Hey Adrian, thanks so much for covering the Thabo Bester saga. I was one of the many people pestering you to cover it and I must say you did an excellent job as usual. Thanks! As someone who works in the GBV space in South Africa, the incompetence of some of the police and correctional service officials is very disheartening. What became very obvious though is that South Africans rally together with humour when facing a common enemy. You should have seen the memes that were circulating on social media about Thabo Bester 🤣and we were all on the look out for him and his accomplices when they were on the run.

They lived a lavish life and Nandipha was the front for the business so people trusted her. She exposed her two girls to a serial rapist for what really? Would be interesting to see how this story unfolds.

Sir Adrian, thank you for bringing us these stories from around the globe, because many, including myself, would probably not hear of most of these cases. Now regarding Thabo: To be able to bring a dead body into a prison, placed it in a cell, then set it on fire to coverup an elaborate escape, speaks to the level of corruption within the prison management system. For, there is no way this could have been pulled off without the complicity of multiple prison officials. What a disgrace on the prison management.

Apparently rates are falling but I guess due to the world we live in with the Internet it's hard to accept. The only thing is that it's predicted another huge spike in major crime like the 70s and 80s which was the serial killer "golden years" or there were more than any other time and apparently they think this might be about to come again due to the fact that the same social factors they think caused the last spike have been repeated.

A university Professor who as part of their course requires knowledge about geography really thought Australia didn't exist. In our contemporary lives suffused with all things true-crime we’ve become evermore discerning in our choice not only of who we prefer as host/creators but also types of cases.
    Gore and violence? No thanks.
Daring acts of deception, the close calls, the impossible odds, the role of chance and serendipity? Yes please!
With a cup of Joe? Yes please!
For all that and more we go to Coffeehouse Crime.
Adrian has a knack for delivering the goods for connoisseurs of the genre. His artful presentation, humor, graciousness along with his curatorial eye for good subjects elevates him to be the reigning true crime host on the Internet.
    All that and a cat!
    Bravo! 👏

I first heard about this story last night. This has to be one of the wildest cases I have heard of. And the doctor! Why?!!? So many twists and turns. I feel sorry for her children. She had her daughters around that evil man and then abandoned them at school. Was he that much of a smooth talker? Silver tongue devil. I'm glad they were caught

As a South African i want to thank you for sharing this story. You were actually the first 'podcast like' channel I started to follow. On this story i think it's important to note that Thabo was a product of rape, the snip of the interview with his mother she actually told the story of how she was raped as a teen by his father - a stranger to her- in his car after hitchhiking. I dont know but it seemed important to his story, especially when you hear how callously he refers to 'his rapes'

Hey Adrian, I love how you’ve changed up your spoken into dialogue - leading into the story with different prompts and open-ended sentences keeps it interesting for sure!
I felt badly for this man as a kid at the start of the story - then shocked, and in disbelief at how an “ educated” woman could fall for such a ConMan - then just angry at the system, for being so corrupt and blind to his antics. At the end of it all I’m just grateful he was caught before he could take another innocent life
