Oh boy, Pa Mac is on! Love the gabion fence posts. As a young lass, I lived in Eastern Washington, home to tons of volcanic rock. It was a well known fact to our friends that my mother's six children were her personal "chain gang" of rock pickers so she could build her garden planters. Hated it back then, but now? What I wouldn't give for that free natural resource!😏😉 So amazing how time changes your perspective. Thanks Pa Mac, I'm starting my day with a smile.😊💕
You have no idea how happy i am to see another video from you i havent even watched it yet and i know videos are alot of work but thank you thank you thank you for making your videos!!!!!
Ive never seen anyone like you pa mac. One of a kind no matter how many times I watch them l get big laughs And learn something new. Your quite a fellar funnier than 3 stooges. Thanks for the very professional an informative videos. With a good slap of humor. Alabama loves FHC SHOW.
Those are all very kind words...but the nicest compliment I've gotten all week is "funnier than 3 stooges". That's an honor I'm not sure I deserve. Thank you Bobby (and my Alabama viewers)
@@farmhandscompanion Pa Mac l was hooked with the first one l saw cutting lumber. I go back an laugh at them when l can. Its obvious a great deal of effort was put into these videos. Thank you Pa Mac.
I'm subscribed to 281 youtube channels but the only channel that I get giddy about a new episode coming out is FHC. Thank you for that PaMac, you made my month.
Just bought your pole barn book. Retirement is about 10 years away, purchasing undeveloped land a little sooner. I look forward to employing some of your time tested techniques!
Glad to see you back! Missed these videos. You do a great job. These videos show how to do what you need with modern stuff so that the children today can learn.
This was a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing! What a lovely farm you have. I absolutely LOVE your idea of rock fence posts! I have never seen that before. Since we also have a field with our main crop being rocks of assorted sizes, I am going to show this video to my husband so we can build the same. Thank you!
Those stone pillars are just a brilliant idea, the perfect solution for a 90 ft fence I have to run across a farmyard where bare rock is on the surface or only inches below it. Wouldn't have thought of that one by meself, so big thanks.
I'm building my Smokey Mountain Homestead and drawing a lot of inspiration from you channel. The stone columns for the fence will soon be in place here, Brilliant!!
What a treat to get a new video from Farm Hands Companion! This is the best heritage and building show on RUclips. I used the pole barn design to much success. I will be doing it again this summer. I love the fences. Do you happen to know if there is a way to make mortise and tenon fences by hand? I can pull it off with a chainsaw, but not by hand. What do you think?
I've seen people make em with the large "framed" brace and bit setups that're normally used with timber frame construction. You could use that contraption, or a large diameter (at least 2 inch) auger coupled with a hatchet to chop out the "in betweens" from two holes.
I never knew there was any other way to get a fence until I was older. Here in the mountains you use what you got. Hello from the Kentucky mountains USA.
We've been working on a garden fence as well, and I've been trying to figure out the best way to build the gate come spring... I might have to borrow your "self-closing" apparatus idea. It's simple, it's effective, and it adds character - I love it! Thanks for another great video!
Not enough beautiful adjectives to describe. Love, love the fence of the period it speaks. Thanks for sharing in time, effort in both project and putting out the video.
Well well alabama loves fhc show. Thought l was gonna wear all the others out. Im laid up an not suppose to be out. But with fhc now lm better than ok. Thanks friend been missing ya.
@@farmhandscompanion thank you appreciate it. As long as l gotta new fhc show ill be ok. Making boards all day long with my chainsaw. At least in my mind.
Woke up this morning to this! Made my day! I and my childrdn love your videos, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of yesteryear. Blessings to you!
Bravo,I say bravo. I loved your video. Loved the humor and your construction skills. Especially the self closing gate. Im on that one. Loved the music. Good job
Came in to grab a bite of dinner and saw a PaMac video was up. So, dinner and everything else had to wait! As always you are the man! Very neat to see things in this video that I remember from some of the others. The shingles, the barn.....Neat stuff! Already looking forward to the next one. Take care buddy!
Loved this!! I just found your channel looking up diy rustic fences, and had to subscribe. No access to natural rocks here, on the Louisiana Gulf coast, but plenty of oak and pecan. Now I just have to figure out if they can be split like this or if I’ll be sawing from now into eternity 🤣 I’m making a fence so that my chickens stay in the backyard with me while I’m out there with them. A couple of them like to go “exploring”, which stresses me out because I love them and everything else wants to eat them lol.
Duplex nails are easy to pull and can be driven home, so they hold stronger. They are used in concrete forms, so they can be disassembled, but probably cost more though. I need a rat proof fence.
Oh, how wonderful I enjoyed every second of this video I am a newbie and so happy I was lead to your channel this video was entertaining informative and just all-around cool to watch.
Neat video! I like your techniques and I’ve never seen the rock posts like you did! Cool! Suggestion for future main posts - if you burn the part going in the ground it delays/prevents rot! You can find lots of RUclips vids explaining the science but it’s an ancient technique and a natural method. Hope it helps ya out down the road 😊
Also some swear by ut and some consider it bad but an old timey way of preserving natural wood (once wood is dried out) is to use a 50/50 mix of used engine oil and diesel fuel and paint brush it on. Just thought I’d mention. I love the look of your fence especially with the squash or whatever growing up it.
Im watching this as Im stripping bark from rods of willow to make my garden trellis for the year. Maybe Ill have enough left to make a ring to hold my peonies up straight.....
Was searching for garden fencing ideas, & this popped up, glad I watched it, love the ideas & the way you use what is available, just brilliant. My question is how did you get those wood slabs to fit into the gabions (wire filled with rocks) & how did you secure the wire so it doesn't fall apart spilling those rocks?, Just a very smart & neat way to use those rocks. Thx for great ideas, just subbed, best wishes from Australia
There's large pvc pipe embedded in the rock posts that hold the rails. the loose wires at the end of each row of wire are just twisted back on one another. Amazing, but plenty secure that it would never come apart. Thanks for watchin', Valerie!
