Good solid information from my experience UK/Brasilian, living the last 20 years in Paraná. Of course Brasil is not for everyone, but many Europeans and North Americams vastly improve their life by moving permanently to Brazil. In relation to the mains electricity voltage it's also worth noting that it is 60hz AC (as in the US), but Europe is 50hz, also re the 127/220v situation, some places, like Foz do Iguaçu are dual voltage, but the physical outlets are the same, and may not be marked differently, so you could plug a 127v fridge etc into 220v!

I also lived abroad for a few years as an expat in China, in a smaller town. The first thing what comes up in my mind. You don't feel lonely in a small village?? I only would consider big cities myself cause there are other expats too
In 2021, Floripa had more homicide than most big cities in SP and even some big cities in the north-east. And, I dont think big cities in the north and northeast are much behind, less developed. My opinion.
Have you got a cost comparison video of everyday purchases. Like food shopping, car fuel, entertainment costs? If you can compare it to SP / RJ or even Europe would help in my decision to move.
Imo it's difficult to compare. You can't compare the quality. Prices changes 2 times a day. On monday supermarket 1 is the cheapest. On Wednesday supermarket 3. Can be 20-30%. Or they tripple the price of some products and hope you don't notice. And drop the price of products that expired the day before... imo Europe is cheaper regarding groceries because you have B-brands. And such sale tactics are forbidden in the EU. Electronics, online shopping, everything international, cars, carparts,... is a disaster. But overall quality of life is higher, the climate, the people, the experience, some services,... when you get used to it, it's fine and you have something positive to experience when you spend some time in the EU.
The rental for a 2 bedroom apt ranges from US$400 to US$800 depending on size, location etc. I live in a small town in the countryside in Rio grande do sul.

How did you initially move to Brazil? Did you get married in Sweden with a Brazilian and then came over to Brazil? Or did you live in Brazil first? And if so, what Visa did you use to stay for longer than 90 days? Thanks for the response 🙏.
I have a question. As a swedish person living in Brazil.. do you ever pay in multiple payments? I know Brazil does this for everything. I don't know how Sweden is. But as an American this is strange to me and I can't relate to how It is cause I've never been able to pay for a shirt for example in multiple payments lol. I feel like if I moved there I'd still pay in 1 payment. What do you do?
Hi, I always in 1 payment when the store offers a discount. Usually the smaller stores offer a 5% discount if you pay in 1 payment with a debit card. The bigger stores do not usually offer a discount so I pay in multiple payments using my credit card.
Brazil is one of the freest countries in the world, you pay however you want, however you want, I only buy in cash and pay in 1 payment, but it depends on your will, it is a personal thing, because only you know your economic situation.

I not too familiar with the health sector in Brazil in terms of employment . I would say that if you were to search for a nursing job in the public health sector you will probably be a bit shocked as it is more simple than Sweden. I would recommend searching for a nursing job in the private hospitals. However salaries will be a lot lower than Sweden in both sectors.
I'm Brazilian, and I can say that anywhere in Brazil you will live well with this amount because converted it is 25 thousand reais, people live well with 5 thousand, imagine with 25, whether in big or small cities. However, in small cities you will live like a king with this amount. You will live very well.
There are restrictions on shipping vehicles into Brazil so it is not easy and if it is possible it is also very expensive as there would be import taxes to pay which are sometimes over 100%
Been there as a tourist but not sure about how it is to live there. Good enough cities, there's some poverty, crime, but very beautiful place. I think life there is similar to Rio de janeiro but cheaper.
As a Brazilian I tell you: bad idea. It's a dangerous place. If somebody kills you, you'll be a number in the statistics. "Russian Tourist Stabbed in Daylight Robbery in Rio 5 hours ago - A Russian tourist was stabbed in downtown Rio de Janeiro during an attempted robbery." In places like Rio, people don't care anymore. They became so used to it that violence is part of their lives. If you love your life think twice.
