He quoted Mal'Ganis, 'claim your destiny' quoted Gul'dan, the whole i will it at 12:13 is kinda quoting Kairoz, the other day i said leave only ash, so he quoted me aswell
The Ashbringer has always been my fave weapon lore. I even got it to trigger the old Scarlet Monastery event all those years ago. I'm stuck however at the moment I love all the 3 Paladin Artifact Weapons and can't make up my mind on what I'm going to be my main
sadly no. Also there are no special events for ashbringer anywhere..kinda lame. Went to SM,nothing. Went to icc, naxx, strat, freaking everywhere and found nothing
if you are a druid in Darkheart Thicket, the first boss comments on the specific Druid Artifact you are wielding and how the painful the powerful weapon is, when you're fighting him
I wonder likewise about the Claws of Ursoc. As far as ive gathered, Ursoc was also a wild god who fell in the war of the ancients. His brother Ursol guarded the claws in a glade in val'shara for the longest time, awaiting a druid who could contain Ursocs bloodthirst and frenzy. But thats all i got so far.
TheLostCodex has been making some short and sweet videos about the various artifact weapons, the claws specifically are in the artifact weapons of the wild gods video
why everyone wants vids about stuff with no lore at all? nobbel already said that ashamane was created fresh for legion there is no lore behind her except she was a demi god that fought during the war of the ancients and died
Ashamane was another one of the Wild Gods who fell during the War of the Ancients. If you read the War of the Ancients book, you see a part where Malorne and Cenarius summon all the other Wild Gods (called demigods in that book) to help. There are quite a lot of them that aren't named, only vaguely described. While Ashamane isn't named there, when the different ones are being listed there was a mention of one of them looking like a panther. So yes, Ashamane was created for Legion. But there was already precedent for there being a panther Wild God.
So I ran Sunwell for the heck of it, and after the last fight when Velen comes in, they purify the heart of the Mu'ru or whatever... That dark heart crystal thing he purifies looks exactly like the crystal here. I thing Ashbringer is made from a Naaru heart.
There has been speculation that it is a Naaru or a fragment of the ata'mal crystal. Seeing as the crystal went from dark to light to dark back to light just like a naaru can do in its life span go from being a form of light to dark and back to light etc.
I'm pretty sure what Lord Maxwell Tyrosus says when you land on the Broken Isles or somewhere near the Broken Isle to save Tirion and get back the Ashbringer is almost identical to what Tirion Fording himself says when you first enter into ICC as well as what Jailer Zerus and Tirion Fording Says when you go ahead and Balnazzar even farther...Hopefully this isn't Blizzard being lazy but instead a tribute to ICC.
Yep, most of the Broken Shore stuff (even the scenario we got in WoD) is a tribute to ICC/the stuff around it. For example Tirion being entombed in (Fel) ice and freeing himself with a final blessing, the ending really hinted at becoming the LK/Ashbringer... There are just so many different connections and it sort of is cool to play through it, but at the same time it's also a bit lazy from Blizzard and cheesy in that matter. xD
So Balnazaar gets killed in Scarlet Monastery (level 30-ish dungeon), then is tasked with protecting a weapon found by level 100 characters. This is why the Legion loses every time.
YES!! A MILLION TIMES YES!!!. i always wanted to be a part of the argent crusade, and know we will be able to lead it? this is like a wish come true for me!
Dreadlord Balnazzar: You are here because i will it. You live because i will it. and you will serve because i will it! kairozdormu: You're free because i will it. You live because i will it. and you will join your father and rally the old orc clans because i will it!
12:25 Thats almost the same thing the Bronze Dragon that helped Garrosh and Wrathion has said!He was corrupted maybe? And perhaps thats why Wrathion couldnt foresaw Dragons actions.
Your journey has just become paladin. You will watch your class become the new deathknight only to meet your justice in the hand of OP pandas because fuck Karma bullshit op ability...
Broken shores is a massive plot hole. Why on Earth would the Argent Crusade charge alone? Why would Azeroth's Guardians ( Dragons, Demigods, Celestials) were absent? Were was the big guns ( Malfurion, Tyrande, Velen, Khadgar)??? NOTHING MAKES SENSE....
