For Android/Samsung users: Squid and OneNote are currently your best bet in terms of handwritten note taking apps! To unlock every function on Squid, its literally a DOLLAR a month and it's wonderful. The only thing I don't like about OneNote on my samgsung tab is that I don't have many color options in terms of pens/highlighters?? At least it was at one pont so keep that in mind (:
I absolutely agree on One-Note. For taking the notes I prefer the lower tech Rocketbook. Easier to carry, nice to use, gets the notes to where they need to be.
i really love the aesthetic of the video and how informative is but i kinda feel left out since you start off by saying that 'you need' an iPad/Macbook/Apple device and i can't afford one lol I know it sounds stupid bc i should assume that i can do the same with an android device and a stylus but i would appreciate if you were more neutral about the devices
These devices are just used most often by digital notetakers, however there are plenty other much more affordable tablets/laptops where this is completely possible as well. I apologize that this video sounded like it was not inclusive. I should have mentioned that other device/stylus combinations are just as viable. 😊 Thank you for bringing that up and for watching this video!
got a used ipad mini 2 for 110$ and getting a 26$ pen in ~11 days. A bit scary cause if it's not decent I probably wasted money on both if it works, then got great tech tools for cheap.
Well, a used tab s3 is around +200 pounds on Ebay still. But you got options. Particularly if you want to handwrite and type on Android, an app that knocks something like GoodNotes straight to the nursery is Lecture Notes (the one with the red icon). Onenote is great on PC but not so good on tablets. Still, it covers all OS types.
All you need to invest in is a decent laptop with a touchscreen (I prefer a laptop since it's just faster for me to do things on a laptop as opposed to a tablet). Doesn't necessarily have to be a Macbook or iPad, those are way too much imo. I got away with the hardest science classes basically with a laptop and a word document.
Hello! It was an excellent video. Can you please tell what is the storage option for your iPad? How long have you been using it? And how much storage have you filled up? I have recently purchased an iPad Pro 64 GB version mainly for note-taking and studying but already having storage anxiety.
As a Computer Science University student, digital note taking has made everything much more efficient. Purchasing an iPad was one of the best investments i've made. I personally love both Notability and Goodnotes 5! :)
Such a helpful video! Can I ask which version of OneNote you are using on the MacBook Air? Mine has a different layout and limited features despite being the latest version and on the same device :'(
Can you maybe do a video on tips about how we can use digital note taking when outside of school? I have already have the ipad, the apple pen, and the apps for note taking...but I'm still a junior in high school and don't have enough confidence in taking my ipad to school because someone can steal it or etc. Is there any tips you can give on what else I can do even if I do the note taking outside of school? • PS. Loved how informative your video was💜 :)
I know there's some people that hand write their notes on paper and then they transfer it onto their ipads.. sounds like a lot of work, but you're actually helping yourself learn it better in the long run because you have to rewrite it and actually understand it at your own pace.
I totally understand why you would feel uncomfortable bringing your iPad to school. Of course, like BvggedLex said, you can handwrite your notes on paper (since it's essentially the same as writing on the iPad, just without all the digital-ness), and you can actually SCAN those notes from your iPad once you are home so you have a copy of your lecture notes on your iPad! I would do that, put the scanned notes side by side with your fave note-taking app and rewrite the notes from there.
Anette Castro record your lectures using a digital recorder (or voice record app on your phone) and then listen to the audio lecture when you get home and use your ipad to take notes as you listen to the audio. You can use your phone to take pics of anything notable on the ‘board’ and incorporate them directly into your ipad notes.
