just found out i had my mic backwards for 3 years thanks to this review
Xenonia lol
hahahahahah holy shit.
*curb your enthusiasm*
Yeah I've been talking into the top of it for the better part of 2 years now lol
OOF.
F
Oh my gosh thats incredible
The UM2 might be a bit too cheap to recommend as the interface since the preamps in it cause a bit more white noise. The UMC22 costs about $20 more and would be a much higher quality; honestly doesn't deserve to be as good as it is at that price point. Awesome review today Adam; keep up the great work. ^^
Thanks for watching!
I use them both, I got the UMC22 for cheap and they work great together.
I have the U-PHORIA UM2, and would honestly say there is no reason to step up for a beginner. it is very good for the money, and if you are penny pinching to the point of buying a mic for as cheap as possible, spending $20 more on an bit better of an amp just doesnt really make sense IMHO
@@BigMan7o0 you can usually find it for less than a $20 difference. It's about a $5-8 difference here and it's worth it for the better quality of parts and sound.
@@alichakra If you can afford the higher end one sure, but I feel like most people penny pinching to this much of an extreme (buying a $20 mic some people maybe even waiting for it to be discounted further) really won't benefit much from a higher end amp, because quite frankly I think the quality "bottleneck" would be on the mic in both scenarios, and the better amp would do very little or most likely nothing for quality. If you start getting into the $50+ range I think that's the point where you should start considering the bit better one, and definitely if you have plans for anything high end mic wise get the better one 100%
You dogged this mic and it didn't even sound bad
"Reviewers" _always_ do that because they don't have the balls to say "hey this is as good as an $800 mic". I've tested these "golden-ears brigade", many times with double-blind tests and they have to resort to 50/50 guessing. There is absolutely _no_ muffling in this video. Looked like he had something to plot the signal....so compare the signal analyses and let's see what's going-on.
3:33 is Swagger Souls Mode.
As a ~$20 microphone, the quality is deceptively good, but for $4 on a flash sale? The value is incredible!
Edit: long time BM-800 user myself, although I use mine primarily for voice conferencing.
For a beginner RUclips like me it works great!
I use this as a boom mic, and it's worked wonders for me. An important thing to note with this mic is that it sounds quite mediocre over the included 3.5mm to xlr cable included (I got much worse results than the ones in the video over 3.5mm). Recently I decided to try using it with phantom power and XLR, and that's where it shines. It genuinely sounds on par with my $600 Sony lav mic kit to my (albeit untrained) ear. I've been using two of these for any of my on camera recording for the past year now, and i don't see that changing for a while.
Did you use the kit cable for phantom power?
Ageing rocker getting back into playing bass and guitar salutes you (and subsequently subscribes to channel). Very useful information, thank you.
That sounds pretty damn clean, mate. I'm really impressed with your review too. I didn't really notice any difference between the computer and the interface. It seems like a good deal for just voice acting and reading ASMR videos.
@Phan⸸omS⸸ranger ⛧ Oh, interesting.
Ah the $4 deal! Got one of these too and am loving it (coming from a headset prior to). Am surprised that XLR to 3.5mm cable makes the mic work fairly decently, but for sure interface is the way to go with this.
$4? If you are paying a certain amount per month it is not $4 lol smh americans
@@hidayat1999 bruh Wtf r u talking abt.
@@hidayat1999 ???
@@hidayat1999 ..a certain amount per month....lol????????🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@loadi2865 they subscribe to Amazon prime. Amazon prime cost + $4 = total amount spent which is greater than the original price.
Therefore the true amount is not actually $4 and it's misleading to say it only cost $4
Something people should know. Apart from perhaps the pink input socket he mentions (news to me), the included cable won't work to carry phantom power, you need to buy an XLR to XLR cable to plug into an interface or other source of phantom power. Initially I put an adaptor on the 3.5ml jack to plug it into the interface, it doesn't work.
The included cables work for dynamic microphones, but not the microphone they come with!
yup. SURE WILL 5V ON THE RING OF A 3.5 TRS. xlr xlr p48 is theoretically better.
Hm! I bought this microphone (with the arm) during a sale too. It's been alright! Mine also came with a thing thing to boost the power or something. It's been decent. I eventually got a cheap mixer that delivers 48v (don't remember if it said phantom power on the description). For the price, it works for what I need.
Been using this for like a year now with the Uphoria UM2 and i love it, everyone i speak to asks what i'm using and they are perplexed it was that cheap.
*I m going to purchase this* ❤️
Dont. Please.
@@xtc3dresearchteam744 Yes.
I just ordered this yesterday for online school. It seems okay plus it comes with the arm, clamp, holder and the cable and microphone. Seems like a good deal plus the fact you don't NEED phantom power... not a bad beginner Microphone.
WRONG! 48 or 5 v -- it is a "condenser" mic and needs power. Get a clue mate.
for a mic that cheap , it sounds great ! . as a starting streamer or youtuber you won't need any better , maybe a usb cable.
This whole time i never knew that i have to speak on a certain side.. 😂 no wonder it wasnt hearing me lmak
Sounds better than the turtle beach haha - as for the windscreen its to protect the $4 plastic haha
thanks for your info
Just got the BM800 but doesnt sound like that with basic setup what am i doing wrong?
