    I have a ‘21 M3SR+, the previous iteration.
    I’m 68, 6’1”, 230 lbs. In addition to the wife, we have 2 teenage boys, 14 and 16. We’ve done many a road trips in my car.
    As for the car’s height, that’s is what makes this car so much fun to drive! It is a bit lower to the ground , but that stance makes it handle really well! I’ve had other sedans and sports coupes in my driving life, as well as taller vehicles. I always prefer the lower cars - and I just work entering and exiting the car into my daily workout! Do it just right and you get a good little exercise. 😅
    I know Americans like to supersize everything, but I’d rather have the better handling, and better looking, vehicle! To each their own.
    Hope you like your new vehicle.
    Safe travels, all!

    I agree with you 100% when it comes to vision. It is to save money that they scrapped the sensors. If you have driven a car such as, for example, the VW ID4, you have no doubt that Tesla is behind in parking, auto lane assist and so on, it is so much better.

    Hello Dave - Our dog - Jobs - is a male Cotton Tulia from Madagascar and looks exactly like Miss Bailey. Apparently the original Cotton Tulia’s in Madagascar were used for shark bate. Luckily a few survived and were imported into Europe, including Jobs mother Chelsea. This is not an easy procedure requiring lots of complicated paperwork.
    Really appreciate the review of your Tesla model 3.

    Dave, big fan. Thank you for all you do. Just wanted to share something. I got an email from Bank America saying they have great deals on auto loans. However, they had a whole section on EV car loans, with as little as 0.15%, APR. it was shocking to see in todays car market. Thought I’d share. Maybe it can help someone buying an EV. My best to Kathy and Bailey.

    Excellent review. I own a 2023 Model 3 Performance, and like you, I’m very tall - in my case, 6’4”. The car is remarkable and the few complaints I have center on ease of getting in and out of the car, and that the side mirrors are unable to be adjusted high enough or out far enough for someone on my height. Other than that, it’s the finest car I’ve ever owned and I come from a long list of Porsches and BMW M3s - so that’s really high praise, indeed!

    On my Model 3, I’ve set the easy entry setting to fully raise the driver’s seat, to allow easy exit and entry. Yeah, I have to wait a couple seconds to exit, but at 6’ 1”, I find it more comfortable. I covered the wood grain finish with a carbon fiber wrap and it looks awesome. The only thing that continues to bother me is the suspension. I wish it rode a little softer over bumpy roads, here in Ohio.

    I was sad about trading in my 2018 Model 3 with the Acceleration Boost for a 2023 Model Y Performance...until I drove the Y. I was more sad about the low ball trade in value Tesla gave me with no room to haggle the price up a bit. I had a lot of issues with my 2018 between build quality and failures. But the 2023 has a much better build quality, I like the hatchback and it's so much easier to get in and out of. But vision only sucks and not having Summon even though I have transferred over my FSD, it's still not functioning for HW4.
    In California there is no $7,500 state incentive, only the Federal $7,500 tax credit. We do have a $2,000 rebate but we are now on a standby list for it as the funds are almost gone.

  • @TB-up4xi

    It's very rare that you qualify for the full CA rebate and the Federal tax rebate at the same time - to get the full CA rebate you need to be a low income earner, to get the full Federal rebate you need to earn enough to generate over $7500 in federal tax liability.

    I think Dave will miss his M3 RWD for his daily driving. I considered trading my 2018 M3 LR RWD for a Model X, and take advantage of Tesla's now expired offer to transfer FSD. As much as I would like to have an X, with self closing doors, panaoramic windshield, and 5000 lb. towing, I would miss the small size and nimble handling of my Model 3 for daily driving around town. So I decided to keep my classic. Maybe I will trade for a "Highland" upgraded Model 3 someday.

    I’ve had this 2023 RWD 3 car as a rental for the last few days & I’ve really put it thru a stress test I’ve beat on it, my remarks are: 1. It’s plenty quick/powerful/fun to drive! Flooring it From a stop feels slow compared to other teslas but getting on it from 25+ mph ur leaving 95% of normal cars behind. Freeway power it’s also great getting on it at highway speeds u out accelerate 85% of cars on road. 2. Driving feel, suspension, braking, turning all feels SOLID. U can accelerate hard brake hard turn in fast all day doesn’t break a sweat. 3. Super efficient compared to dual motor/performance models. The battery percentage drops much slower than those models even during spirited driving.
    My ONLY problem with this car is the audio system..it’s the ONLY reason I won’t buy one. It’s slightly better than most cars but the premium audio in the dual motor/performance teslas is soo amazing that this sounds half done. If you don’t love jamming music while driving it’s a 8-8.5/10 car!

    Not exactly accurate about 7500 off in California. Only for extremely low income residents. Used to be able to get $2k rebate in CA but as of November 5, that’s gone away and now CA is focusing in subsidizing low income - which is cool.

    Great review. I tried a Model 3 at my local showroom here in the UK and the first thing which struck me was how low the seat height is compared to my Model Y. I much prefer the ease of getting in and out of the Model Y plus the practicality of it being a hatchback. Tesla biggest mistake with the Model 3 is not making it a hatchback like the Polestar 2. Polestar 2 refresh should appeal to buyers who don't like the Model 3 refresh because of the lack of stalks and the added advantage of more practicality of the Polestar 2 being a hatchback. The new RWD Polestar 2 single motor’s has 320-mile EPA range and faster charging speed. Other upgrades include an increase of 69 horsepower (299 total) and 118 extra lb-ft of torque (361 lb-ft in all). Additionally, the 440V platform can charge as high as 220 kW, charging 10-80% in 25-28 mins - a 20% speed increase, according to Polestar.

    • @Harrythehun
      @Harrythehun 9 месяцев назад +1

      Unfortunately for Polestar the price is too high. The value for the money is still better with a Tesla.

      The Model 3 is like my Porsche Boxster which is a sports car. These cars are by definition lower to the ground. My Porsche is a bit more difficult to enter than the Model 3. So, the smaller, more nimble Tesla Model 3 is a sports car in my opinion.

    Many LFP EV owners feel they have more range since charging to 100% daily is permitted. That’s a fallacy. For all other batteries, you charge to 100% when you need it. When you don’t need maximum range, 80% is fine.
    However, LFP batteries do help drivers who can’t anticipate and plan their range needs in advance. Most EV owners I know don’t have this problem.

    • @acolon8999
      @acolon8999 9 месяцев назад +1

      Add to that the fact that the max charging speed is limited to about 170kW so not only it will take longer to charge but even if you decide to charge to 100% you still have less range than the long range version.
      Another point to consider is that cold temperatures negatively affect the LFP batteries more than it affects the batteries in the long range version.

    • @pauld3327

      LFP batteries last longer.
      3000 cycles for LFP batteries vs 1500 cycles for Nickel-based batteries.

      @@johnpoldo8817 The Tesla Model 3 with the LFP battery can charge up to 170 kW. The Model Y with the BYD Blade battery made in Berlin can charge even faster.

    This has to be the best daily driver out there. A wonderful car, but Tesla continues to perplex me. Removing safety items that can be had in a much cheaper Hyundai, like radar assist for one. The new model goes further by eliminating the stalks! The new blind side warning lights are the size of a pinpoint - hardly noticeable. Imagine someone renting one of these and trying to figure out the signal buttons! Again - Tesla makes the best EVs by far, and I recommend them. I'd just like to see them care more about ergonomics and design.