I think annotating is passive way of being an active learner. Because writing on PowerPoint slides shows that you’re not taking the time to read, and transcribe the information into your own words. I learned this from Study Less, Study Smart: What I wish I would’ve done by Med School Insiders on RUclips. Instead of PowerPoints stick to the note taking methods you usually do for synthesizing information. And also I suggest making summary sheets, as they can help you brief up what’s covered in the lecture. Hope that helps.
this is what i love about the human experience because i have a completely different experience. i find that annotating pdfs help me focus more on what the teacher is saying and incorporating that into my notes instead of trying to scribble out what the slides say before the prof switches them since that can make me stop listening to the prof in order to write
@@DistractedTv Oh annotating on PDF's is fine I heard there's a program or app called PDFelement, you can search it online and I heard you can transform your materials into anything maybe like PowerPoint, there are different options. The only downside is if you don't have the money because now these days people is gonna have to pay per month for certain things. Such as phones and for expensive furniture. pdf.wondershare.com/ And I saw they have education pricing for students and faculty members!!:O pdf.wondershare.com/buy/pdfelement-mac.html?.xwkZgl64RfyWgOz_OU1iVg.0&A%2F%2Fpdf.wondershare.com%2F
Is there a way to use the microphone and record lectures as you are taking your notes? I would think you would be able to go back to the lecture and correct or add notes that you missed. I do not know how well the microphone would be able to pick up a lecture as I have not received my iPad yet.
The only issue with Microsoft for students is that when the school doesn’t have password reset recovery, for logging onto any app versions of Microsoft apps. Then a student can’t log in because of their password is not allowing them to access the app. This is why I prefer note-taking app that doesn’t require you to log in, but I still have to use OneDrive as they have 1TB of storage for students to use. I need to go back and have my password reset, when I go back to class the first week of September.
Onenote is free. What you said is relevant if you for some reason choose to use school id and stuff. Otherwise you can setup multiple recovery options. Another option is not to be stupid with your passwords either have it coded and saved in multiple locations or use same passwords for 95% of what you use except where you have your credit card saved(amazon, apple id, etc).
Great video! I’ve been digital for over a year. Started out with one note and had an issue after three months where EVERYTHING in my library disappeared from every platform. No idea what happened, but it was absolutely devastating as all my notes for my exams were on there and I had to essentially start over. after that I switched to GoodNotes and google docs, using google docs to write on the computer which I then export to GoodNotes as a pdf so I can annotate them 😊
I've heard that the regular iPad 2018 is the best option if you're just into taking notes. It's cheaper too. I'm not sure if you were aware of that or not just wanted to give you a heads up :)
Tip: don’t make beautiful and aesthetic notes in class. Annotate them on your laptop. Then u can make notes at home and you will feel amazing when you are starting your homework 📚
hello! ive got a question because ive been trying to figure out howto do it for like 20 minutes, how do I add the aggitha font to onenote? i literally cant find anyway how to, google doesn't help at all. please I'm getting so frustrated!
my clinical instructors doesn't provide us with the powerpoints. But it's from the book provided and other books and some are taken from the internet. I feel left out...
Yes, I do! You can see how I do that in my "How I Prepare for a New Semester". I do like to switch up how I do my digital planning so a lot of the time I do that on my phone as well, through Google Calendar. :]
hello mam, I would like to share a problem I face while writing notes, lots of time gets wasted while writing. So, I request you to give me some tips to write fast and neatly. Expecting help from anyone< Thankyou!
Do you use a font for your note titles? (@ 1:35 you have Central Venous Catheters as a title for your notes). I really love the look and would love to use it for my notes if it is indeed a type of font!
Really you can have either a Mac book or pc. It doesn’t matter. But if you have to chose between a Mac book and a iPad Pro choose an iPad Pro, you can do computer stuff and iPad stuff all together on one device.
From my perspective, I think you don’t need a Mac 🖥 at at all because an iPad is the easiest way to take note. You can do both typing and handwriting there.
If Im an accounting students, do you guys preferred me to do digital notes. Cuz I am thinking whether is it necessary for me to buy it. Any suggestion?

When you have android-
Noteshelf
I use squid, more simple, but I Loved!
Concepts is also good
@@amorerobinson4140 I used consepts but its too laggy. Is it because of the last update?
Onenote & Notion are really good
This is so helpful! This will be my 2nd semester back in “harder classes” I did my last 4 years of my bachelors as an art major so it’s been a transition. Plus I also got a job doing guided study sessions on A&P1, essentially I’ll be sitting in A&P 1 and taking A&P2 at the same time. Fun.
