    I was so depressed in 2013. I didn't discover this until that summer. I wrote lyrics for every song and would sing it in my car nonstop. This one album rekindled my love for music.

      Some people turn to drugs and alcohol when depressed, which I'll admit I've tried. But as I've gotten older I've learned you can put an album like this on and go for a walk and it's the same effect but healthy.

      I was raised in the valley, there was shadows and death
      Got out alive but with scars i cant forget
      This kid back in school, subdued and shy
      An orphan and a brother and unseen by most eyes
      I dont know what it was that made a piece of him die

      @@LyonEcHAll I have is the chorus for Transcend in my notes still
      If you could only imagine
      How good this tastes
      Then maybe you could understand

    • @smithomness01
      @smithomness01 11 лет назад +45

      David Lee Not true dude :p If you're a true musician then vocals would just be another instrument in the song. Sometimes the end result can be a beautiful piece of music.

    • @p0mfg0rzk
      @p0mfg0rzk 11 лет назад +13

      Personally I like when some songs have vocals, but then others instrumental. Don't need all instruments in every song just because you're in a band together. (my opinion)

    • @smithomness01
      @smithomness01 11 лет назад +3

      I know exactly what you mean man it helps keep your music more diverse. But what if there were a lead vocalist in this song? You're saying there's no possible way it'd make it any better?

    • @davidlee2221
      @davidlee2221 11 лет назад +4

      In my opinion, and in my experience with vocalists, they tend to showboat and take control of the band. Often times they will have a perticular sound in there head that they wish to achieve through the music, but they lack the technical knowledge to make said sound and then they get frustrated. And also in my opinion, screamimg is ok when used in moderation. But a vocalist who can only scream is a disaster in the making. Because they both lack the technical knowledge and talent of a regular vocalist. And in this song no. The focus in this song seems to be on atmosphere and instrumentation through the guitars, and a vocal track on top of that would change the track's focus.

    • @katyvaske989
      @katyvaske989 10 лет назад +2

      It'd definitely the A majour scale they use.(If I got that name right) Very up beat, melodic, and almost infinite amounts of "happy," "persevering" sounding combinations.

    • @PixelatedSkylines
      @PixelatedSkylines 10 лет назад +2

      Katy Vaske the intro at least has to be minor. drop tuning definitely. But to me it sounds like they don't just stick around just one scale.

    • @katyvaske989
      @katyvaske989 10 лет назад +1

      I'm pretty sure all the songs, at least most, off this album are in the scale which is 0 2 4 6 7 9 11 12 on the E string(which is dropped to match the D). I could be wrong, though. Haha. There are capabilities of minor combinations in that scale- two areas have tritones stacked on each other. It helps with the "resolving" feeling, I would say.

    I'm gonna be honest, I'm glad this is instrumental. Because it is, I could both fall asleep to the serenity of the music, and I could jam to the badass solos. The only time this has ever happened to me before was with Audioslave, and Chris Cornell is tough to match. I don't think any singer of his variety would match this sort of music anyway, so I'm rooting for you guys to stay instrumental.

    yall have come a long way since palisades, but i can see the talent that was there before just getting more and more finely polished. keep it up guys, you are in the place i only dreamed of when i was in a band being recorded by lane, and even though im glad my days of long hair and noise making through an over sized amp are done, it pleases me to see that someone i knew in that time took a genre forged purely out of anger and hatred and turned it into something original and beautiful. this music sounds like a cold steel knife gliding through an ocean of liquid glass and color. and i couldn't be more pleased listening to it. keep it up my brothers.

    Jesus. Found these boys in August of 2014 and still a fan to this day. It's so crazy looking at this shot of the band looking straight from Rise Records, and comparing it to where they are now.

      +Nijs Tim Gonna have to agree, I wasn't a huge fan of Muse for the most part and now that Brandon is gone for good, I can't imagine we'll hear stuff like this again. :(

      jacobjedi2 I love muse to be honest but this is outstanding. And yeah he was the best part of the band next to Tim. The bassist really sucks haha well he doesn't but he's not good enough for this kind of music.

    They can dislike this album as much as they want, but - metal or not - the feeling is jam-packed in to these songs. I feel more emotion in 30 seconds of one of these songs than anything off Muse.
    Ah well we'll always have Inspire

    • @SamdeLeon
      @SamdeLeon 11 лет назад +16

      Well, the speed is impressive, that's for one. Other than that though, I don't see anything else. And the fills tend to be repetitive. Just a bunch of fast rolls. Don't get me wrong, he's good, definitely. But the style doesn't stick out as much unlike Matt Halpern or Anup Sastry.
      On the other hand, the guitarists' melody choices, phrasing, and speed are amazing! They're kinda like djent Guthrie Govans. Nuff' said.

      im not taking anything away from the guitaring, they are obviously very talented but in this style of instumental music the drummer doesnt normally draw this much attention from me. it just stood out instead of just being there.

    Music doesn't require lyrics, and some of the pieces that have moved me the most have been entirely instrumental. Cloudkicker's 'Amy, I Love You,' the duo suite of 'I Admit It, I Was Scared' and 'We Were All Scared' from the same album, anything Chopin has ever written, Animals As Leaders' 'On Impulse,' and the guitar solo to Shinedown's 'Lady So Divine' touches me more than any other part of the song.
    If you absolutely NEED lyrics for music to touch your soul, then you're missing the point.
