    I have tried them all in one combination or another....if you are here because you wanted an advice video....Thomas is shooting you straight.... SK-Shammy. I have not done one in 15+ years, but I watched them again on day one mischief rock on as awesome as they have always been.

    You described the two best duos with :
    Cleric/Ench before GoD expansion.
    SK/Shaman for the entire game, no possible comparaison to this duo. (Monk can NOT tank at some point).
    A very fun and efficient duo could be also :
    Shaman / Necro . root rot or just slow rot. Druid is fine too, just not as good as necro. But you have ports.
    Definitly SH/SK if you want to add any other people and start a group !

    SHM/MAGE is a chill combo.

    I now 5 box a druid, mage, enc, necro, and bard with a healer merc to handle healing. I use isboxer to be able to handle almost everything from one screen (my druid's). The druid pulls... if I have under 3 mobs in a pull, I don't bother with mez... I have macros that will have my mage / enc / necro pets each attack different mobs. The healer merc has no trouble keeping all three alive, though I sometimes throw a group heal with my druid if fighting a named mob. The bard just plays songs to enhance the group (no melee). I also have a macro that will have all the pets attack one mob (for single target pulls), have the enc tash/slow, the mage malo / nuke a couple times, as well as have my druid/enc/necro dot the mob. I usually don't even use autofollow to move around... I will move my mage and COH the group to where they need to be (autofollow can cause a lot of mayhem)
    The mobs rarely last more than 15 -20 seconds with all those dots/nukes on it. After that first macro is done, I can have the mage chain nuke. Only the druid's mana seems to go down with all the buffs and bard songs going on.
    Now... if I was doing a 2 man group without mercs I highly recommend a druid / enc combo. You can do the charm tank thing as Thomas brought up... or, once you have the AA's to control the enc pet properly, the enc pet can handle the tanking.
    I also used to tri-box a druid / enc / mage with the mage pet tanking.
    With isboxer though... I have zero problems with a 5 box group.
    Druids have decent heals, punishing DOTs, plus the capabilities to buff, teleport and rez. They are my favorite class in the game.

    On a new TLP, cleric/ench is awesome. This is my go-to 2 box as soon as a new TLP comes out. Good until around GoD, then you really need a tank in your box group. Can’t go wrong with cleric/anything starting out, but I find having a charm class is the most potent in the first few expansions when gear is scarce.
    Next TLP I’m going to try ench/Druid to see if works out the same. Hate wasting time on a Druid since they kinda suck after PoP, but they are hella nice for power leveling.
    SK/shm kinda suck until AAs come out. Slow kills, no CC, and sham always out of mana. After PoP, this is a great box. I’m a lazy (and not so great) boxer, so shammies are rare in my box groups as they command a lot of attention. I find it hard, and not fun, trying to focus on more than one toon beyond what macros can do.

    What would you suggest for best duo, for beginner boxers? Not the best player, I did get a druid to 47 at one point but have a new laptop and want to try boxing, and eventually want to farm items to make krono. I have a lvl 12 druid on teek. Keep druid and make another class and catch up? Or fresh 2 toons to lvl at same time?
    Great video btw, I do like the ideal of sham/sk but miss my ports hahah

    • @vanman2099
      @vanman2099  3 месяца назад +1

      If you keep druid probably add a mage, I don't think it's worth setting up a tank healer right now with druid unless you are going to twink the tank / melee class. A more difficult combo would be druid enchanter you can always charm with enchanter and even charm animals with druid if you're up to it, but when your charmed mob breaks you might be in trouble.

    When I play, I sit for about 5 mins trying to decide on which of my 2-box's to play. I have an SK/Sham, Mage/Brd and Bst/Brd. I want to try some more out, but these are my favorites so far. Sk/Sham for hard stuff, but it gets a little boring. Bst/Brd is my favorite with the Mag/Brd in between. I also play on Live for now. I haven't been brave enough to try anything above two at a time. I only started boxing at the end of summer.

      I love boxing a bard, but not as a duo. Bard is part of nearly all my 3-box groups.
      I did try a bard in the tank role once (Druid as the second box) and it was fun until mid 30’s. Lack of any snap taunt ability made fights too erratic as a conventional duo. Was way more efficient letting the Druid charm or quad while the bard was a passive buff bot.

    Thinking of a duo box to work towards in Oakwynd once we're allowed to 2 box on one computer. I really want to make a Dark Elf Cleric, but I also want to make a Half Elf Ranger. They would be an ok 2 box, but definitely not the best out there. That's not what I'm really looking for though. I just want to play something I enjoy. I almost feel like giving up the Dark Elf Cleric and do a Barbarian Shaman with the Half Elf Ranger. I think that would be a fun duo. If I do stick with a Dark Elf Cleric, what do you think would be a good match up? Probably the Enchanter?

    • @vanman2099
      @vanman2099  Год назад +1

      Enchanter/Cleric is it's own beast because you can't do anything until the Enchanter can charm and you can't do anything unless you Charm (besides join groups). I feel like a shaman/ranger has more potential than a cleric ranger as shamans slow/debuffs/pet/dots will have you taking less damage and bringing a little DPS. I also don't think a ranger/enchanter would be too bad, you'd get haste/slow/mana regen with the ability to mezz/cc things or use the enchanter to charm, it might be kind of slow healing yourself up on the ranger but the cc and slows may keep you from taking a ton of damage. No matter what you do, make sure one of the two classes you play you really enjoy instead of worrying about what the "right" two to play are. Enchanter falls off after Planes/Gates so there's a lot of diff considerations for you to ponder.

      @@vanman2099 I'm pretty awful at most classes. But rangers can do just about everything decent and only get better with gear. Ranger damage was mid to top when I played back then... I stopped the xpack after the dragon one I think. When I came back in 2019 our utilities just jumped. Everything got super easy with aoe roots, knockbacks, the ability to tank for 2 mins without getting hit once, and our heals wernt worthless... kind of. Our damage is crazy good now I always end up top 3 if you don't count necros. But back then PoP to Gates, we were a power house. Use a few dots and shot your bow, we could solo easily even facetank with little effort with earth caller slow. They just put out good damage without having to keep track of dot timers and keep up with mana. In my case I could do enough damage that my necor didn't have to refresh any dots saving mana to keep pushing... if you pull too many 15min snare is nice as well. Can kite for as long as you want while still throwing arrows at the main target.

      @@vanman2099 once you reach the point of ferocious kicks and the synergy aa off jolting kicks on fights you can get them close enough to kick you will see a huge jump in damage. Most I've box is 3 12 seems like alot... I don't know how them programs work. But if you can use jolting kicks with a slight delay between each the damage increase is prettynoticeable. And if it's big enough ya get the sweet spot for normal kicks as well can really get extra damage rolling. But auto kick doesn't work that way unfortunately.
