One thing I’ve started doing especially with new tires is taking them to the kitchen sink with a sturdy bristle brush and some simple green and scrubbing off the release agent on them, it seems to keep them from getting loaded up with sand and dirt so easily and it does seem like it softens them up a little bit at the same time.
In Prescott, AZ. I use the Krawlers, was told they needed scrubbed in. They were walking lines brand new. But, they perform great after broken in as well.
I’ve got a 4WS Capra sitting at home for me when I get home from this work trip. Can’t wait to start on it! Already have 1.9 Krawlers with SL3D inserts on vanquish wheels for it, brass kunckles all around, brass front portal covers, 11t pinion, under drive gear for the rear axle, SS links to make it a 13” wheelbase, new Reef’s servos, and a few other fiddly bits for it! Should make for a fun rig, with a whole different driving experience! I’ve never had a 4ws rig before, and haven’t done much other than 12.3-12.5”WB on my 1/10th rigs.
I completely agree about the forward pull and sidewall traction. The sidewall traction is unreal and has bound up my rig multiple times where the Krawler slides through. The sidewall seems compliant enough for the weight of a modified Capra. Very excited to get them scrubbed in and see their full potential.
Really enjoyed the video. Sometime, in the future, I will have to give the Tripidors a try. I am currently using Ruptures on my Capra. The haven't let me down yet.
I have the maxxas treps on my 6th scale honcho and they are absolutely awesome I love them on the truck. But I did get the 4.9 1.9 treps in and mounted on a truck but haven't drove it with those tires on it yet.
Definitely suit the Capra in size and style. Initial performance looked slightly underwhelming but like you said needs scrubbed in. Definitely ok with just G8, Predators perish very quickly.
Fantastic tires, they have really surprised me on my 5.3lb scx10iii build. Sporting a 27% od with the stealth X transmission and proline dual stage foams. I really thought they would be too stiff... Not at all. Can't wait until they're scrubbed. With the limited time I have running them, I did notice the sidewalls seem to indeed grab a little better. Running on pretty rough Snake River basalt. Great content Logan!
Got mine in a few days ago. They are my new favorite tire even over super swampers. They grip really really well on the rock around here. They’re huge though 😅
Got a set on the way......we'll find out!!!! I'll let you know how they do at horseman's....... I think they definitely need to make more tire options at the 5" mark.... just for the longer rig's ...I run my main crawler at 13.75 on a interceptor chassis and I run the ruptures just for more belly clearance!!!
Can agree with these needing to be worn in. Took them to reefs crawl night fresh out the package and they were difficult to work with. Break in time is going to be important but I think overall they will be a good tire
Awesome trail Logan. Hope to see more videos from there. There is nothing wrong with adding a minimilist rock to make a new trail runable the whole way. Great timing on the Treps review, as I am planning out my next straight axle Capra build. I think a Predator version would be a nice fit on it if made available.
Rather than them performing better on a bit heavier car as you suggest... how about axle and wheel weights? Keep that cog low. I see you have some on there. Maybe more inside the wheel or beef tubes? Fantastic bit of driving here btw.
I have said that several times now mine's all stretched and you know whatever custom I just got their 1.0 Troubadours the other day and I noticed they done really good on certain rocks but then on the other rocks they didn't do with dang I think they will be really good though once they're scrubbed in
I’ve literally waited years for better trepador axial had 1.9 and 2.2 treps they looked great but they literally have no traction I’m stoked proline made these I slapped them on my vanquish phenix that I converted to a origin it’s heavy with vanquish f10 axles so it should do great haven’t run em yet ha ha
I have definitely noticed that one tire may not perform very good on one rig then you put it on a different break and it performs excellent I think a lot of it has to do with you know geometry the weight the setup obviously
Side note* I like to put my crawler tires on my bashers for a little bit to scrub them in. I just do a few light hearted burnouts on one of the road rigs.
I've heard several people say and I kind of experienced it myself when you hear luck noise that is normally not a good thing what do you think I think that would be a good discussion
Locally we couldn’t get proline to work the greatest in either compound most of us have switched to jcon green compound I did a set of cut n shut tusks for my Capra for C3 and love it! Definitely wish I had the rock terrain you have there!
@@DanBrando Midwest US area nothing crazy for rocks here unless you find it in a state park and they usually frown on RC crawling a 6-7 pound truck but people can walk on it lol 😂
Midwest here as well. The Prolines G8 and predator compounds work well, certainly better than the old proline tires (M3 compound I think?) like what came with the original Scx10 kits, and any other tire that has come in a kit or on an RTR. But certainly some scrubbed in J concepts green tires of any tread pattern seem to do just a bit better than any proline. Which sucks because proline wins for looks with officially licensed tires.
It would really help to see diff tires run the same lines back to back on the same rig, otherwise, we're just taking your word based on impression. How do those inserts work on diff width clamp rings?
Maybe I just don’t get it. But are those kut n shuts on 1.9 or on 2.2? Thinking of using the hyrax LP but those need to be on 2.2 as far as I understand?! Greetings from her 🙋🏼♂️😅
What way do you recommend venting your tires? I’ve heard of people heating up a small, finishing nail and melting a hole in them, and also using a leather punch with the smallest hole.
I use a 2.5mm diameter leather punch for 1.9 and 2.2 tires. Two holes 180° apart on the tire is plenty. And use a 1.5mm punch for 1.0 tires. Although you need to have the tires dismounted to use a leather punch since you really need to have the tire against a hard surface for the punch to make a clean cut. I find it easiest to wobble or roll around the edge of the punch while applying pressure to make the cut rather than trying to use a hammer on the punch. If your tire is mounted on a wheel the punch method is nearly impossible. And if that’s the case I’ll cut two tiny holes with some lexan or other small and sharp scissors. I can see the heated finishing nail making nice clean hole if the tire is mounted, but probably sinks up the room.
How do you even get your hands on some Spec RC wheels. Every time you suggest them I go look at their site and its always sold out. Like for over a year.
Probably because injora rips off legitimate designs that people have licensing for and injora has shit compounds that won’t keep up. But go ahead and buy tires for a “good deal” when tires are the only thing that make a truck actually climb over rocks.
@@westdesertwheeler They are a bit different though, the Injora has a better side-wall tread! & just for the record they have been making them for longer than Proline!!!!😉