Turn it around?
Not gonna trade in my Oktava MK-219s or 319s, but good to know that a super cheapy condenser can work in a pinch.
I found a kit selling with or without the phantom power. I use a full desktop pc and I was wondering do i really need to use a phantom power for this mic?
Phantom power is required if you're running it to a USB interface or mixer. Not required if you're running to a desktop's pink mic in jack w/ a XLR to 3.5mm cable
@@EposVox Thank you!
OK if it works on a PC soundcard - which delivers 5V via something around 2.6 kOhm - then chances are it doesn't need full 48V via XLR - the pathetic something like 12V that most hobbyist XLR interfaces deliver and that routinely don't work with better condenser microphones might work here. Do you have one of those interfaces to test?
If i had one of these (but i don't need it and have no intention of buying, i have a better condenser microphone already), i'd probably try giving it a power box which feeds in 9V from one of those block batteries and AC couples the signal back to the soundcard via a capacitor.
Laptops, phones - it depends, it could be 5V, it's more likely to be 3V via 2-2.2kOhm or even lower voltage.
It's great for recording narration and talks but believe me, if you will go for singing with instruments (acuoustic) then this is definitely not the microphone you will be satisfied with
What do you recommend?
When you create a review so that you could read "The Lord of the Rings" out loud on RUclips.
Superb review. 😄
Got a bundle kit for 19€ a few days ago.
On Windows in the sound settings with the mic boost "on", it works alright.
Anyhow, gonna get a Motu M4 someday.
Dude, speak naturally. We used to call DJs with the up and down vocal pattern as "pukers." Your natural voice is pleasant and expressive. It took me 15 years to reach natural on the radio.
No one has the right to complain if this mic costs only $4.00
I know this video is 5 years old, but still it's a SUPER steal.
i bought a few of these they are incredible
I use this mic too and the buzzing is there like it is in his vid. It's not good but not bad
I came for the mic and stayed for the rings.
This microphone Sounds as good as the rhymes!
Better than I expected
Amazingly good. They will work with a phone via a splitter, and a laptop. If they laptop has a single socket, use a splitter.
you sound like the narrator from the BE AMAZED YT channel.
I got this for around 15 USD, with an arm and a little phantom power supply and it was so good for me
Really for a basic mic it's not that bad. I use it for my channel and I'm fine with it. I don't do a lot of talking in my videos anyways. I use XRL with it and a PreSonus bluetube preamp tho.
How would you rate this Against that Tonor BM-700 you tested? and also this might be obvious but just to make sure, all BM 800/700 mics are the same, regardless of their brand names right?
Some say they are the same, but in the reviews the 700 is often found better, yet to my ears 800 sounds better because it at least has some bass, the 700 sounds tinnier.
I think the windscreen is a legitimate way to tame that 10kHz peak that electrets have. That said, if you are really strapped for cash a day's panhandling could buy you a much better mic than the BM800. Get an SM57 at a pawn shop for pete's sake.
I just got this along with the kit pop filter and all
You only need a somewhat decent USB soundcard if you don't have a proper MIC IN on the computer.
Can be found for around $5.
Reading LotR made me smile and hit liked. lol thanks for the review
Ah the front page of Amazon microphone. It's definitely a great value - especially if you can get it for as low as 4 dollars - although it still does kinda show that it's a really budget microphone.
$4??! If that's good, I'm getting that!
Dude there is a bad hiss
@@CalebLegend I can use obs to filter out
And such hiss would be covered up by bg music or game sound
@@EposVox trueee
We can use bm800 on ps4,mobile,xbox without phantom power you just need a 2 aux connector, phantom power just increases the performance.THANKS
Four freaking dollars?!!! (Btw can u review the fifine k670)
Not horrible but super high noise floor.
Can i use it for my PS4 if i have a sound card that has a usb to plug it directly into my PS4
am i the only one who didnt find any difference with or without the other cable
Hey dude i have a question.. do you have to connect it to anything to power it???
$5 is worth for the shock mount alone not to mention the mic itself.
It works great with my smartphone I just had to buy a adapter for it
Wtf with the down thumbs. I appreciate this review. Typing, ac, etc. Ty man
mic sounds pretty good in your video :)
sounds amazing with the "pop filter" but as soon as you took it off the Ps were really painful to listen to, really good with it on though
I have the same mic under a different brand. Been using it with a Behringer xenyx 804 then a 1204 and the quality is good with a little bit of gain. My only issue is it grabs a lot of the background noise in my basement and other noises in the house. Would this mic benifit from a DBX 286s like you have recommended in the past? I didn't notice much difference between the raw and processed audio feeds.
What kind of cable would I need to be able to hook this up to a macbook laptop?
Yeah thats a good question, somebody should provide you with a answer...
You might doubt the usability of a wind shield as a pop filter, but it worked quite fine, as we could hear once you took it off. ;)
Worked, yes, as effectively as a real one, no.
