    I work for the BNSF RR and have traveled your layout for real. I'm amazed how many places on your layout are still recognizable even today. I don't personally model RR but it's always interesting to see the time and detail you all put into your layouts. It's a love for railroading that shows in your incredible craftsmanship. Thank you MRH for featuring John's Frisco layout. Just awesome!

    Thanks so much! I sure was surprised to see the name Peluso pop up! My great-grandfather was a Peluso who worked for the Canadian Pacific Railroad for 37 years!

    This is my first viewing of this series.. The interviews were excellent.. This was news to me that Bachmann is making the SIEMANS DIESEL! The cover of The 2020 Book/ catalog now i know how they do that! Im amazed. One thing i will never ever, ever do with a train set is a cicle only 18' radius track that's a beginners set of a big NO, NO. Unless you enjoy derailments on any of your sets and snap track? Retired & finished ! Big sets rule & make plenty sense why limit that on your trains turnouts? I workedin a train store & 2 customers returned their sets later it wasn't only the engines failure but the tight18"radius curves . Very clever on the hidden door trackage. The lightings work well on both decks. And again with Bachmann: The artistry really worked looks like the train is curving in 🎬 action. Beautifully done i will continue to view this series. I got new decorating ideas and hope to purchase from one of your sponsors.. Thanks for this video..☺🏭🏨🏦🏥🏣🏢🏫⛽🚚🏦🚧🚥🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃

    What a show! I just love all the layout tours. It gives you ideas what to do with your layout & the fundamentals how to do a operating layout! I always look forward to Mr. Conroy's drone footage. Just amazing! The diorama with the new Bachmann train(Amtrak SC44. The super elevated curve by Mr. Patterson is just outstanding! This is the "Worlds Greatest Hobby" Model Railroading Is Fun! Till Next Time! MoPac Jack

    Another nice episode. For ballastwork you really need a Proses ballasttool, it makes it so much easier. I don't know where to get it in the USA though.

    Tap top of rail with a wooden handed 1 inch paint brush once ballast is in place the vibrations will cause all the extra on top of ties to fall between the ties.

    Have an old issue of "How to Run Your Model Railroad" by 'Boomer Pete', Al Kalmbach's nom de plume. In the text, Al says we model trains to replicate "the purposeful movement of passengers and freight." Even way back in Al's time, he was into operations.

    I enjoy your shows. I'd like to see a show that goes into some detail about the financial aspects of the hobby, including how to budget for various types of layouts, what costly mistakes to avoid, and perhaps the dollar range that people typically spend annually. These and related topics are important considerations for people considering getting into model railroading.

    • @cdjhyoung
      @cdjhyoung 4 года назад

      bmack2000 - the costs associated with this hobby are highly variable. Some of the factors involved would be how large a layout you wish to build; the level of detail you add; techniques for building and time. I've done most of my model railroading as modules for club layouts that usually were two feet wide by some multiple of two feet long. I have found they average about $100 a linear foot to build. That includes frame work for the module, track work, wiring and the finished scenery. The thing is, you don't need to spend all that money up front. The purchases can be spread over months to fit a personal budget if need be. Of course, as the scope goes up, so does the underlying investment. You will eventually get to the range of 'don't discuss this in front of the wife'. That is the range you see here. I feel model railroading is about as expensive over the life of the layout as having a really nice collector car. The up side is you control how quickly you invest the money you're willing to spend on it over what ever length of time you chose. The down side is that it is not an investment you are likely to recover when it comes time to dispose of the layout/collection. Model railroading is entertainment. Just as you pay greens fees in golf, money for theater tickets or any other hobby, you pay as you go and enjoy applying skills to gain a finished product. The subject of operation at the end of this video is one way to share the hobby with your friends by holding operating sessions.
      This has become a long answer that doesn't really answer your question. If you can apply $1000 over the course of a year, and have some hand tools and skills, you could build a sceniced switching layout in HO about 18 inches by 10 feet and be proud of what you've done. Keep in mind that you can buy any number of good looking and good running pieces of equipment second hand at train shows and on line that are there simply because other modelers change the focus of what they wish to have. Hope this helps.

      I think he uses something called Helicoiling or something like that. Its where you take the same photo at different focus settings from front to back, then put them all together on the computer. There is a good piece on it on the NMRA website Clinics. And, of course, sunlight helps. We even had a bit of sunshine in England today.

      Ken always closes the aperture at the maximum (22 or more depending on the lens), and in a past episode, he explained that he use also Helicon Focus
      www.heliconsoft.com/
      Without the accessories from Helicon, using a DSLR for that is a pain, as you need to do several photos with different focus. Expect for super shots, I prefer to use my cell phone with a tripod. On Android, Open Camera can do a focus stacking (8 or more photos with different focus), from one click.

    I'm just curious, on a photo shoot is there a reason it doesn't have headlights?

    • @JamesRegiersModels
      @JamesRegiersModels 4 года назад

      In this case, the reason was simple. The model was pre-production and did not have any electronics whatsoever. It is a pity, because those chargers look amazing at night, with the lit side panels and all the warning and auxiliary lights on them, and Bachmann is going to represent it all in their upcoming model.

    10 years plus of scenery done with white glue and water mix. Not a sign of this cracking you are talking about. Quit plugging overpriced hobby supplies.
