    Chassis cab (narrow frame) was the only way ford ever offered a 4x4 dually pre 99. ALL, yes ALL non chassis cab dually models that are 4x4 are a conversion of one form or another. Several companies did them back in the day for dealers even, but FORD never made an obs dually 4x4 pickup bed.
    The truck in this video began life as a single wheel, given away by the fact that it has the front single wheel (no factory dual adapter) and the comment he made about the filler neck. The single wheel filler neck is much shorter, and cant reach the dually fender.

    Ford never offered an obs in a dually 4x4 pick up in any configuration. They did offer a cab n chassis dually 4x4 in the F350.
    This truck has had a dually axle installed in the rear hence the single front wheel

      97 there is an option for a four-wheel drive dually pickup but only for a regular cab and definitely for cab and chassis trucks

      David is right. Chassis cab was the only way a 4x4 came as a dually. ALL other dually 4x4s were a conversion of one form or another

    That looks like Charcoal Grey Metallic paint (I could be wrong). I had an 83 that color and it’s very specific to early 80’s Ford colors. Thats a very beautiful truck!

      Don't be jealous of that weak link ZF boat anchor. They shift terribly and break when played with too roughly. If you really want a standard behind a 7.3 look at swapping in a Spicer 5 or 6 or even 7 speed from an International 4300 or so series truck. That's were your 7.3l DT444 came from so should be almost bolt in swap, ... lol, kinda?!

    • @acemobile9806
      @acemobile9806 3 года назад

      @@turbo1438 I definitely agree with the idea you have...would LOVE to have the ratios of a 6 + 1. problem with that is I'm relatively certain there isn't room for the SAE bellhousing required to bolt up a Spicer trans without a big body lift or major cutting away of the trans tunnel/firewall. There's barely room for the downpipe in stock application. I'm an old-school gear jammer & believe a clutch should just be used for stopping/starting. Quite frankly, none of the light & med duty trans "float" gears very well. The synchros simply won't allow it & there's not enough flywheel inertia to keep the revs up enough to do a proper gear "float." I wish I could have the "feel" of a class 8 trans without the associated size & weight.

      @@turbo1438 anybody with a slush box has the right to be jealous of a ZF5, yes there are better transmissions out there but a ZF5 I’d far from a boat anchor …. And btw, a 7.3 Powerstroke is a T444E Navistar engine, it isn’t a DT series engine. With this pickup being a 4x4 swapping in a 5, 6 or 7 speed spicer would NOT be a simple bolt up project

    Love your channel. Looked at a 90 f250 the other day. It surely needed some love but not being a diesel guy, this 7.3 did not have a turbo. it looked like it had n air filter like other v8..yet now doubt it was a diesel? How can that be were some made with out turbos? I must say it was really gutless. Still thinking about buying it though because the body and Int are in really good cond. I am in Jacksonville....who would I take it to to get work and or advice....know anyone up here?

    You replaced the lines without taking the HPOP out? I read somewhere that you need to take the whole pump out first. I have to replace my lines due to a oil leak and id rather not take the whole pump out. Also did you have a problem while taking the old lines off of oil spraying or going everywhere? Thanks sorry for all this I just need to get this done in the shortest time possible

    • @The73Garage