Probably. But for me personally on my setup (RØDE Procaster on either a RØDE WS-2 Windshield or the JZ Microphones JZ-PF Popfilter) it does not make a difference. :)
I plugged this in to my motherboard's onboard audio (ASUS TUF Gaming X570 WiFi) and it needs 30db boost in the Sound Control panel to be even usable at within 3 inches. Hopefully the phantom power I ordered can help.
Hey, how did you get that super quality? I am using the same mic but it's hard to get that quality. I am really surprised after hearing this audio quality so how you got it can you do a video like how to do setting properly for BM 800 to get such quality? Thanks in advance 😃
You need an (usb) audio interface with 48v phantom power (like Behringer UMC22), then connect the mic in there and the audio interface to ur pc!
@@MaximusAdonicus Thanks 😃 now I saw this reply again thanks 😊
Holy noise Batman! I have no idea why people are saying this sounds great? That noise is obscene on the Mic In. On the interface it sounds a lot better, but how many people are buying a $4 mic to go with a proper interface?
Can i connect the power of the audio interface to a surge protector or is it fine connected to the wall away from everything else being connected to the surge protector??
can it be used for voice over ..I mean like audiobook professional recording ?!!
It's useful for broadcasting but not for professional recording.
I tried it on my phone with just the main cable from the mic going into the phones headphone jack. And it works just fine. Waaay better than just the phone itself.... yall spoiled
Kung gusto nyung malaks ang mic nyu kahit malayo, kumuha ng preamp. Mabu-boost ung signal non. Ung 48v kasi pinapatakbo lng ung mic.
BM800 Mircrophones are very popular amongst the mic modding community because they are so easy to hack.
What if I'm using a laptop but with voicemeeter audio interface software ? Is it possible ? Please answer. Thanks
Sounds fuller without the windscreen. Can you use it upside down?
pls help which one should i buy?

I bought this Mic a long time ago and didn't know it's not for laptop no wonder I couldn't get it to work, any one recommend a phantom source for laptop for budget?
This actually works really well with my android phone . No need the power supply. Just need a headphone and mic splitter .
saya suka yang ini
Nice Vid Buddy :)

Thanks for subscribing!
This definitely a streamer mic at best im looking for a vocal worthy mic for music
If you’re going to be picky, you’re not going to find what you want for $4 lol
Don't kbow why but i think you sound the same on most of the mics you test
My voice is just that good xD
How is this mic compared to a TZ Stellar X2? Podcasting and streaming
Question. I have the UMC404HD too. Every time I install the driver, I have a lot of bugs. It works fine without, but as I'm also using it for music and therefore need the ASIO-driver. I experience the output simply stops working even though Windows sees it. Also sometimes I can't play back video in the browser. Sometimes it'll pop in delayed and maybe work for a bit then stop again.
Have you had similar experiences? If so, how did you fix it? :o)
Hmmm...That doesn't sound like a problem I've had with the UMC204HD. The different model shouldn't make a difference.
anyone know how good the arm is, is it stable or would a separate one be better? mic quality is great for the price, honestly better than the mics you see on $200+ "gaming" headsets, people need to buy good headphones + something like this!
So u can actually plug this behind the pink jack on ur motherboard?
Jesus I can hear the noise floor of the mobo
On my iPad
(It’s gone once plugged in to the UMC404)
i got the fosmon few dollars more EXACT SAME shock mount and same box like identical so I wonder how they differ
just got this for 40 dollars, with arm and everything included
Where
@@sayyblue8573 ebay, was on discount
and what do you think about it?
Is it good like in the start of the vid without any settings and phatom power?
I just ordered mine for 35$ with same stuff like yours!
@@XyOzfpsW yeah it's good for the price
does anyone know how to remove the buzzing noise. its like whenever i talk there will be a buzzing or static-y noise then if i stop talking it's gone
Jfc.. $4 is a steal .
Hi, is it good enough for recording Piano? Thanks
wtf... this actually sounds good for the price. IM CONFUSED
I know rigut this sounds AMAZING wow lol
Just bookmarking 4:09
can it work on the pc if you have a usb adapter for microphone
My G I have a weird type of cord that looks like a "V" and i connect it to my Xbox one and my laptop and it works 100%
can you review the blue digital spark? i cant seem to find too many high quality reviews on it
man for 20$ mic it sounds very good on my trashy monitor's speakers, how did you achived that?
Wich type of microphones can i buy for a phone?
does this work on ps4 with a usb adapter ??
how come i cant find the gain setting on my mic ?
Hey man, you're getting unecessarily high plosives, if you talk off line to the diaphragm instead of square on you can guide the air to the side of it, it will help, the pop of your plosives is annoying...need a pop filter.
damn this sounds good
its worth it bruh. its 4 dollars thats legit how much money you can find on the floor and its basically free
Could you please tell me how to know if my interface gives out 48V of phantom power?
It would have a button that says phantom power or 48v
@@EposVox well the button just says "Phantom power" but the site says +48V so I GUESS it should work, I just hope I bought the right interface, anyways, thanks for being so quick to answer.
Can I connect bm 800 directly to my Nikon dslr
mybe u can but the sound quality was not very good because it need phantom power/audio mixer
God that noise is strong
