sued them. The whole album is about Werewolf: The Apocalypse.
after listening to this I am 100% convinced that if it wasn't for Corey, not one person outside of Des Moines Iowa would have ever heard of them..
y?
KnuckleHeaded Maggot Corey was not singing on this track?
SpicySpaceDorito that's exactly my point
Pineapples in my ass this album was before Corey joined.
That Guitar Guy I know that :/
I love how good paul and joey are at jazz
@@jayxluv07 Absolutly false.Joey was Slipknot's drummer in everything Slipknot recorded between 1995 and 2013.Clown was always one of Slipknot's percussionists.
@@jayxluv07 That is literally Joey on the album cover and you are saying he didn't play drums on it 🤦♂️
My man Paul can slap
I love Funk Metal reminds me of Funk Metal bands like Primus, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, and Infectious Grooves
The jazz was really creepy I kind of like it
The funky bits sound like something that would come from red hot chilli peppers not slipknot!
And that is why this song is awesome
Zac Fernandez this is MFKR not slipknot. Well I know this is before slipknot which is why it is like that XD
Cody Coyote this is Slipknot, the name of the album is MFKR, short for Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat.
No shit
Sounds like Mr. Bungle hhaha
Its like if slipknot, red hot chilli peppers, cannibal corpse, and davie504 had a kid
The bass lines of that time were much more apparent, it's surreal...
This song has that funky groove vibe along with heavy metal, definitely one of my favs
This album musically sounds more metal than their other releases. Really good.
Come on y'all!
Lol wtf Anders XD
Ooo Ooo
This Slipknot is the better version.
yea i like it too
except Craig on guitar. feels weird
Nah not really
Incorrect
I agree and disagree. Craig should not be on guitar. And put corey in.
The percussion at the end is badass
MFKR sound so guttural
It's cause its Anders doing vocals and not Corey
I love the bass rift at 1:45
This song is so scary but I also absolutely love it
this song is chaos.💀😭😭
the Jazz part in the beginning reminds me of "keeping the cadaver dogs busy" by cryptopsy. not claiming they stole it since it would be impossible since cryptopsy' album with it came out after mate feed kill repeat
This is Mr Bungle as fuck, he even sings like Mike Patton
I love that funky bass part
Wtf this is my new favorite song now
It's one of those songs that at the same time I am both incredibly desiring to know the process of how it came to be and both terribly petrified to know...
The answer is 'Mr. Bungle'.
This song confused the fuck out of my friends.
Paul Gray on that bass though RIP legend🙏🏻
RIP Paul Gray. Listened to this song in your honor. Hope you're still rocking up there.
Fuck this is some of the best shit man, you can really hear what they are to become. I hope they always keep some funk in their albums, you can hear a lot of inspiration here and I fucking love it.
I love how Slipknot is a heavy metal band but basically this entire song is just jazz
slipknot was wilin i love it
Me encanta slipknot!
Progressive as hell
Musically? Yeah, lyrically? The complete opposite
I remembered Corey dancing Michael Jackson lol
this is extremley mr. bungle-e
Oggy .6 yesssss exactly haha
one time corey said in a self titled era interview that they liked mr bungle lol
If someone played this for me and said this was mr. bungle, I would’ve believed them
slipknot with funky...wow
0:16 I guess that's why Anders was kicked out
Anders left the band😂 he wasn't kicked out
I kinda like it, it sounds kinda creepy.
masterpiece
This is when they had anders collsefni and then corey taylor came into the picture and made it sound like a diffrent band. I like corey's sound alot better than anders'
+hunter dishon it was ross robinson that changed them up drastially
+Cam Par yes, with production and the instumental side of things. But coreys voice really gave it that raw screaming effect other than the deep throaty sound that anders had.
hunter dishon yup
hunter dishon me too
i think the changing of 8 other members may also have had something to do with it
In an alternate universe where slipknot became a funk band.
Wtf first funk then speed metal then funk then speed metal then funk then speed metal then funk then speed
Mr Bungle + Primus + Cannibal Corpse = MFKR (This band, yup,i know that's Slipknot, but for this era i will call them MFKR)
This is NERO FORTE all the fckn way!! Amazing and incredible!!
This song sounds like my mind
Love dat weird af shit
My.... My mind... My poor, young impressionable mind... It's so... Confused
Lol
RHCP meets Death Metal?
Dima Shady
RHCP are not that technical and jazzy.
Andrew de la Mennah ☣ when Slipknot is more technical and jazzy than RHCP, who are known to be technical and jazzy. This is awesome.
More mr bungle that rhcp
hahahahah
Mr Bungle maybe not RHCP. Funny how both these bands are mentioned together considering the feud they had.
This is slipknot before slipknot. Crazy
Imagine tripping acid to this song.. you would lose your fucking mind
Fantastic Paul, rip 🙏🙏
1:40 - Fuck yeah.
That part is LUL
2:52 loved... ❤
Best MFKR track.
Man your like a school in summer no class

0:16-0:28 This Part Of The Song Sounds Happy.
So bizarre, so awesome
I remember burning a copy and I put it in the CD player of my mums car. When I skipped to this track and the jazzy/ funk part came on she said ooohhh I don't want to listen to primus. I died
What the hell has life done slipknot is now bloody Jazz

Holy shit! How can this be so good?😂
Kinda hope they redo some of these songs for the new album. This fucking shreds.
Funky 😳
"Man, you're like a school in the summer - _no class."_
Why does this the singer sound like bat metal
best slipknot song ever
The jazz parts are amazing.
The funk... not so much haha.
omfg i love this song now🤯
This shit still slaps
Joey on the original cover and they kick his ass out wtf shit is that
can you please explain to me how they are assholes?
Marc Viera Joey has now explained it. He got a disease to his bones so he could not play. He says he wasnt kicked out and is now in good terms with the band. He said he could even make another album with them if they wanted to.
+Pineapples in my ass Ha, no.

Slipknot getting into the funk
Badass lyrics
Paul had fun on this one for sure.
I can tell this song is heavily inspired by mr bungle

Past 2 minutes i just hear korn and Johnathans voice tbh 😂