The gods/celestials- being corrupted or fighting off the legion at thier home. Other leaders- commanding defenses , building up troops and resources. The argent probably charged with the first wave of alliance and horde troops but we're overwhelmed , but u like horde and alliance had no reinforcements till we arrived.
+Joe Brown After 2 Legion invasions I doubt the NE would let the rest do such a rouckie mistake. I mean seriously check Malfurion's and Tyrande's reaction in Warcraft 3 they lost no time and called at once every they had (even Illidan) to combat the Legion they didn't blindly charged to ply the heroes. The corruption part still is no excuse for the Dragon's absent. Neither would Khadgar let them go against the Legion without him being there, apart from not having the immence powers he has filled everything else from the Guardian's role.
+Grumpy # first, tyrande and malfuiron again, did what they did in Warcraft three was more defensive, they never actually went on the offensive. And again, they gave forces to half of the faction leaders of the alliance. Plus the alliance also did scouting and that was sabotaged to give false information about how big of a attack was going on. As for the dragons, khadgar isn't this super all knowing deity, he only knows about kalecgos, that's it he doesn't have a beacon to summon them like some weapon, plus the dragons have their own shit going on with the fact each one of their lives lost is a closer step to extinction since they no longer reproduce. Idk about you, but I'd be hesitant and let these two large armies fight first before going in. Also look what happened to ysera, wtf do you think would've changed ?
The argent crusade didnt charge alone though.Lore wise, they were a part of the first wave. The very same wave that Voljin,Sylvanas,Varian,Thrall,Mechatorque and Baine was a part off. where was the elves during this? prepping up their warriors for another wave.Presuambly the third wave (the second being the players).
Have watched "The Ashbringer Machinima" few times, feels like I know everything about the Ashbringer, his wielders and it's story but I will just watch your video because I fucking like you so much.
Now player, you shall wield the Ashbringer, the unique and only true weapon of the light! When you go to the Order Hall: *Everyone using the Ashbringer*
I think this was on Twitter, but someone at Blizzard confirmed that the Ashbringer cyrstal is a Naaru core. We suspected this for awhile, but it's now been confirmed. I think it was the core of the MU version of K'ara (seen in SMV in AU Draenor).
You know, when I heard that Draenor had a timetravel story worse than the bloody caverns of time it made my head hurt. Now realising that they changed the timeline without saving Uther, one of my favourite characters in Warcraft... my head stopped hurting and there's only resignation.
I'd love to see a quick video on the history of each Artifact Weapon. Some are recognizable like Ashbringer or the Doomhammer but I doubt a lot of people know where Titanstrike came from
They've extended the quest since alpha. That's good. Makes it more interesting. I'll play my paladin as soon as I'm done with my boosted mage and demon hunter.
NOBBLE! can you please make a video about the Lore of Doomhammer or Apocalypse but please do doomhamemr xD since it already got lots and lots of lore and it would be awesome! have a awesome week!
Allies in the Twisting Nether? What? There is a faction opposing the Legion's work inside the Legion? Oh, great Loremaster Nobbel, please, tell me more!!

Dear Nobbel, I was wondering if you have a lore video on Nathanos Blightcaller. I can't seem to find much about him on youtube and so I was wondering if I just overlooked it or if there just isn't any. Thank you again for making your video's about the lore of warcraft, since it's really helping me a lot and I even got my girlfriend hooked on the lore thanks to your video's! I wish you well!
Could you do a lore video on the original Ashbringer hunt? How a player found an item that led him to many different in game clues, leading him and many others to the belief that Ashbringer could be fished up. For those who arent aware, the original enemies/items from that story have been re added to the game and brought to level 110 leading people on a massive hunt to find out how to get the Corrupted Ashbringer skin.
The dialogue was definitely inspired by ICC, "regardless of outcome, they will know that we fought with honor." "The breaking of this one has been taxing." "Never! I will never serve you!" "So, the lights vaunted justice has finally arrived..." Etc...
demon 1:"hey you know that paladin that helped kill archimonde on Draenor? let's give him/her one of the most powerful weapons the light has and then try to attack him/her" demon 2: that is... genius!!!
