    You should talk about missing people who resurfaced and the theories vs what actually happened. Would be interesting

    So many things about this case are just so wrong. A "joke" or "prank" stating that 3 girls will be killed is not a joke. That is very sick and extremely serious, they should have not brushed it off as a silly prank. When you said the the shoe returned to the camp during searches, it made me think someone on the inside was involved, which is probably very possible. Such a sad case

      But you also gotta look at it before the killing, would you really think the 3 girls would actually get killed? The person who did it probably didnt want them finding out if they were going to do it and there is a lot of false messages like this so that's probably why they dismissed it. They could have also gotten extra security to make sure it didnt actually happened.

      As a former camp counselor this camp was very poorly run. If bed checks would have been done properly and with the amount of homesick campers if the counselors did their jobs this would not have happened. I'm forty so it's been awhile since I was a camp counselor spent a few summers back in the day, if you are assigned to bed checks you are not getting an ounce of sleep because you have to deal with homesick campers especially on the first night, trust me on this.

      I have two books on this case and used to be a camp counselor myself for a few summers. This was a really poorly run camp. The camp director's husband and the counselor that found the bodies are sketchy. Not saying they are guilty of murder but they are sketchy. From what I read I don't think they are the murder's but these people should not have been left to watching other people's children.

      Not one of genes brothers told the police any such thing i can assure you. They didnt talk to the police about anything.

      I cannot prove to you i am related to gene but my name is leeanna bucksin and my fsthrrs name is thurman bucksin and is one of genes younger brothers. My married name is sloan. I never met gene, i was born in 1980 in claremore oklahoma.
      All of genes (sonny) siblings have passed away except for my father and my uncle milard, there were 7 brothers snd sisters and they would talk sbout gene from time to time but not sbout the murders.
      These little girls deaths make me very sad. My heart breaks for them and their children.
      Sorry i hsve no way to "prove" i am telling the truth but i hsve no reason to make shit up on youtube.
      I hsve heard a lot of theories but not the one you wrote above. Can i ask where you got the info?

They happened in Finland in 1960 when four teenagers were camping along the shore of the lake, and early in the morning, when they were sleeping, three of them were killed and one was wounded. There was a Boy Scout camp a short distance away that was never really considered by the police and the investigation wasn't revealed. There was a boy off of a website about this case who said he was a Boy Scout at the camp during this time. He said he witnessed "The first night of camp we had three boys that bragged to the entire troup that they were going to go to Camp Scott that night to get some girls. They indead went, and in the middle of the night returned and woke up allot of us arguing. One boy was crying and saying he didn't want to get into trouble, the other two boys were angry and telling him to keep his mouth shut and they won't get in any trouble." However some people think this is a lie since it would be hard to hike from the Boy camp to girl camp in the dark due to a highway, but it is possible just unlikely. This was on multiple forums and many believe it's a lie but I Just thought it was another interesting theory.

      I've heard this, too, and it is a viable lead that should have been, or should be investigated. That being said, I find it hard to believe that a group of teenage boys could have kept their mouths shut about this. This means not only those who may have been involved, but those who saw them back at the camp.

    • @katmarie4812
      @katmarie4812 7 лет назад +89

      I live very close to that area, I actually drove around it with my dad today, it's very difficult to get through. Even back then, it's very thick, with a TON of open space, I feel like them walking that far wouldn't have happened 😂 but, this is a good theory. I personally feel like if this happened, maybe the boys didn't do anything, but maybe they saw something? Something they obviously didn't mean to see? Idk, but again, great theory!

      Yeah I think someone in the camp might've been involved, bc how would the random killer know that all tents would be filled with 4 kids and only one with 3.
      Its almost like the person in the camp set it up and specifically chose the three that would be in that tent and would be killed.

      for those saying it was an inside job of the camp... I don't believe that's correct. The note being there was suspicious yes, no denying and should've been saved as evidence had anyone really realized. However there wasn't exactly a "system" set up for these campers. nothing computerized or digital. Campers had to choose their tents themselves (I went through the same setup considering I've been to girl scout camp, I was able to choose my tent), they just couldn't choose their pre-designated group assignment (i.e. if they were kiowa or quapaw) since that was based on age. A fourth girl was supposed to stay in tent 8 in kiowa but was moved to a different group the day she came to camp due to her birth date. it being an inside job based on that merit is... highly unlikely.

