Three songs in and I am so amazed at the talent of you guys. You guys blew my mind with how peaceful and refreshing this all is. Never get a vocalists. You will never need one.
David Lee Not true dude :p If you're a true musician then vocals would just be another instrument in the song. Sometimes the end result can be a beautiful piece of music.
Personally I like when some songs have vocals, but then others instrumental. Don't need all instruments in every song just because you're in a band together. (my opinion)
I know exactly what you mean man it helps keep your music more diverse. But what if there were a lead vocalist in this song? You're saying there's no possible way it'd make it any better?
In my opinion, and in my experience with vocalists, they tend to showboat and take control of the band. Often times they will have a perticular sound in there head that they wish to achieve through the music, but they lack the technical knowledge to make said sound and then they get frustrated. And also in my opinion, screamimg is ok when used in moderation. But a vocalist who can only scream is a disaster in the making. Because they both lack the technical knowledge and talent of a regular vocalist. And in this song no. The focus in this song seems to be on atmosphere and instrumentation through the guitars, and a vocal track on top of that would change the track's focus.
13:59 in TRANSCEND i must have listened to this 10,000 times. No joke. For three years straight this was playing while i skated. Was a good skater as a teenager. All grown up now. But music producing for a living :) Thanks Polyphia. Miss this more melodic stuff.

funny how the most watched moment of the record is, in my opinion, the best riff of the whole album and one of the best of polyphia ever. I think i'm not the only one who feels the same
That awkward moment when you come across a band and realize that you know them from back in middle and high school lollll. Glad to see you are using your amazing guitar skills for this, Tim :)!
This band has the best tones (on this EP and the 2 studio albums), best lead guitarist, very talented rhythm guitarist, super dank bassist, drums are amazeballs! And most of all... THE BEST VOCALS I HAVE EVER HEARD!
It'd definitely the A majour scale they use.(If I got that name right) Very up beat, melodic, and almost infinite amounts of "happy," "persevering" sounding combinations.
I'm pretty sure all the songs, at least most, off this album are in the scale which is 0 2 4 6 7 9 11 12 on the E string(which is dropped to match the D). I could be wrong, though. Haha. There are capabilities of minor combinations in that scale- two areas have tritones stacked on each other. It helps with the "resolving" feeling, I would say.
the thing i love about polyphia is their polyrythyms, they are actually MUSICAL unlike most djenty bands that do polyrythyms almost for the sake of having polyrythyms, but polyphia does them in such a meaningfull way

I'm gonna be honest, I'm glad this is instrumental. Because it is, I could both fall asleep to the serenity of the music, and I could jam to the badass solos. The only time this has ever happened to me before was with Audioslave, and Chris Cornell is tough to match. I don't think any singer of his variety would match this sort of music anyway, so I'm rooting for you guys to stay instrumental. Cheers from Connecticut, love you guys.

It'd a been a long time since I had last listened to an instrumental band... It's awesome ! It's true what they say : a singer is not more necessary to a band than a guitarist, a drummer, a bassist or any other musician are.
I think, instead of focusing on what instrument is played BETTER than another, you should be listening to the music piece as a WHOLE because they are all great, and extremely well played TOGETHER. Yes, the drums are awesome, but the guitars are also SO WELL put together I wouldn't even dare to compare any against the other....well played, to you all!

Hey there, Polyphia. I gotta say you guys, I really appreciate the music. I LOVE IT, every song I've listened to so far has impressed me and I love the play throughs. Keep it going, you guys.
Scrolling through the comments section, I see shitloads of comments fawning over the guitar and drums, but nobody giving a shit about the bassist. Ah well, I listen to the low end. Fuck me, right?
I fucking love the bass in this EP, I'm with you on that! I always appreciate when bands kind of "show-off" more of the bass than it's used to nowadays.

Holy shit I remember them when they were Palisades and even have their four song ep or whatever from 3 years ago. Glad these dudes are still putting out ridiculously brilliant orchestrations.
Music doesn't require lyrics, and some of the pieces that have moved me the most have been entirely instrumental. Cloudkicker's 'Amy, I Love You,' the duo suite of 'I Admit It, I Was Scared' and 'We Were All Scared' from the same album, anything Chopin has ever written, Animals As Leaders' 'On Impulse,' and the guitar solo to Shinedown's 'Lady So Divine' touches me more than any other part of the song. If you absolutely NEED lyrics for music to touch your soul, then you're missing the point.

Woah, that's awesome that Scott mixed and mastered this. LOVE Polyphia's new stuff, but it's nice to come back to the older stuff and see how they've evolved.
I agree with Ivonne. Please keep the band the way it is. If you feel the need to do a project with vocals, please change the name. Anyway this is awesome.
Holy shit I remember them when they were Palisades and even have their four song ep or whatever from 3 years ago. Glad these dudes are still putting out ridiculously brilliant orchestrations.
Loooove it you guys are just like intervals....
"Feat. Aaron Marshall of Intervals" :P
Yeah lol
2:07 that run is so satisfying
This is nice, other insane instrumental acts are Blotted Science, Liquid Tension Experiment, Trioscapes, and Behold the Arctopus.
this should be pinned post - thanks
This the exact kind of instrumentals I've been waiting for in a long time
Killer :) Hope to ear some piano sound in the next record , it had a nice color to your sound guys !
It says on the video the name of every song as it's playing, it's called "Transending" And it's not a different song, the song starts at around 11:10
Back when I loved polyphia :L I'm sorry, this is just so much better.
Oh, buddy.
