I 1000% agree with this. In Toronto a Gujrati girl who lives in my pg was promoted as a manager in a restaurant. Around 7 people were employed by the burrito restaurant. She asked the owner an irani rich guy with 30 restaurants in Toronto to shift all $15 /hr employees to $12 cash employees. He did that every student left the job. Now all new ones are working at $12. Training is paid after 3 months, thanks to her.

For the first time I am seeing someone speaking the truth so boldly...
My mother says that "the one who speaks the truth will become an enemy to the whole world"
(( Yadhaartha vaadhi loka virodhi ))
I faced a lot of problems in India for being honest and speaking truth.

Yeah i worked for a baskin robbins in brampton owned by a gujrati family. They only hired people for 3-4 shifts 5-6 days per week. They paid fine and even offered free ice cream to take home. But in the evening shift, they would always put away the ice cream early so its awkward to ask to pack my free ice cream. Also they kept trying to make me sweep and mop every 10-15min lol. I had to leave after 2 months.

I've worked for Indian managements in India and the middle east and unfortunately, most of what you claim is true.
During an interview for a premium Arab establishment, the Interviewer quipped politely that he does not want an "indian quick-fix work and work culture" in his workplace. Despite the offense I took, the man minced no words in making his point and he was right.
I'm disappointed to know that our approach to business and enterprise is the same even in first world countries. Will be mindful of all that you've said as I explore North America - thank you!

Absolutely true everyone is advised to keep reasonable evidence like photos and videos of unpaid work. Once you get PR find a lawyer and file a case. Take all money with interest and lawyer fees. The system will not improve if no one is coming forward. Unfortunately, our community loves cash jobs, and illegal immigration in the US, and Canada but treats other communities' immigrants in India as desh drohi.

Thank you for talking about this topic in Canada. There is a lot of exploitation of Indians by Indians themselves here. I worked for a fast food restaurant here in February and the owner of the restaurant was Indian. Before starting he had told me that I would be working on minimum wage. Then 2 weeks after my joining he suddenly said that I will only be getting 50% of my pay since I'm on training and he hadn't told me about this during the interview. This is not all. The owner's restaurant does good business and since its a restaurant, it gets a lot of tips. roughly about $1000/day but he doesn't distribute the tips among the workers, instead himself pockets it. Why he pockets the tips? Because all his workers are on LMIA and are working on cash. I was the only one on a student visa. This goes on to show that he hires LMIA workers and exploits them to the max. I left the place after working another 2weeks.

Hats off to you courage to speak up so honestly.
Every point you said is completely true. I was in Australia for 3 years and then I moved to Canada. Even in Australia these people are the worst as an employer and moreover as a human being.
I would suggest everyone watching to avoid getting employed with an Indian employer and please don't criticize Mr.Patel if you have a different opinion. He just spoke out what's true, if you can't digest it that means it's time you actually behave like a Canadian when you are here.
Because of the impressions set by few Indians, Indians from all other states are undermined by the Canadians.

Hello Jay ! Good topic to discuss. But the facts is it's all about the upbringing and mentality of owners or managers. The same trends follow in India also. Many companies, corporates are treating their employees in such way only. Coz they don't value human.

    Totally agree 100%
I used to work for an Indian restaurant… used to get paid 10$ whereas min wage was 14.5$
They will make you work like anything apart from your actual job. Then the pay timing also, they will pay the chef on time but will delay your payment for a week. Moreover, tip is actually suppose to be distributed to those working. But owner will keep that tip to themselves and never give to staffs.
Overall, all your points are valid!