    This is a case that I have been interested in for quite a while. There are some mix-ups (again, as you said, this case was confusing).
    1) The training session did not take place two days before the camp session. It took place two months in advance (in April).
    2) Lori was not sexually molested. It was Denise and Michelle who were molested.
    Other than that, you pretty much got everything else right. Just a couple of other things that I wanted to point out.
    Back in the 1970s, the culture in Oklahoma was like the 50s. As in "nothing bad can ever happen." Another thing I would like to point out is that none of the counselors in the Kiowa unit were aware of the note's existence until after the murders occurred. That's because a counselor from another unit got the note. The only people aware of the note's existence at the time were the counselors from that unit as well as the directors.
    One thing that I was completely disgusted by was the blatant disrespect that the families received from the camp after the murders. As was said in the video, the Guses had to find out from watching their local news to find out their daughter was murdered. Another thing was how the families weren't a priority. The camp first contacted their attorney and their insurance agent. THEN they contacted the families.
    Another thing was that there was supposed to be a 4th girl in tent #7. (The reason a lot of people call it Tent #8 is because they are also counting the Counselor's tent.) Anyhow, due to a clerical error, the 4th girl was put in a different unit. She was to move the next day. That clerical error saved her life.
    A little not so well known fact is that Denise tended to have a bout of homesickness whenever she was away from home. The night of the murders, she wanted to call her parents to pick her up to go home, and the counselor she went to told her she had to wait until the next morning to do so.
    This particular camp session was supposed to last two weeks, and Lori's 9th birthday was going to occur during that session (June 18), and her family was going to travel over there to celebrate with her. Obviously, this never occurred.

I'll try looking for some answers.

    The way they ignored that note just goes to show you how different we are in 2017 than way back then, because nowadays that would've been taken so seriously and there would be cops and an investigation and the camp would have been closed! If they actually weren't so stupid about the threat than there would still be 3 girls alive now and no one would be in distress

    my grandma was adopted, yet gene leroy hart is related to her by blood, (and me as well sadly,) however i’m not sure how. there is this book she has written by some sheriff( at least i think he wrote it, either way he still tried to make gene seem innocent) that she thinks was helping him out with the case trying to make everyone believe he was innocent. my grandma also said someone (i’m not sure who because i don’t remember,) told her gene had a son and a wife at one time. she said the woman told her his wife found him in a room fixing to molest his son. of course, after that his wife ordered a divorce. either way, i personally believe he did it, and so does my grandma. i personally haven’t read the book but i see myself coming around to it very soon.

    Honestly I think the police should have further investigated the oddly specific note that was dismissed as a "prank". I mean a note stating that three girls would be murdered and then it happening? Whoever carried out the murder had to have known about the "prank" or killed the girls. It seems like too much of a coincidence and it seems ridiculous to me that the police didn't investigate who allegedly wrote the note. Especially in this case where every piece of evidence counts.

    As soon as you said that two of the girls were killed in their tents and another in the forest I immediately thought that there had to be two murderers involved. I'm glad you mentioned the two different kinds of knots as well. Definitely theorizing that two people were involved and worked together. Such a shame that there aren't many suspects or enough to go on to form a proper theory.

    • @puppie7696
      @puppie7696 7 лет назад +2

      imyourhappydrug I definitely believe there were two murderers. There were two styles of killing, asphyxiation and blunt force trauma. It could be that the murderer switched killing methods but it's highly unlikely especially with the knot information. Asphyxiation is more personal than blunt force trauma which could indicate that one of the killers felt more comfortable than the other. I could be wrong about it tho.

    I live in Oklahoma, and I remember teachers telling us about this on the 30th anniversary. The tent is still there.

      No, it's not. The entire floor was airlifted to a facility crime lab to be investigated shortly after the murders took place.

    hi! So my great grandfather was the sheriff of Mayes county. He was one of the investigators during the murders. You forgot to mention that Gene Leroy Hearts brother told an osbi angent that his brother did it but he was not going to confess while his mother was still alive, which I can confirm to be true. Also they found other evidence in a cave close to the camp where Gene was staying in. There's loads more I could tell you.
