    Great review, I couldn't agree more with your thoughts! Loved the visuals and the setting, really enjoyed the first 2/3 and it kind of derailed at the point you mentioned into the last 1/3, with the Weir character.

    Great review. I really enjoy this film but I only watch it once in a blue moon because some of the dialogue clangs. Visually and character development wise the film is really good. The deaths are hard hitting and how the ship uses their memories to do that. This isn't one of the films where I want nobody to survive and that's nice isn't it 😂.

      🤣 yeah, I definitely find it to be a positive when you are rooting for people to NOT die.

    Excellent review Bryan. As a teenager when I discovered this film I thought it was fantastic, when I saw his later stuff like Resident Evil and AVP I thought what happened to the guy that made Event Horizon!
    Well I revisited the film a couple of years ago to review on my channel and it went way down haha. I also made comments in that review about Cooper’s scene where he’s flying out of the ship, it’s just so slapstick and ridiculous and when the first half of the movie is taking itself seriously it felt really out of place to me. And the first 2/3 of the film is still pretty good, intriguing and unsettling but I really didn’t like how they handled the final 20 mins or so!

      If they'd have stuck the landing I'd consider it as a minor classic.

      It’s a great idea for a sci-fi horror movie. I think just the way the film made you consider the most nightmarish things about this ship and then it ends with a guy having a fist fight with a demon, it was too silly! I tend to have this with movies though, if the ending is bad then I can sometimes forget or lose appreciation for how great the setup was

    Personally, I would have liked a bit more of bomb guy's internal thoughts when he discovers the device. Maybe something like "Nooooooooo" would have done it. Do you not agree?
    Second thoughts, the silence was probably the right way to go :)
    He could not have picked a worse moment to find that thing could he? A minute earlier, maybe he has a chance to do something (?). If he was a minute too late, on the other hand, he would have died without enduring that brief agony of 'knowing'. That's horror, I guess.

      He has about 6 seconds and there's literally a disarm button right in the middle of the screen, so he could have saved the ship if he acted quickly instead of praying.

      Michael Bay > Paul WS Anderson

      @@BryanLomaxi was saying that bay is better than Anderson because bay can at least provide some admirable spectacle

    • @BryanLomax
      @BryanLomax  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@adamcade604 oh I agree. I still don't rate Bay very highly but, then, I've never rated Anderson all that highly either. Between the two of them Bay has definitely got the best movie under his belt with 13 Hours and The Rock. But he also has the worst, with Pain & Gain and any Transformers sequel. Most of Anderson's movies tend to be reasonably solid 3 star films, but nothing special. Bay has made a few 4 star films but he's also made more than his fair share of 2 out of fives.
