Just wanted you to check this out: Glidden Gripper. It is a Glidden primer and, for some reason, it works like a champ in terms of gluing pink foam. I watched a youtube video of craft lady run a series of tests on gluing pink foam and Glidden Gripper won. I have used it, and it is awesome. When I watch everyone struggling with blues and like, I just want to say: TRY GLIDDEN GRIPPER! Can you please give it a try and let us know what you think? Just paint it on with a heavy, somewhat sloppy coat, in splotches, and then weigh it down for a few hours. You can get it at Home Depot. Thanks, Ken!
Ive been in the hobby for 60 years now and have amassed quite a collection of buildings, rolling stock and locomotives, but it never fails to amaze me how much I learn watching others do they thing.
Great video.....now I wish I had room for a layout.
Great Whats Neat Ken. Enjoyed the great tips on your methods for building a layout table. Mr. Pellegrinos layout looks like it is awesome to operate. Campbell's layout is off to a great start, cant wait to see how it progresses. Cheers Rob
Wow great building technique Ken, a lot of fun.
What an outstanding show! To see Joe's operational layout was just amazing! Then we go to Campbell's train layout under construction and it's outstanding so far! The n-scale layout is a neat concept for show layouts! This is the "Worlds Greatest Hobby" Till Next Time! MoPac Jack
This video is quite timely for me. My daughter is doing a class project for Minnesota history and chose the topic of Minnesota Railroads. As part of her display, we will make a small model railroad of the size you made to demonstrate two industries, grain elevators to mills and iron ore mines to boats. The main difference is we will add a sky board that will double as our informational poster. It will be fun.
Ken,
Awesome video. Great modeling tips for the novice to the pros. Love the layout tours. Keep up the good work.
Frank
Another great video Ken.
Here are my questions about the N scale layout build: Why are the wood blocks needed? Why is the wood top needed? Why not just glue the foam together and save all the other hours of work?
You know i will say this was again another great show! Thumbs up and will be back Saturday:)
Daniel
Great work, I've subbed
I'd love to see how you made that control panel. I'm sure it's not too complicated but I would like to see what material you used cause I need something similar. Thanks, keep up the great work!
Suggestion Ken , listen to what Joe and Campbell say and you won't have to ask a question about whet they have already said .
Your right...I Know......
@17:50 I work at what once was called "Sclair" and the company I work for has bought them out and those orange Sclair cars were once solely made for the polyethylene (plastic) manufacturing facility that I work at. There are only several left around as most have been condemned with being over 40 years old. Those that are kept around, are deliberately used for certain applications at our site now, one being they are a much smaller sized hopper car (3 compartments) vs the newer larger gray 4 compartment hopper cars and fit into certain spots that the larger hopper cars can't because of the old age of the plant.
thank you other show to watch and joy model railroad
❓ What? ❓
Thanks Ken all is neat.
always great videos. fun and informative. what kinda of foam board is that on the smaller project and who usually sells it? been looking everywhere.
High Five, Ken!!!
Rock n Roll
Hi Steve! I like your idea of using the metal tubing for your diorama wire. Would you recommend doing the same thing on a larger layout?
Metal tubing is great for helping you thread wire through layers of material. Doesn't matter if it's the foam of a diorama or of a layout. or the leather of a homemade infinity gauntlet you want to light. A metal tube will give you a smooth bore and a straight line, both of which are invaluable for threading flexible and tangly wire.
@@JamesRegiersModels Thank you sir.
Ken, you should have a Gorilla Glue sponsorship -SC
I feel like I've seen this before.. more than fifty times.
You have.. Fact is when a process works it can be applied to many facets of creating scenery in any scale.. only the advent of new products or techniques change the algorithm..
Is that the one you built for Athearn, I saw it up in Springfield
I'm wondering the same thing.
Yes it is.
By the way, the opening train is the Kansas City Chief as well as I could represent it with Walthers coaches. Super Bowl LIV Champions, baby!
What model of vacuum were you using? That’s a really long tool.
Clark
Ken Patterson Clark?
"Nailset" not center punch.
I know... I found it funny in the edit but did not change it.. Fact is.. it really worked as Chris wanted a solid ply wood top and glue under the track could have made a mess. you don't get paid for a mess....got it done in 4 days....
Ken, more information and inspiration. Keep at it.
Layout tours are sadly unimpressed.
Whatever......................
The real railroad modelers hate me because I pronounce "Kato" incorrectly. I pronounce it "Kay-toe". They hate that.
We consider the authoritative source on name pronunciation to be the person or vendor themselves, the Kato people pronounce it "Kaw-toe". Most people, especially Asians, are honored if you do try to pronounce their name correctly. The Kato people themselves also will not like it if you say "Kay-toe" ... so just keep that in mind.
Would help if the track was called by its proper name, unitrack. It's not snap track.
Once again N scale gets slighted, I will officially un-subscribe this time.
See Ya... Have a great day.. I also Get N and S wrong. Mike buddies 1st name. heck I can't even get Joe Fugate correct. Fooooogate.. If you can't love me than leave me... I love N scale I just don't model it because can't see it up close....... KP
