The Ashbringer was the sword that Arthas needed to save his kingdom, instead he found Frostmourne.
You know, I think that you might be right.
However he already lost faith in many things by the time he had to kill his people.
We know that his hammer stopped glowing when he was doing that, so he didn't have that much hope in what he was doing
This is a recent comment, and yet not about Patrick, youre clearly not read up on current lore
But the ashbringer exists only because arthas found frostmourne. After the "death" of Muradin Magni forged this weapon and put all his anger and hate for the scourge in it.
And in the end..... The Ashbringer saved Arthas......

I used this in my DnD campaign as a paladin. Shining the light of the ashbringer as i vanquished all before me.
I honestly never played WoW and only know the beggining from Warcraft 3, and there it was super cool to see the cheerfulnes of the people and of the whole scene after the horrors of Northrend, thinking Arthas finally defeated the Scourge and got the praise he deserved. The killing of his father was a chilling surprise after that. Note that I played through the czech translation that changed pretty much the whole ending of the human campaign with there being no text before the ending cutscene, but with him having a big monologue while killing his father, which truly signified that he went insane, with him talking about how his eyes truly opened.
I don't even know why I'm writing this, so sorry, it's just a czech teen who is in a really stressful part of his life and going back to his childhood and back to the simpler times.

The real reason Tirian died in legion was because he used his last blessing from the light to defeat the lich king, therefore it did not lend its power to him during his final battle.

Miss those times, reading about the history of warcraft on my old computer about 16 years ago, playing warcraft3, i used to be a fan of the paladins, these soundtrack still powerfull to this day
