A remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden for the Nintendo 3DS.
On the continent of Valentia lived a pair of sibling gods, Mila and Duma. These two gods fought a savage war over their conflicting ideals, before finally forging a pact to divide the continent into two. Afterwards, two nations-Rigel and Zofia-were formed around these gods. In the coming millennia, the continent ushered in an age of peace. However, in the current era, war threatens to engulf Valentia once again and only two youths-Alm and Celica-hold the power to stop it.

It's crazy to think we've only waited 4 months for a Fire Emblem game (from being announced to being fully localized) and it's A FLIPPIN' GAIDEN REMAKE. LET'S _GOOOOO._

Nekko Blue no we would get a good version of fates . Conquest is really good gameplay wise but it's story is kinda shit . But I enjoy playing it so much it's my favorite in the series alongside FE 7 . As long as I skip the cutscenes I love conquest . And it has some good characters - niles kaze Xander Leo Odin selena Jakob Charlotte nyx for example are pretty good characters so while the story sucks it does redeem itself just a little with good characters

Like Chad and Lugh from 7. Or the kids who time-traveled back in 13. Or the kids who snuck into the Main Realm in 14.

In fairness to Robin the children characters are roughly the same age as the parent characters were in the first arc. Time travel and all that.

It took me a little while to realize that the battle forecast in this game is pretty much imitating the screen stats that are displayed in Gaiden's combats, and I find that detail both clever and cute.
Especially considering these are actually useful

Fates cartridge can contain all 3 paths and can also contain path of birthright or conquest, in this game they use the dual path for celica and alm, they can do this for Sirius but wait there's more, velentia has the map thing like sacred stones and awakening but wait there's more, velentia has zombies...what game has dual paths, zombies and a map where enemy's can spawn and move...? Fe 8, it's so obvious and since they said they will make more echoe remakes, what remake would they do next besides sacred stones since it already shares similar features with this game? None cause fe 8 is coming next

A substantial amount of people have been consistently hyped for 4 months for a Fire Emblem game, and above all it's a Gaiden remake. What a fucking time to be alive, boys and girls.
I swear, every time the leitmotiv comes up on the soundtrack every hair on my body stands on edge.
First time I saw the starting cutscene I said to myself
"They are gonna pull an Awakening on us."
I feel like if they just didn't show her dying at the beginning it would make it just that more impactful later on but, hopefully the writing is good enough that it doesn't matter
Making her Celica's blood white in that cut scene was a horrible idea, for a second I thought she came after being impaled.
I always figured the sword was breaking down the blood it was touching too, but I can kind of see that.

The combat is so smooth and appealing, I liked fates and awakenings use of the 3D but the way they attacked always looked awkward. This is so much beyter
Ghast, you should look up the Lipizzaner stallions. They're a breed of horse that was bred and raised to be war horses, and they were trained to do these crazy moves on the battlefield. They're still around today, actually, and you can see them perform those same moves.
I think this is the first time Fire Emblem has actually made me cry.

And I'm gonna get FE: Echoes soon enough. By the way, I think this may be the first 3DS title to have full on voice acting ever since Kid Icarus Uprising, and that came out about a year into the 3DS lifecycle (still lovin that game).
atemnar a link between worlds is a sequel, not a remake. But I get where you're coming from.
It might as well be a remake with how its pretty damn similar it is to LttP.
ShadowWing7439 Virtue's Last Reward is another great 3DS game with full voice acting.
The Devil Survivor Rereleases and Shin Megami Tensei series on 3DS contain full voice acting.

It is so much fun to listen to ghast react to all this. It is just to much fun. I can't wait to grab my copy in about 3 hours.
Dude, I dont blame you at all I felt every bit of the stuff you felt.
The music and visuals are absolutely beautiful.
Also that opening movie... man that feels kinda spoilerish, I mean, new players didn't know Celica and Alm so seeing her dying didn't do much for them, and the inevitable moment when that happens on the game (we all know it's coming) will not have the same impact that could've without us seeing it. I dunno, this kinda of scene reminds me of the one from Chrono Cross with Serge stabbing Kid, but MAN that one was a hell of a plot twist.

In the matter, I would have prefered something like the "someone of you will die" like Janus did, but with the Milas Gear showing him, being less spoilery
Or... you know the opening of Awakening.
Lionofash I'm not a fan of the flash-forward intro trope, but Awakening's intro makes sense because it's showing Lucina's timeline in which Chrom really died.
Spoilerish indeed, but I think IS did this to throw off an obvious cliché in this scene. You see this cutscene beforehand but it just stops after Celica's death. I pretty much knew the "oh she's still alive through magic"-cliché was going to apply here, because what game or movie doesn't use that cliché anyways.. This made the story predictable to me, a player who has never played Gaiden before.
But a while later you will see a mourning Alm fighting the emperor in a cutscene with Celica watching as a ghost next to them. Because of that cutscene I didn't know what was going to happen anymore to Celica and whether or not she stays dead or not when the first cutscene plays again in the endgame
So for new players they kinda spoiled but kept us guessing at the same time. Quite well done in my opinion.
Guiler the thing with a “how we got here” beginning isn’t to evoke emotion, it’s to get the viewer to ask questions and build up a desire to know WHY it happened. I’d say that if it’s used repeatedly (awakening, Fates [kinda] and Echoes all in a row) it starts losing it’s luster, though.
Alm hates flower necklaces as a kid and then he wears a tiara as an adult. 😅

Ghast, I have to say, I'm only 4 minutes in, and your emotions are contagious. I'M tearing up from how much this is all meaning to you. I didn't watch this series sooner since I was waiting until I could borrow my friend's copy (I'm broke right now) but now that I'm done... you're making me feel emotions, man.
Watching this basically one year later...Ghast still makes me happy in the darkest of times.

I wouldn't say is the best prologue of any fire emblem but it's a really strong one. They put the extra effort of making the designs, models and animations for the younger versions of the characters and this was only for the prologue! *Kudos to the developers*

They did the premonition thing in Fates with Corrin's dream of the 2 sets of siblings fighting over him and him having to choose but it wasn't as much of a spoiler as it was with Echoes and Awakening
