Love this series. Once you hear Bob Bailey though, its nearly impossible to imagine anyone else playing the Johnny Dollar character. His staccato delivery is unmistakable, he's a great actor. We know the old CBS executives had their head up their rear about radio once television exploded on the scene, but Bailey was a star and I don't blame him for eschewing a move to NY, when LA was where it was at. Love the fireplace and effects. Some of the writing is a little wobbly at times, but this is one of the best radio dramas, I've heard.
I love old time radio. I really enjoy hearing Howard McNear, who also played Floyd the barber on the Andy Griffith Show. He was a real treasure on Johnny Dollar.
Listening to these helps quiet and calm my mind and thoughts during the hardest time of my life. Thank you so much for taking the time to put these together
@@valeriejohnson5283 Well with a channel name like Hearth and Home we can't very well have a hearth and no fireplace, can we?🙂 I try to make at least one video in a compilation of a fireplace.😀 (sci-fi compilations are an exception!)
@@HearthandHomeEntertainment , Thank you! I'm so glad your channel was recommended! I like all the scenes that you use for backgrounds and I look forward to what you use in the future.😍🥀🥀
It's funny, but in the show his insurance company has its home office in Hartford, CT. Hartford, is in reality, at it happens, the host many home offices of insurance companies.
I guess it would be handy to live in the same town most of the insurance companies are based in! Most shows had the main character in a big town like New York or San Francisco. This show took Dollar all over the world!
Thanks !
Thank you 😊
Love Johnny Dollar no matter who's playing him. The sound quality is challenging on some of these old recordings.

Thanks for posting all your Johnny Dollars - listen every evening.
Thank you guys for making these videos I love them.
Love the video as well! Don't replace with a fireplace.
Thanks for the feedback. I like to mix them up, stay tuned for new ones all the time!
I like the fireplace at night while I fall asleep.😴
@@valeriejohnson5283 Yeah, get it, but I like the street scenes of the late 1930s and early 1940s. The fireplace seems a little boring. No big deal.

@@HearthandHomeEntertainment Yeah, I just always thought it was a cool detail that they located him in Hartford.
@@dr.barrycohn5461 👍 Great show all around!
I don't think it was a coincidence he lived in Hartford
Wasn't a coincidence
This Johnny Dollar never shuts up and listens. He basically never shuts his mouth!
