ASL = ASsembly Language
They should redo how their servers handle the data, and let them handle zone-clusters instead of entire worlds. Bring 100% of the remaining population into the same world, and let all of the individual servers handle the load.
So many lessons they could take from how wow does their servers, they don't even need to split servers beyond rulesets anymore, they already have multiple instances that spawn if places get to crowded, almost all the live servers could be merged.
@vanman2099 I wish they would. I tried to come back to EQ but it was a ghost town. I ended up making a solo emulated server with bots for group/raid members on my laptop

This is probably the best idea for saving the game but we got all the old people derp so bad. Look the biggest problem is that no one is in the early zone playing someone joins and they have to solo the entire way halfway through they are like fuck this and quit. Happens in every mmo
the future is full AI raid guilds sniping phinny before the bot farmers even have a chance, and bot farmers complaining that AI is stealing their jobs.
And the AI toons engaging in full-scale griefing retaliation and flame wars. 😀

I'd still have my alts, but with a big and level-varied population, I'd be able to rotate which one was my main, as opposed to having just 1 with the others being boxed.
I just said something like this on another one of your vids ,yeah make it so you can run your own group if necessary only use your alts as the AI mercs if you want, but don't get a group xp bonus if you do.
AI that ninja's the loot, and leaves the group. Priceless. Or even better, a DBG AI spy in every group. They truly are watching you... :)

Would be nice as group leader, to be able to switch certain members of your group into a Merc Mode
That way, even if it’s your buddy and he needs to go AFK or maybe your buddy just sucks at the game
In a world of perfect Ai, why would I interact with another human if I didn't have to? If The Sims taught me anything, it's that you only need other Sims for woohoo, because it gets social up faster 😂
haha, now you're talking, they would have to program dumb ai into the game so theres a difference in the player base of ai players

Aprils fools! DBG is having a hard time doing the basics. AI will not be voted on. AI will not be restrained. AI will be your worst griefers, and your best RMT Toons.
That would be pretty soul crushing if we started to rely on AI to form and run groups and raids. Something about that just seems terrible to me.
Until you start having MORE fun with AI than with people and you start to prefer your AI buds in your group. I think its possible 10 years from now. I've had excellent conversations with AI. Better then with most humans.

I played EverQuest when Max level was level 20 who was it? 25? Then it was 50 then it was 55 back in my day. It was I played on the rath sver
It was absolutely jampacked with people as the last expansions came out. Planes of power destroyed the game. Shadows of Laughlan is where it should’ve stopped planes of power and the beast lord class destroyed the game.
I started Everquest in the beta (I think it was labeled as phase three but not positive) & the level limit at that time was 50.
The Rathe server didn't exist until after release.
Could be thinking of the WoW beta. I remember how that phased in some increasing level caps.
The moment you said 'AI', I knew it wouldn't happen. AI is expensive. I don't think most people realize how much money the large tech companies have put into getting AI to the point it's at now (which is pretty crappy, parlor trick level). It's a great pie-in-the-sky idea but reality indicates it's not possible. Darkpaw has to struggle just to develop expansions and anniversary content. They don't have a 200 person team like Blizzard's Baby. Where's the budget going to come from to license (because there's no way they're sinking multiple billions into developing their own) an AI to do this? Again, great idea but so is world peace (and that's a bit more likely to happen).
AI is expensive.... now. But Cunningham's law says that the number of transistors on an integrated circuit will double every two years with minimal rise in cost. Now that has certainly slowed as we get closer and closer to electrons being able to quantum leap across motherboard circuits but what is expensive now WILL get cheaper as money is poured in to research. This idea may be crazy for now, and may ALWAYS be crazy or Everquest, but not crazy for the next big MMO or maybe the one after that.
You know what else was really, really expensive at its inception? Flat screen televisions and monitors. Now I can go down to Walmart and buy a 55" TV for $298, or a used All-In-One PC with dual HDMI 4k 22" monitors for the same price.
Open standards make for easy adoption and portability. It will happen with AI, we're already seeing it. God help us all.
I’m not sure you fully understand how AI works. OpenAI is free and already being used by other MMO private servers. WoW private servers have had ai player bots for years now. It didn’t cost us any money. Just a small group of contributors working on them over the course of a couple years.
This sounds terrible. Defeats the whole purpose of the game and kills the magic/reason we all have good memories and desire to relive our memories.
I always boxed from the get go, usually had 2 or 3 friends with a few boxes and each person got 2 spots in group for whatever characters they wanted in at the time
