Dead hedges are so genius! We want to create one on the farm here as soon as the snow melts. It will be serving so many fonctions, wildlife, privacy, recycling! Thank you for sharing :)
Enjoy a look around, your poly tunnel is a picture of health, I think the dead hedge is brilliant in all aspects, given me some nice ideas, and so much better than burning, many thanks for sharing, enjoy your weekend, kind regards alan…………….. THE DAWN CHORUS PLOT 🌿
What a great video. I love the dead hedge - which will soon be full of life I'll bet. And what a gift of woodchip! At least we got some sunshine today too. All the best.
The dead hedge is such a good idea 💡 it will make a good dog 🐕 👍 boundary for the bottom of my garden, use up lots of spare pruned branches and rot down and feed the hedgerow plants I have planted but will not be mature enough for a boundary for a couple of years yet. Thank you
Hello, This is a fantastic idea to find uses for the natural recourses already there on the farm. I would imagine if you were to plant berries or hedge type plants underneath they would grow up through and eventually when the branches all decompose there would be a row of perennial berries, hedges and bushes in its place. Brilliant idea. take care bye for now
What a fabulous hedge! I’ve been thinking of creating something like this with the school gardening club around a bed of bulbs. Each child plants one when they start at the school. It may save the bulbs from footballs and little feet!
Cheers Saronne. That is really interesting. Looks like a good idea for bank maintenance. Rabbits have had a field day - or several for a few years and it needs a lot of tlc.
I love you channel i try to understand a little because my english is not good i from spain and the traductor do not work well. By the same, i learnd a lot. Thanks you!!!
Is there a problem with having sides on the beds? I do not know much about Charles Dowding so my question is does he have different approaches for different climate regions or is it one size fits all?
@@UrbanWhiteBuffaloFarm Thanks for asking. There’s no problem with sides on a raised bed in my garden. The sides hold the soil in. Admittedly, the sides can harbor slugs, but we have ducks that gobble them up. One size does not fit all when it comes to this method. 😊
I grew up in America, so that word is familiar to me - and to many others. It also flows off the tongue more easily than ‘Smallholding’ which is a word I use interchangeably if you watch my other videos. As for the English language in general, it evolves over time and I think you’ll find that British English has borrowed from many different cultures. Glad you liked the content of my video, and thank you for watching 😉
I lover the dead hedge Saronne. I'm very tempted to add one to our boundary. 😃
Go for it, Liz! It’s such a great way of utilizing branches 😀

You’re so welcome. We’re finding it such a good chicken and duck barrier, too.
That dead hedge is very nice. And a good reuse of materials here in my arid climate. I may have to give it a try!

What a fab idea! The great thing about dead hedges is that you can adapt them to the size of your area.

Beautiful work. Well done 🤗

Amazing job 👍❤
Thank you so much
!! STELLA !! :)
Woof! 🐶 ❤️
Why do you still use beds, lots of no dig gardeners including Charles Dowding don’t use “sides”on there beds anymore ?
As I explain in my video, we get a lot of rain here and having ‘raised’ beds ( with edges) helps to prevent erosion. Thanks for watching 😉

@@sowgrowandcook That is so right! The rain we get would wash it all away in an instant. 4 seasons in one day as per usual :D

@@Pixieworksstudio Lol! So true! 😆
Why do people from the UK and Australia use the term ‘Homestead’. We are not Yanks! Other than that. Great work