Hi Nobble great video as always. What do you think about the death knight artifact quests? From what I've seen (Apocalypse) It seems like the Ebon blade have teamed up with the Litch King again! what do you think about all the death knight going back under the voice of litch king again?
Holy shit thats why the light didn't protect Tirion. He asked it for one final blessing, he asked for all of its might and it answered. But it could not perform the same miracle again.
I wonder if it is a good idea to do all of the Artifact Lore videos this early. With the new "Artifact Research" system at your Class Order Hall, there is a good chance that some of the backstory (especially for the new Artifacts to Azeroth) can be somewhat retconned. It wouldn't be the first time Blizzard has retconned material. I suppose you could always do an addendum video to work in any plot changes uncovered from the Research.
the new dreadlord models are cool and all, but i kinda wish they at least kept the old ones for just Balnazzar or something. So dope with the facial hair and so on
Also, are you going to make videos about the characters from the class hall as well? In that case I'd like to know more about High Inquisitor Whitemane, Thoras Trollbane and Nazgrim. Also, why did the Lich King want us Death Knights to ressurect Tirion Fordring, as the 4th horseman?
10:50 has anyone ever noticed that the ashbringer shifts colors? when the blade is stuck in the floor the handle is red but when you pick it up i appears yellow while you see ''the ashbringer'' and after that scene its red again o.o first time i ever noticed ^^
You could've used some footage from Tales of the Past 3, Nobbel! Missed opportunity right there! To everyone else, that's some old school machinima you NEED to have seen. Like, seriously. May not be all that accurate in terms of lore, but it's pretty frikkin' epic. You ALSO did not mention the fact that the whole dialogue during the Ashbringer questline seems like an homage to previous events, namely the Culling of Stratholme, ICC and even the dialogue between Kairoz and Garrosh. Okay, fine. You added a small clip after the fight against Balnazzar, but still! Yet another thing you did not mention related to the Ashbringer (and we're entering SPOILER territory here, be warned) is Nat's Guide to Extreme Anglin'. I will say no more, but you might know what I'm talking about. The retroactivity on the Ashbringer speculations is MASSIVE.
Nobbel are you on your regular video uploading schedule? Just seems like there aren't many uploads by you lately, either that or im just really wanting more Legion lore/videos from you.. most likely the second one.
Tirion died because he was still using Wrath of the Lich King armor.
hahaha
no upgrade after that
how do you know it was not a transmog?
Also he tried to solo @level content with a paladin... Everyone knows you're supposed to roll a DK for that.
Clearly, it's just transmog
I never realised that Balnazzar quoted Mal'Ganis. That's so spooky.
And his Lieutenant quoted, or maybe fulfilled the vision we had in Ulduar. "The breaking of this one has been taxing."
There's a ton of callbacks in the dialogues of this questline. Tyrosus paraphrases Tirion from ICC at 8:17. Zerus paraphrases Arthas from ICC at 9:03.
Honestly, symbolism is great in stories, but not when it distracts from everything that's happening. Legion has narrowly avoided that line.
He quoted Mal'Ganis, 'claim your destiny' quoted Gul'dan, the whole i will it at 12:13 is kinda quoting Kairoz, the other day i said leave only ash, so he quoted me aswell
"narrowly avoided that line"? Do you think Legion has been too heavy-handed with its references?
Imagine a Fury Warrior with Frostmourne in one hand and Ashbringer in the other.
Now that would have been op asf
Perfectly neutral
Perfectly balanced as all things should be
Titans grip ruined fury.
@@jacobkeller7172 how so
8:49 Is Maxwell looking into the spyglass with his patched eye? Really?
It would be great to see this becoming a series for all of the artifact weapons. Cool video!
Patrick, that's the ashbringer
The Ashbringer has always been my fave weapon lore. I even got it to trigger the old Scarlet Monastery event all those years ago. I'm stuck however at the moment I love all the 3 Paladin Artifact Weapons and can't make up my mind on what I'm going to be my main
Last time I was this early Thrall was still relevant to the story and the Horde.
Soggy Biscuit Soooo.... never. xD
Question: If I go back to ICC and fight Arthas with my Twin Blades of the Fallen Prince, will I break the universe?
