2000 and half was when they went away from forged rods. I had a 2000 f250, when I took it to the dealership they said my truck had the forged rods and the switches over shortly after.
They switched to PMRs for a short time as sort of a test run, then went back to forged for a short time, then switched back to PMR permanently. There have been quite a few 2001 build date trucks found with forged engines. 2000s are pretty safe bets for forged rods, 2001s need to be checked. There's a serial number range somewhere out there for when they made the changes.
Sounds like she's running strong.That bottom end isn't going anywhere with the parts you chose.Only thing I would do from here is adding an 05+ dana 60 to the front.Know it can snowball into alot.Tailhosing,tcase,driveshafts,etc..
You should start a tow pig build that’d honestly be a really great series to watch maybe a clean 99 dually like your buddies 🤔 or do a 6.0 you rarely see good genuine 6.0 builds on RUclips either way love the truck man idles really really good

Yep. Love this truck down from lights to mirrors. I owned a green 94.5 Ford f250 that had the bullet hole wheels. The motor came out of a 99 f550 wrecktruck back in 02. I knew the truck and bought it in 2017. 5 speed. Desired truck. I always wanted a red or green obs. I painted frame, new bumpers, batteries, wheel cylinders, brakes drums, rotors, tires, bought fenders, new front rear tank, brake lines, new bed, all new filters, rebuilt injectors, about 5k in upgrades turned out being the biggest pos! Piece of shit. Everytime other time i got in it something happened to it. From the tps, ivs, to ebrake failing after spending 700$ to rebuilt all that stuff. And a 400$ throttle pedal. Then progressed to it plup out just quit running with only 166 k on the truck. I looked at several lot nicer with 300k for 7000$. I give 3500$ for this hunk of shit. I sold and recooped 2/3 of my money. And only got 2500 miles out of it. Good trucks but good trucks 10 years ago. Most are ragged now. I got that hunk of shit running and sent her down the road. The problem now is ones with piles of miles get ready for expensive engine or transmission or clutches or injector job. If its low mile that baby sit so prepare for sensor sticking or not working. It's a funny feeling going down the road and boom your throttle quits working.

Just engine what do you figure you have in your motor? I know you did some stuff yourself. (COST) and if you were sending it out to the pros and have them do the work who would you trust to do a 100% job? Are you in Miami?

Mine is real clean but kept in stock form and well maintained along with a few custom features, such as updated lights and a 4 inch stainless exhaust. Mostly set up for pulling, but watching you guys having all that power under the hood makes it very tempting. Keep having fun and the videos coming.
Real trucks dont smoke, all the smoke is: unspent fuel, so you know your truck is running efficiently and in the proper Egt temps. How is your Mpg? I'm just curious.

Might want to check out turtle wax hybrid line. Their seal and shine isn't too bad either. Truck sounds and looks great.
I did partial block fill on my 7.3. Strengthens the block from twisting.

I knew it had to be earlier, couldn't remember which year they split up the rod type. Thanks!

the older ones are IDI and the newer are DI also turbo setup

Check out the Frieghtliner hill climb trucks, they are clean and they are producing 2,400hp and 4,000tq. No black smoke come out of that truck.
Totally agree. Black smoke is wasted power. The key is to turn all that black to a haze. As was mentioned in the video.
