      @@joaopedroferreira1746 You're not really countering my statement by saying the above. OK, recreationals have fun which is a win. Fun != financial (so this says nothing about winning or losing financially). Yes if everybody plays GTO (in the long term) there should be no winners or losers. Irrelevant. And yes you are right it is not the poker pro's fault degens exist. By saying this you say there are losers (financially) :p. Poker = zero sum game. A win in the field = a loss somewhere else in the field.

    Theres actually alot of crossover in appeal for poker and MMA
    They are both very skill based with a lot of luck involved, and alot of emotions are on the line.
    It's high stakes emotions, and emotions are what people are paying for when they buy a fight. To be excited, upset angry happy or sad.

    GTO isn't just GTO against GTO, if you know the opponents range you can apply GTO to that range. I guess you could call that exploitive but I think that is just stupid given that the scenarios are the same, i.e. player is playing X range, this the optimal response.

    I actually took the time to listen to his comments on the "collusion", and Alex came off super likable, but he is LYING in that part of the podcast. He could have made more money from his set of jacks vs. Kristen's AA, and he knows it. He's justifying a river decision, when he could have gotten it in against AA on the flop or turn and stacked her. Watch the hand, he's literally giving her looks to project how strong his hand was and trying to help her. His river sizing is absurd anyway, because even if she finds a fold because he warned her off, he wouldn't bet that size against anyone else in that spot, it's a three-bet pot where you flopped a set and the opponent has AA a lot, you must go for a lot of value there, unless it's your girlfriend then of course bet 1/6 pot.

    • @justinhart7172

      if she folds to that river size vs him whats she going to do when he goes all in on river vs him ?

    • @cardboardu6019
      @cardboardu6019 5 лет назад

      @@justinhart7172 How closely did you read my comment? You're not responding to anything I said. I called his river sizing absurd, because it was, find me someone else who bets that size in a similar spot. But on the river there are more hands in his range that beat her, and she had the benefit of all the strength he had shown and his body language. He acknowledged that his body language wasn't normal, and I have never been in a spot like that, so I accept that, but I think if he was trying to take all her chips there are clearly more aggressive lines that will likely get more money against aces there. But I accept the weirdness of the scenario and he seems like a nice guy. Also ICM doesn't exist post-flop once you flop top set on a dry board. It explains some of what she did, and his pre-flop just call, but there is no ICM fear with the nuts, he played passively.

      @@cardboardu6019 ICM doesn't exist pre-flop? It exists for her when she has only 1 pair 40bb deep vs another 40bb stack and a 3rd guy is sitting there with 12bb. She has to be very careful and she was. Also, she knows Alex is not going to get in 40bb without a very strong hand. She lost the minimum in the hand because she's that good and she knows her opponent, not because they were colluding. I've played with her and she's absurdly good.

      @@kcc1762 Bro can you read? Me: "ICM doesn't exist post-flop once you flop top set on a dry board" You: " ICM doesn't exist pre-flop?" So yea the opposite of what I said. I said ICM explains what she did throughout, and what he did pre flop. I stated the simple fact that ICM disappears for the person with the nuts post-flop, because they can't lose. It's a basic factual statement that runs counter to part of what he was saying. I think his response to Doug is right, and I imagine the solvers said what he says they said. If you respond to me to disagree with me thats totally cool, but make sure we disagree. Maybe he couldn't have gotten any more money, but with JJ against AA there.. it's a good spot to try, especially flop and turn, there is so little for AA to possibly lose to midway thru that hand. Still... Very possible he's not making more because she was the opponent.

      @@cardboardu6019 Lol. post flop is what i meant to say. My point is he was never going to stack her because she is very ICM aware and had only 1 pair. Aces is an easy fold if he jams on the flop or turn. The way he played the hand was actually the best way to get max value. And she still managed to get away from a small bet on the river because she's so good.