Yneso
Doubtful. VERY doubtful.
sadly no. Also there are no special events for ashbringer anywhere..kinda lame. Went to SM,nothing. Went to icc, naxx, strat, freaking everywhere and found nothing
+Barokai Rein when I went to orgrimmar with doomhammer a bunch of guards congratulated me but I'm not sure if that's for all artifact weapons
if you are a druid in Darkheart Thicket, the first boss comments on the specific Druid Artifact you are wielding and how the painful the powerful weapon is, when you're fighting him
This video just popped up out of nowhere. Thanks for making my day Nobbel :)
"Deathrattle: Equip a 5/3 Ashbringer." It was foretold
I love my ashbringer. Thanks for this video. Great as always Nobbel!
Can you do Fangs of Ashmane next? I'm so curious where they came from and who ashmane is
They were the fangs of ashamane made into daggers and she was one of the wild gods that fell in the war of the ancients

OMG REALLY!?!?!
Jk most people have known that for months...it's the heart from the Naaru we purified in Draenor, only on our Draenor the Naaru died.
Daniel Clarke Was that ever confirmed or just speculation?
I'm not sure if it was confirmed but it's obvious it was true and doesn't really require confirmation. Much like how you worked it out is obvious.
Which Naaru are you referring to? And you mean in WOD? Or Burning Crusade? It's been awhile since BC and I didnt get very far into WOD.

12:11 anyone notice how balnazzar is also quoting kairoz when he took garrosh to draenor? exact same lines from short story/legendary ring questline
So Balnazaar gets killed in Scarlet Monastery (level 30-ish dungeon), then is tasked with protecting a weapon found by level 100 characters.
This is why the Legion loses every time.
Balnazzar was killed in Stratholme

Yes! Really looking forward to more of these im really excited :D
So good, this weapon is why I made a paladin, so glad I did as well.
ret paladins are boring as hell. try a DK
The CashBringer
I love that Darion tossing the Ashbring to Tirion is accompanied by a little blood splatter.
I noticed how close Tirion being tortured sounded very much like when arthas was torturing bolivar
"You are here because I will it you live because I will it and you will serve because I will it"
10/10 originality blizzard.
?
It's intentional, a figure of speech to hone the message in.
Great vid.. super glad I finished that part of my Pally Legion quest line before watching though :-P

Balnazzar, such a dapper voice for such a villain
Every time i hear argent crusade i get the feels man
YES YOU'RE DOING THE ARTIFACT QUESTS THANK YOU I LOVE YOU NOBBEL
So much Ret Paladins since Legion, that's really crazy. The hype around this weapon is real.
"You live, because I will it" - Kairozdormu.
And we all know how that one endet.
I love you nobbel, you take my stress way when i´m buried in studies. thank you

the new dreadlord models are cool and all, but i kinda wish they at least kept the old ones for just Balnazzar or something. So dope with the facial hair and so on
Are you going to make another video if any big lore comes out of the research notes?
do you know how often you'll release these artifact lore videos?
Also, are you going to make videos about the characters from the class hall as well?
In that case I'd like to know more about High Inquisitor Whitemane, Thoras Trollbane and Nazgrim.
Also, why did the Lich King want us Death Knights to ressurect Tirion Fordring, as the 4th horseman?
when i did the quest, the " i will it" bit made me wounder if it rly was kiroz idea to take garosh to dranor.
10:50 has anyone ever noticed that the ashbringer shifts colors? when the blade is stuck in the floor the handle is red but when you pick it up i appears yellow while you see ''the ashbringer'' and after that scene its red again o.o first time i ever noticed ^^
Stupid Light: "Sorry Death Knights! Tirion is too cool for you to join!"
8:49 Solid Snake is that you?
Also, do a lore vid of Apocalypse!
Lord Maxwell Tyrosus: "I'll signal our hippogryphs *points scope up to eye patch*
8:51 wrong eye bro
Nobbel will you make videos about the class halls campaign?
Nobbel are you on your regular video uploading schedule? Just seems like there aren't many uploads by you lately, either that or im just really wanting more Legion lore/videos from you.. most likely the second one.
Lord Maxwell Tyrosus has some dope ass shoulders!
Will you do a video on every artifact weapon?
Please make a playlist with all artefacts lore.
