    Nice review man! My buddy Esteban has the Smokies and I have the Rogues. I’ve tried them both, but I’ve spent much more time on my Rogues. It’s nice to hear and opinion from someone who put them both through their paces. Well done.

    As far as I heard, there soon will be spherical bearing for slalom rogues. I guess they might give the same feeling as UHMWPE inserts in smokies.

      @@downhill254skate Good sound reasoning on the reactivity and resistance differences between the different insert materials. Makes sense. Just an FYI - I regularly drop a spherical into my chopped cRogues' front hanger (Same COM6-T bearing as Dont Trips use), so anyway, assuming the insert-socket geometry remains consistent between the cRogues and the 2020slalms you can do it to your current loverly gold set (just remember to mod the bushing faces to clear spheric centre ball). There's nothing wrong with a comfortable mAlL-gRiP

    @2:00 - I feel like you could probably make the Rouges turn heaps easier/better with a higher front angle (55* range) which would also help the wheelbite issue.
    Also interesting below you posted were running 93A inserts. I got mine (finally haha) the other day and was gonna start with pink inserts up front to try and increase the responsiveness (my theory is the harder the insert the quicker the bushings will engage when you lean).

    • @downhill254skate
      @downhill254skate  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, i did hear the sweet spot for Rogues was 52.5-55. On the Orbiter I have them at 53*. The Orbiter has 3* of wedging in the flush mounting. It's quicker turning, but the issue persists.
      I'll give the 97a insert upfront a try. But i found that with a 95a, the resistance to turn was way too much. Let me know what you try

    • @Dr_Footbrake
      @Dr_Footbrake 3 года назад

      @@downhill254skate Yeah I'm sure there is some combination that gets the most out of the front trucks. Gonna be hard to directly compare though cos of diff rider weights, wheelbases etc but I'll let you know what I find. I can probably make my own UHMW insert as well so might try that if I can't find a good urethane combo, otherwise iirc they'll fit sphericals as well

    • @Dr_Footbrake
      @Dr_Footbrake 3 года назад

      @@downhill254skate update: all the Melbourne guys are running 73/73 up front and 97/95 in the back with white inserts all round. A bit like you I found the inserts to have too much resistance so I have settled on 78/78 up front with a spherical insert and 97/97 down back with a green insert. I've got a 1/8" soft riser and a 3* wedge b/w the spherical and the board so hasn't been too bad so far as far as vibrations etc go. Still wouldn't mind making a plastic insert to try though.

    • @downhill254skate
      @downhill254skate  3 года назад

      Yeah, because of the insert, I felt better supported in the slides and couldn't really push into my deck cause of how the trucks pushed back at me.
      I run 74/78 95/97a bushings and then a variety of inserts. When running the rogues on the Small blind I liked 93a inserts all around.
      When running them on the Orbiter I used 93a front and 95a in the back.
      On the Small Blind I mainly used the 106mm width. On the Orbiter, 106/116 in the back felt best.
