Can we just take a moment to not only praise Cait Sith but Vincent too? The man is the most antisocial character in Final Fantasy history and he goes out of his way to secure an exit and get everyone out of the temple safely - heroes of the hour!

I love Rebirth Caith Sith so much, but his death in the OG was actually a lot more depressing because the robot Cait Sith that sacrficed himself gained full sentient at the last moment and asked Everyone to not forget about him.
Agreed, Cait Sith's last moments in the original were pretty heartbreaking
I get why they changed it, though: first of all, pacing, and second… they actually did forget about him. The first Cait Sith never gets mentioned again after the temple, and the new one replaces him in every way as if nothing ever happened.

There's another level of irony here, too. Yuffie Kisaragi, Materia Hunter and worst room reader ever, tells Cid to read the room after he asks whether they got what they were after: the Black Materia.
Not gonna lie, if I didn't play the OG then I would have been bawling my eyes out because they went above and beyond here.

I like the change in the temples destruction. In the OG, the temple IS the black materia and Cait Sith has to solve a puzzle in order gain the black materia.
No, Cait Sith has to KILL HIMSELF to get the black materia. It's not a puzzle. It's a trap.

@@corjonbett I played the game. I'm not stupid. IT WAS A TRAP. NOT A PUZZLE. THERE WAS NO PUZZLE. Just TOUCHING the hologram caused the temple to shrink. THAT IS NOT A PUZZLE.
Aeris specifically refers to it as a puzzle. Cait just solves it by himself while you aren't there.@@Mother3Forever

He's NOT back. That's a different Cait Sith with NONE of the memories of the original. It took Reeve YEARS to recover the memories of the original Cait Sith.

@@Wolf_Ghost There's a LOT of extra lore in other pieces of canon content. In this case, his accent changed ENTIRELY, which was a big hint to it. The most "modern" version of Cait Sith(iirc, that was the one from Advent Children) was made with the data Reeve recovered from OUR Cait Sith.

@@mightymumu That was Reeve. Not Cait Sith. Our Cait Sith is DEAD. This demake/retcon should be considered a crime against humanity.
They handled this sacrifice better in this version than the OG. You actually felt bad for Cait, even though it was a robot body, his sacrifice and return actually meant something. As opposed to the Original where it was basically overshadowed, by Cloud.
Reeve can control him with his mind, imagine how Reeve felt that Cait Sith died like was it painful, did he get a migraine
I'm sure it stung a little. Reeve is such a badass. I wish he was playable.

Reeve is so underrated. I wish we get to play as HIM eventually and not the cat robot he made.
While it might be nice for Reeve to actually hang around the party, he by his own admission has no combat ability so he'd be useless as a party member.

It’s moogle that gets me here with cait, he always does what cait tells him to do and he was told to go with the others. He stayed with cait and after cait was gone, moogles eyes glaze over like he’s lost all purpose. And even after he gets hit by the falling debris he still reaches one last time to try and save Cait. So amazingly done. And Nanakis urgency when there all leaving “We can’t let his death be in vain” he was thinking of caits sacrifice before his own life.

The two may have back ups, but that was the original Cait and Moogle- bot that died in that temple.

@@ErenDenizMert I like to think Cait Sith is what Reeve wants to be, Reeve is a serious yet hopeful buisiness man while Cait Sith is goofy, witty, and charismatic his inner wonder if you will.
@@WINover Or in short: It's his Fursona. And it makes a lot of sense that he would seek some sort of Escapism, because all the other Shinra Executives dump on him all the time, despite the fact that he is the only one actully serious about his work and not a Mustach Twirling Cartoon Villian.

@@clintonbehrends4659 It's basically an identical copy controlled by the same guy though, so it's more or less a 1 up.
Does it make up for what he did? Like I get why he did it, but he could’ve avoided the betrayal scenario if he just talked about it with them, maybe throw some ideas around as to how to set up Shinra to get the materia for them then take it from them, idk something to differentiate from the OG.