I find courses like that are the best for digital notes 🤣 you are going to do great! Good luck!
These videos are so well done. Excellent work!!!!
You have such a sweet voice in your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for all your videos! I start my first semester of Nursing school next week & I just bought an iPad and Apple pencil to go paperless, you just saved me!!
I downloaded notability when it first came out years ago...then it was free. Now you have to pay for it, but I never had to anymore..
Buy a paper like screen protector for your tablet to give you that satisfaction
I want to so bad but it makes the screen look a bit grainy.
@@lolunderstated533 I just installed it about a week ago on my 2018 11in ipad pro and it is barely noticeable.
RuskiVodka lol how do you install a screen protector ahahhah
Thank you so much for all of your videos, I'm a dental student thinking to go digital and your videos have been extremely helpful.
Thanks again🙏
Hey guys! Thanks for watching :-) Hope this was a helpful intro to digital notes for you. Also please don't mind my voice - it's still a little stuffy from my cold :(
Please stay tuned for upcoming videos on:
How to Make Digital Notes with OneNote
How to Make Digital Notes with GoodNotes/Notability
Effective Colour Coding System for Notes
Janice Studies - You are seriously the best!! Can’t wait for more upcoming videos! 👏🏻👏🏻😊😊😊
For Android/Samsung users:
Squid and OneNote are currently your best bet in terms of handwritten note taking apps!
Also inkredible is amazing for note taking. I personally prefer it over squid and OneNote for handwritten notes
Your notes look amazing - well done putting together and using your schema consistently
your penmanship is really beautiful by the way
Where did you learn cursive? I thought they abandoned teaching that, which is a shame. Your handwriting is meticulous!
OneNote's multiDevice capability makes it the best in my opinion.
I love how you use little doodles to explain what you’re saying! Awesome video!!
mean while I have a Chromebook duet so it can take to keyboard off and use it as a touch screen so that's handy
Omg best timing I bought an iPad 2 days ago!
Would you be surprised if a 12-year-old wanted to download GoodNotes 5 to learn or take notes about Nutritional Medicine?
i really love the aesthetic of the video and how informative is but i kinda feel left out since you start off by saying that 'you need' an iPad/Macbook/Apple device and i can't afford one lol
I know it sounds stupid bc i should assume that i can do the same with an android device and a stylus but i would appreciate if you were more neutral about the devices
Omggg luv this ❤ I do aesthetic notes too 🎉
As a Computer Science University student, digital note taking has made everything much more efficient. Purchasing an iPad was one of the best investments i've made. I personally love both Notability and Goodnotes 5! :)
Did you purchase the air or pro? Thank you!
Such a helpful video! Can I ask which version of OneNote you are using on the MacBook Air? Mine has a different layout and limited features despite being the latest version and on the same device :'(
Thanks for including those extra links!
6:34 you have to write fast with normal paper
Can you maybe do a video on tips about how we can use digital note taking when outside of school? I have already have the ipad, the apple pen, and the apps for note taking...but I'm still a junior in high school and don't have enough confidence in taking my ipad to school because someone can steal it or etc. Is there any tips you can give on what else I can do even if I do the note taking outside of school?

PS.
@@JaniceStudies @BvggedLex Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it :)
Consider a Rocketbook (or similar).
"this is what every notetaker uses" .. i studied 5 years and only had a surface pro. period.

Unfortunately I can’t use technology at school for my notes but I’m planning to use my iPad to do practice questions and write ‘neat’ notes
Is there a way to use the microphone and record lectures as you are taking your notes? I would think you would be able to go back to the lecture and correct or add notes that you missed. I do not know how well the microphone would be able to pick up a lecture as I have not received my iPad yet.
What’s the music at the end? 😍 Thanks for the video!
Absolutely enjoyed the video!! I’m actually planning on switching to digital notetaking, so this was very very helpful.
Thank you so much💘
Where did you get your fonts for your OneNote titles??
The only issue with Microsoft for students is that when the school doesn’t have password reset recovery, for logging onto any app versions of Microsoft apps. Then a student can’t log in because of their password is not allowing them to access the app.
