  • You may be looking at purchasing a tesla in the near future or are just curious about what kind of maintenance needs to be done on an all-electric vehicle. I’ve owned my tesla model 3 mid-range since December of 2018 and you may ask what routine service have I done on this car since then.
    This recommended maintenance is nearly identical of the tesla model Y.

    In this video I describe what maintenance is needed on a tesla and what is recommended by the owners manual. Overall servicing your tesla is very easy and over the long term will save you money in comparison to an ICE vehicle.
    These were the core maintenance services needed on a tesla model 3. Service needs are nearly the same for the tesla model Y. As you can see there’s really not that much maintenance needed in comparison to a regular gasoline vehicle. Still to this day, I have not one regret from switching from gas to electric. I can still do road trips with teslas massive supercharger network and I never worry about running out of battery because I plug in a work or at home when I’m not driving. I look forward to what Elon has coming out in the future and could not be more excited about Tesla as they continue to not only dominate the car industry but also its path to a sustainable energy future. If you’ve enjoyed this video, consider hitting that like button and subscribing below for more content. Until the next one, take care.

      I actually cant wait to replace my tires. Want run flats. Having no spare is an issue for me. I know Tesla says they will send someone out to change the tire but in the hidden comments it says you have to be less than 50 miles form a service center. Also don't want to wait an hour n the middle of the winter.

    Break fluid being replaced has nothing to do with using the brakes and the fact that brake fluid absorbs water like a sponge.

    • @ninemilliondollars
      @ninemilliondollars 3 года назад +3

      Precisely. And to what you said about the fluid absorbing water, that in turn causes corrosion in the brake lines. Unless they are made of copper-nickel, change the fluid every two years.

    • @aerodyneservices
      @aerodyneservices 3 года назад +2

      DOT4, yes. DOT3, not so much. DOT 5.1, not at all.
      My model S takes DOT 3. Testing shows copper less than 5, wet boiling point 475.
      If the pads don't wear, then the master cylinder stays full, less air volume, for outside air to enter.

    • @ninemilliondollars
      @ninemilliondollars 3 года назад +1

      @@aerodyneservices Pretty much correct except that all brake systems have moisture penetration regardless of DOT fluid used. The difference between 3/4 and 5 is the moisture is absorbed into the fluid. With 5, the moisture puddles in the lines and corrodes them in those locations. Also, if the lines get hot the puddled moisture will vaporize and be even more easily compressible under braking which can reduce stopping distance. So changing brake fluid as the maintenance schedule recommends is the way to go.

    Informative video. As mentioned in the comments below, brake lines not made of copper-nickel will corrode when water permeates into the fluid, so change it at two years. Also rotate your tires at 6,000 like all other vehicles making sure to follow the service manual's location when moving them. Also tire inflation.

      I agreed. But it needs to add car insurance for Tesla usually cost at least $50 per month more compare with gas car. Maintenance fee cost double or triple such as tires, brakes etc. Annual sticker cost double. If something wrong happen, be prepared for a few grand to fix it and get a rental car a few days while waiting.

    One thing I don't really like about the vehicle is the similarity of the interiors among models. Very utilitarian. I realize this because the touchscreen does everything and no other knobs or buttons are needed giving the empty landscape of the dashboard. But like the interior of a home, all rooms the same color are boring. Tesla needs to glam up the interior.

    using a Hepa filter on any AC system that was not designed for it is a very bad idea. When using an air filter that filters really well you have to understand that brand new this filter is extremely restrictive and causes the blower/fan to work much harder. It also causes less air to pass through the evaporator which will cause the refrigerant saturation temperature to go down, and you'll end up with a frozen evaporator. Same thing can happen from having a very dirty filter. In a home, if good filtration is desired than extra return air ducts are installed, or very large and oversized ducts are installed. In a car this is not possible. Just because these filters are made doesn't mean they are supposed to be used. So just be aware that this kind of filtration will certainly have a negative effect on the AC system.

    In the beginning you mentioned that there were 200 moving parts and a gas engine. And then you compared it to the 17 moving parts in a Tesla drive train so you would’ve had to include the reduction gears to get up to 17. I don’t know why people keep repeating this 200 moving parts statistic for gas cars. 200 moving parts is just for a four-cylinder gas engine and doesn’t include the hundreds and hundreds of moving parts inside of an automatic transmission or even 100 parts in a mechanical manual transmission. Show my wife is that the 200 moving parts is just for a small gas engine it doesn’t include a transmission. The transmission like an 10R80 Ford transmission must have 500 parts on its own and then you have many more parts are in a V8 that has four valves per cylinder. So compared with a Tesla icy cars have many more parts than the stated 17 multiple, it’s more like 40 or 41 times as many parts in an ice car than in a Tesla.

      Same exact trim, battery slightly different. Mid-Range 260 miles EPA estimate... Standard Range + 250 Miles EPA estimate.

      Tesla burns through tires way quicker due to its high torque capability. Of course this is dependent on driving habits.
