Hi there! This is some heavy nostalgia bomb you made here :D, so I gave you a like, hope it helps. Also I have a question: are there multiple tiers of armors in this game too like in the very first? (T1 being normal armor, T2 power armour and T3 flying power armour)
@@MarvyraRift Cool, thanks for the quick reply. And another question (just to boost the algorithm) the floating brains really insta kill the soldiers or a couple of turns were edited out?
@@gdobrocsi Thanks! I only edited out most of the walking, action parts should all be there. Yes, they literally walk up to a soldier, hit them 2-3 times and they're gone, they turn into a zombie which then turns into another brain. You can see it happen in the video at 4:40
You're brave to even attempt this without sonic canons or blaster bombs, because holy shit can this game get nasty. I'll definetely try "Reavers TFTD made easier mod" to get more fair experience
I know the feeling. This is just beginner difficulty though, but it can still be rough at times. The problem with Sonic Cannons is that they take a lot of time units to use and they're heavy so not all soldiers can use them effectively. They also nerfed alien weapons, they don't have auto-shot like they did in UFO Defense so it's overall more difficult to hit things.
Did they nerf the loot of the alien bases? When I remeber correctly, taking out an alien base brought up to 500-800 aqua plastics and the artifact site brought about 300 to 500 zrbites. So this was a good baite to clean up all enemies instead of only destroying the symonium device and flee....As you need this components to build advanced gear, the money you get for the stuff like ion beam accelerators or magnetic navigation is imo not worth the risk to loose most of your squad... Anyway, i wouldnt dare to go inside a base without at least some thermal launchers and vibroblades (for everyone in the team).
Haven't really checked how much loot you get, but it's quite a lot. Haven't actually tried the Thermal launchers, the launchers that stun? Maybe they are useful, especially for capturing live aliens. Not tried any of the melee either, since they're you know, melee, might be good against Lobsters and Brains, if they get close.
Yeah, this tracks with my experience with this game. You're way better than I ever was, and still getting torn to shreds.
Thanks, yeah in my younger days this game kicked my ass hard, lol. I never knew smoke grenades were so powerful. ^^

Thank you! Yes, it's exactly the same as the first game. 👍

@@MarvyraRift Yikes, that is extremely frightening. Okay I get it this is THE final mission, but still they are bonkers strong :D .
@gdobrocsi Oh no no, this is not the final mission, this is just an Alien Base. But yes, they're strong. ^^

What doing lobsterman to the tank? Try molecular control?
I guess the Lobster was too close to the tank to use the Disruptor Launcher it was holding so it decided to hit my tank in melee instead.