This is why I prefer note-taking app that doesn’t require you to log in, but I still have to use OneDrive as they have 1TB of storage for students to use. I need to go back and have my password reset, when I go back to class the first week of September.
Onenote is free. What you said is relevant if you for some reason choose to use school id and stuff.
Otherwise you can setup multiple recovery options. Another option is not to be stupid with your passwords either have it coded and saved in multiple locations or use same passwords for 95% of what you use except where you have your credit card saved(amazon, apple id, etc).
gytis dramblewolfskis I have Microsoft Authenticator but I don’t know how to do that for my school account. lol
@@carolinathevampireprincess why use school account?
Great video! I’ve been digital for over a year. Started out with one note and had an issue after three months where EVERYTHING in my library disappeared from every platform. No idea what happened, but it was absolutely devastating as all my notes for my exams were on there and I had to essentially start over. after that I switched to GoodNotes and google docs, using google docs to write on the computer which I then export to GoodNotes as a pdf so I can annotate them 😊
Yu helped me with HELLP too !
Thank you so much I’m pretty young but my teacher said in order to get into a Ballet tech school i have to study more, this was very helpful!
I’m getting the iPad Pro JUST for notes , I’m trying to become paperless because it becomes MESSY.
Another Nurse that's a Janice! Amazing!! Sending love from UK!
hello! ive got a question because ive been trying to figure out howto do it for like 20 minutes, how do I add the aggitha font to onenote? i literally cant find anyway how to, google doesn't help at all. please I'm getting so frustrated!
I'm honestly soo glad your channel exist and I'm glad I subscribed and have notifications on, its extremely helpful. Thank youu,💕😆
Thank you so much for your support and for turning your notifications on!
this is such a highly ineffective form of studying combined with the hours of pretting up the notes when apposed to just using active recall.
my clinical instructors doesn't provide us with the powerpoints. But it's from the book provided and other books and some are taken from the internet. I feel left out...
Whatever I'm becoming a stripper. Haha jokes... Unless
I could definitely improve my digital note-taking habits. Thanks for sharing!
Wow I really wish I had an iPad in college! 😭
Do you also do digital planning as well?
Yes, I do! You can see how I do that in my "How I Prepare for a New Semester". I do like to switch up how I do my digital planning so a lot of the time I do that on my phone as well, through Google Calendar. :]
great video aside, as a medical student myself, I'm in love with your notes 😭 it's so neat and organized and pretty ❤️
hello mam, I would like to share a problem I face while writing notes, lots of time gets wasted while writing. So, I request you to give me some tips to write fast and neatly. Expecting help from anyone< Thankyou!
hey if u guys wanna buy a screen protector thing just like paperlike, go on taobao!! i got mine for like $2 usd it's amazing!!
I suggest you notes writer because good notes and notability cost some money and I use notes writer it works great
Why does everyone go for an ipad or macbook? Graphic tablet can also be used as an affordable alternative.
I have note smartphone with a samsung tablet (no pen). Should I buy a tablet with s pen as well?
can anybody here kindly help me fix the error about being unable to sync my onenote document from laptop
What if we don’t have a imac labtop , but a desktop only and planning on getting a iPad Pro
Is digital note taking just as effective as traditional note taking in terms of memory retention?
I love your videos . Go on and do hard .
Your channel is useful ❤
Great content as always janice ! wondering what do you use to edit your videos ? :)
How can i take notes and live class in same device at same time?
who passed medicine without apple devices like me ?
From my perspective, I think you don’t need a Mac 🖥 at at all because an iPad is the easiest way to take note. You can do both typing and handwriting there.
If Im an accounting students, do you guys preferred me to do digital notes. Cuz I am thinking whether is it necessary for me to buy it. Any suggestion?
This video is very well made and very detailed
imagine how tired she must be from people sayin "oh...my...GOD" when she says her name...
This is super helpful. Thanks for sharing. Apart from your great content, may I ask which program did you use to record and edit this awesome video of yours please?
How do you get your downloaded fonts into OneNote? I can't get to mine in OneNote
I don't know whether to buy laptop or Ipad?
