The facts is the average NBA player is 6'6 and the average WNBA player is 6 feet. Also men have on average 50% more muscle than women. Why are women offended when men suggest to lower the rim? The WNBA is playing on a height of the rim based on it being challenging enough for men, not women. Basketball should be equal as challenging for women than for men, not more challenging than men's basketball by having them play on a rim height that is meant for men. Lowering the rim should not be seen as an insult, it's leveling the playing field.

  • @djjackson24

Gil Arenas said it the best. The woman are literally focused on themselves and not the league as a whole. CC literally is carrying the league on her back because the past 25 years, no one wanted to watch anything with the WNBA. Thats why the players don't have these shoe deals and commercials is because no one knows who they are. Sabrina was a huge Kobe fan and had his same mentality and that boosted her marketing. Brianna Stewart was a baller at UConn and that's a national team with national televised games so people knew who she was and she is marketable. They need to be careful and have kid gloves with CC, because if she was to get hurt and be out for the season, all the profits that she would bring in for those games and merchandise and what not, would be gone.

Unfortunately, past and current legends like Diana Taurasi, Candace Parker and Aja Wilson are just being swept under the rug. It took Dr J and Kareem, then Magic and Larry, then MJ, Hakeem and Chuck then Shaq, AI and Kobe then Lebron and Steph. It wasn’t just one dude. This misses the reality of what the WNBA currently does. Everybody talks about profit, but the WNBA plays in the NBA off-season where revenue is WAY down. The WNBA is less about profit and more about loss mitigation. ANY money the WNBA makes versus the costs of maintaining a stadium, staff, and marketing infrastructure in the off-season is vastly preferable. To pretend that there is not a significant financial up-side to the team owners to have a WNBA team as well their NBA team is to deeply misunderstand what kind of people own sports teams. These are not charities or passion projects. These are serious businessmen who care about one thing and one thing only; money. The team is an vehicle to make money and nothing more.
So, the real reason WNBA players are not paid better is because currently the books can be made to look like the teams are not profitable an the owners look so very generous to keep the team going at all. In reality, they are saving tens of millions every year and keeping their staff paid an on the payroll in the off-season by having some revenue coming in instead of nothing or the trickle that the NBA generates in the off-season.
If you think anything otherwise, you need to take a class on business finance. Idiotic statements like "this is the NBA giving charity to the WNBA" just show your significant ignorance of how sports business works. None of these owners in the NBA are "donating" shit.

As the WNBA commissioner has stated...
"The way that all the leagues that do have charters get funded is through enormous media rights deals," Engelbert said. "This is why we're working so hard to transform the economics of our league. We want to build a revenue stream -- at the league plus the team level -- where we have bigger corporate sponsorships stepping up.
"I'm obviously very vocal about the fact that there's a huge undervaluation in women's sports of our media rights. We've got to right-size that in our next round of media negotiations."
"I'm thinking very hard about how we can do this," she said of charters. "And it's all in the next round of media negotiations and bringing in bigger corporate partners because that's how we -- the teams and the league -- would be able to fund it.
"I know a lot of people are saying, 'OK, let's take $25-$30 million and just divide it by 12.' But that's not how it's going to work in reality, because we don't want to jeopardize the financial viability of this league by putting the full onus on either the league or the owners. We're all in this together."

Um, yes. Lower the rim to appease the people who don't want to watch it for what it is. It's not about you. Like any other form of entertainment, you should WANT to appeal to those who don't watch...so they watch...and then you get paid.

How can you hate on her when her presence is bringing the sponsorships that we’ve been crying for for years??? You’ve asked for it, now whichever way it comes be grateful for the change that’s about to take place, for the good. I agree with Barkley and Lebron. Stop hating!

The best thing about Caitlin Clark is that she’s a breath of fresh air in the WNBA. But people need to keep in mind that she’s a rookie like everyone else. Also it will take at least five years before we actually see the full impact that she’s is making in the league. The problem is that the women want to be equal or be greater than the men right now.

The thug behavior is more of an issue. Angel Reese was horse collared the other night and knocked to the ground. That's even illegal in football a contact sport. Kamilla Cardosa had her shoulder smashed and is out for a month. Catlain got pulverized on a screen that none of her teammates warned her about. In addition, her next injury, the ankle was a result of her fear of getting pulverized again on a screen. She looked petrified as she tried to put on the brakes and twisted her ankle. Turasi kept it real and Swoopes apologized. So there have not been a lot of negative comments from the WNBA players. The media is going to be the media and they are just as guilty as not one player has said a thing about her sexuality. EXCEPT THE MEDIA.

She worked to get as good as she is.. it was handed to her..

I am not an Iowa fan, despite living 20 miles from the university. I never watched a woman's game until the 2023 finals. I may not even be a Caitlin Clark fan- the jury is out. But, this woman is the Joe Namath of women's professional basketball. Namath changed the game, and is the reason NFL players started making a living playing football. Caitlin is the reason WNBA players will start earning money. Will others help? Of course! But they are not Caitlin Clark. TAKE NOTE- I AM THE STILL SMALL VOICE SAYING SHE WILL CHANGE THE GAME THE WAY NAMATH CHANGED THE GAME. So, yeah, I have a WNBA season pass. Because of Caitlin Clark. A BIG PLUS- since This is the real beginning of the WNBA, you don't get as many commercials as you get basketball. Pretty cool! NOW, TO GET THE OTHER WOMEN IN THE LEAGUE TO FIGURE IT OUT AND APPRECIATE HER INSTEAD OF BEATING HER UP!

Other passengers on the same flight with the Indiana Fever were being interviewed by the local news at DFW Airport and they were all shocked to see Caitlin Clark and the Fever on the same commercial flight. Then a few days later the chartered flights during the regular season was announced. The WNBA was embarrassed because the general public didn’t know that the WNBA flew commercial. 🤣🤣🤣