your a outstanding driver, love to see you climb, supper swamper TSL-sx is hard to beat,

I concur
I’m still waiting to ship from a sept 8th pre order. Great video

I would've loved if they made them in a 4.5. 4.9 is fine for buggies, but anything with a full body is going to rub pretty bad.
Definitely suit the Capra in size and style. Initial performance looked slightly underwhelming but like you said needs scrubbed in. Definitely ok with just G8, Predators perish very quickly.
Nice review and I agree! I use a 5” diameter tire on my Capra with a 2.2 rim….anything bigger looks a bit goofy imo…
Love capra axles. Have an aftermarket set that I put on a redcat gen 7. I know cheap truck for it, but the thing performs.

Do you have a part number for the 2 stage inserts
I gotta say logan thank you for all the tire informarion really enjoy the video .
And some new terrain!!

I would like to see it preform with the stock foam inserts.

Have you tried 2.2 ruptures? Big tires but work amazingly!
just ordered a set off your link. can't wait to try them out on my Capra
Greatly appreciated! Thanks

You should start making micro crawler videos it would bring in a lot of fans
I would like to see more 2.2 LP tires for Proline. That 5 to 5.5 size is a sweet spot for buggy's and Traxxas Height Trails.
Sweet! Can’t wait to see these in action!
Nice video, I've been moving towards smaller class 1 tires . Predator preferred also.
Patiently waiting for the next CNS Treps!!
Love your videos. I learn so much. Keep up the hard work

Video watched in its entirety. Like button engaged.
I got front and rear suck down winches on my 2.2 wraith

Sounds like you need to work out an arrangement with the Arizona guys to buy their used tires.
It would really help to see diff tires run the same lines back to back on the same rig, otherwise, we're just taking your word based on impression. How do those inserts work on diff width clamp rings?
He has tons of videos with all kinds of tires. And this isn't a demo channel.
What a killer ass job man I learned a lot from you definitely inspiration I appreciate what you do bro
The ascent tires have a similar pattern to em…..kinda haha
What weight shock oil do you recommend with those springs?
Going to have to put mu capra back together.
Maybe I just don’t get it. But are those kut n shuts on 1.9 or on 2.2? Thinking of using the hyrax LP but those need to be on 2.2 as far as I understand?! Greetings from her 🙋🏼♂️😅
I have a question about my Capra I’ve not been able to figure out it out and I need to help let me know if you can help me!
The tires look great
I've been looking. What wheels are you running on your rig?

Which skid do you recommend for a 3 gear transplant? Also will a 2-in-1 fit with this conversion? Thanks
UC Fab. Yes you can fit a fusion and 3 gear
How do you even get your hands on some Spec RC wheels. Every time you suggest them I go look at their site and its always sold out. Like for over a year.
Follow his Instagram he opens books for a week or so every few months and makes them to order. Meaning you can pick the styles you want
Are you still building your 4Runner or are you getting a moon buggy?
Can u reply with the traxxas part # for the links to stretch wheelbase. Thanks.
5525 also called revo rod ends
That's exactly what I thought little bit of a heavier rig
Can anyone tell me what shock set up he’s running?
i am disapointed the trepadors aren't 4.75
What traxxas links are you using to extend the wheelbase?
Traxxas rod ends part number 5525 is very common. Also called revo rod ends
Thank you! I just got a 4ws Capra few days ago and am new to the class 3 scene, this was my first year even doing class 1 and 2
I want a Capra sooo bad!!! 😅
Slick
These tires class 3 legal?
Uhh they should be I don’t know
Won’t lie….
Went back to watch the raffle rig drive….
Was disappointed it wasn’t there to watch.
It’s still there. My reminder video is gone. The running video was posted 3-4 back
They look an awful lot like the INJORA King Trekker to me just 2 & 1/2 times the price! 🤔
Yes but Pro-line pays a licensing fee to maxxis to use the tread design and name, and injora steals other companies designs and puts their name on it.
Whatever bro' I live in New Zealand you try buying goods from America in New Zealand & you'll soon find out why I buy from Injora bro'
Noooooo!! I just got here!!!!
Thank you for sharing a good video with a nice car! 💯👍👍
