My gear...Vango hydro 200

  • I bought myself a new tent, because I got tired of playing tetris when going to bed in my Snugpak Ionosphere. It is the Vango hydro 200. It is heavier and bulkier than the snugpak, so I am planing on continuing to use the Ionosphere on longer hikes.
    In this video I will merely prent the tent. I do not know yet how it will perform. You will find out in future videos.

    Great perspective on the tent, friend. How have you found it to be since you had this first look at it? Cheers.

      It is still going strong and I still love it. What I love about it is it’s big vestibule with tons of space to be able to cook inside. Also this tent is freestanding, which is great (except the vestibule which has to be staked out)
      The only downside is you can not set this tent up without the rainfly (since the poles go through sleeves in the rainfly)…this means when its hot outside you can only have the tent open on one side (the front, when you don’t use the vestibule)
      Still this is a minor issue, it is still my go-to tent for autumn, winter and spring

      @@JarlHauke very nice. Actually, I had noticed that about the vestibule as well. I've heard that most people from your country tend to prefer tents that pitch inner and outer together, as the weather can be so challenge. Is that an accurate belief?

      I‘m not involved very much with the hiking community but from what I‘ve seen here having inner and outer tent connected and pitching them together is rather an exception and not the norm. Most tents set up inner and then the fly on top. My other tents are build this way also.
      Weatherwise I think it is pretty moderate here (depends what you‘re used to, I guess). We have a healthy mix of rain and sunshine but I never have had to set up tent in heavy rain. If it rains too much you can take shelter and wait it out. Rarely heavy rain lasts langer than half an hour.

      @JarlHauke  Год назад +1

      Hi. I‘m afraid I don‘t have any links. Sorry. I got mine on Amazon. Don‘t know if they are available on Amazon in the US. You might also try to contact Vango and ask them. They are a UK based company. Maybe they have international distributors.
      Good luck 🙂

      @@brick2392 The Hydra also goes by the name Helvellyn, they are both newer names for the old Vango Mirage tent.
      Confusingly Vango still do a tent called the Mirage Pro which, although a similar configuration, has a higher inner and a more versatile door (the centre section can also be opened instead of either side). The Pro also has pull-out points in the middle of the large panels on the side.

    How does it fare against the banshee 200? Better?

    • @JarlHauke
      @JarlHauke  Год назад

      I don‘t have the banshee, so I can‘t compare. Having said that I am still pretty satisfied with it. It has never let me down.

      I have bought the Hydra 200 so just waiting for the chance to put it up and check it out. It looks to be discontinued now as it's only available on Amazon! The replacement model doesn't seem to be quite as good. Thanks

      Hallo.
      Danke. Ja, das stimmt...ein ganz neues Gefühl, sich morgens ohne Akrobatik im Zelt umziehen zu können.😅
