That's awesome! It's high on my bucket list to build or restore an airplane. When did you start your build? Out of the RV-range the RV-8 is the most interesting to me and I think in the sim the RV-8 is also the best modeled one by SWS so far =)
@@vintagesimulationsI started a couple months ago. It’s probably going to take me a few more months to finish the empennage. Overall I’m looking at around 5 years to complete the whole thing, since I only have time to work on it during weekends. It’s been really fun so far though! I highly recommend getting the vans toolbox kit to practice building with. Better to mess that up than any airplane parts!
@@soulofastro awesome! 5 years sounds like a realistic timeframe. I wish you all the best for the endeavor, I'm sure it'll be fun =) A few years ago I helped a friend repair his Christen Eagle after a ground loop. Which included changing out the fuselage frame. If I remember correctly the repair took about two years. Haha that's true! I love that Vans does stuff like the toolbox kit or builder groups. I think they made it a lot easier getting into aircraft building.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it =) Yeah it is! When I think about a RV the RV-8 springs to mind. It's awesome to have such a great rendition of it in the sim now!
Fully agree! I think they are the best smoke effects I've seen in any sim so far and I don't know how SWS did it, it has little to no effect on the fps.
@@colourwheel20 Awesome, thanks for the info! I didn't know that Parallel42 was involved. I'm still thinking about getting their SimFX addon. I'm only holding back because MSFS2024 is right around the corner. But if the other effects are to the same standard as the RV's smoke, I'll probably get weak 😅
@@FlightSimVRDadyeah, I can't wait =) Did you see the preview pictures of the MSFS2024 Monument Valley they recently showed in the livestream? It'll be awesome!
It isn't, I caged it. In real life you cage the artificial horizon for aerobatics, otherwise it'll get damaged. SWS did an awesome job with the RV-8 ;)
SWS have recorded custom sounds for the RV-8, even going so far as to have individual soundsets for the 2-bladed and 3-bladed versions =) I really like both of them (the RV-10 as well), but I think I prefer the RV-8 overall, as it feels a bit sportier and the ground handling feels a bit better.
I'm in the middle of building my own rv8. I'm so happy I have something to practice with in the simulator now!

Mesmerizing video, thanks!

It is a homebuilding classic with quite the performance, nice flying and vid!

@@vintagesimulationsYep. They’re made by Parallel 42, who are excellent at these sorts of effects.

Nice flight! One of the first places I went to in the sim. Makes ya feel like John Wayne out there.
Thank you very much =) Yeah it really does...only our horses are a bit faster 😅 Can't believe I hadn't flown there before!

Are those stock sounds?
How does it compare to the RV 14? (If you have that)

How do u get it to just have the Pilot in the cockpit?
You can add or remove the passenger via the in-game fuel & load manager. Just set the passenger weight to zero and he or she is gone =)
