Were you of voting age when Pierre was King? He was the one who got rid of Canada's banking and sold us out to the globalists. We had no debt when he was elected, but a 600 billion debt when he left. It's really quite simple.
Harper had been in office for almost ten years, most prime ministers lose their popularity after that long a tenure. Chretien would have been busted to a minority if Paul Martin weren't waiting in the wings back in 2000. Trudeau Senior also lost the 1979 election, though Clark's relatively underwhelming campaign resulted in a minority government.
It also didn't help that Harper over-estimated Canada's inherent liberalism and opposition to the west - and tried to pass through his "secret agenda" little by little, while holding a veiled hostility. He never tried to sell Canadians on the new vision for a more conservative Canada.
It also didn't help that a number of scandals emerged under Harper's watch - considering he ran on a pledge to put an end to scandals and restore integrity and ethics to Ottawa, his credibility, the main reason Canadians voted for him in the first place, was destroyed.
But lastly, Trudeau simply was a naturally magnetic figure who could attract attention and votes, the likes not seen since his father. Harper was the opposite - he only ever won elections against liberals without charisma or were completely discredited.
If people can't take the pain and inconvenience it takes to stop the bus, fix it, and get it rolling again, which takes many years, a generation or more, then things will go on to a bitter end. It gets a bit worse before it gets better. You don't just hit the brakes on this juggernaut and it's an instant stop. You can't fix it in a day and get it back up to speed in five minutes. Instant gratification has been bred in to our society now and we need to get rid of that.
People don't want to have their comfy safe and elitist lives interrupted and maybe even downsized, with the big house two cars, designer clothes for them and their kids, fancy vacations and all that bullshit around money, property and prestige, drenched in ego and vanity, to make things better.
They don't mind if it doesn't effect them in any way.
They are too self centered and selfish and self absorbed, in their little bubble they have been herded and brainwashed in to by the corporate and elitist world.
For God sake don't bust their bubble, even if it's to help others.
That's okay though.
We can do this the hard way, or we can do this the nightmare way. At least a nightmare for some. Some will take comfort in a way in the collapse, roll up their sleeves and work together to rebuild a better world

He only won because of people he knew through his father in cabinet who helped him get in. Its easier when you come from a political family to know how to get help like he did. Other smarter liberal MPs helped get him in and spoke up for him, saying that he was a likeable, modest (through dumbness) reasonable character which I dont even think he is at all though that was their argument. They know damn well he will screw up the country but they don't really care. A load of liberal MPs in there are rich people who are just waiting for their next vacation somewhere else and then a retirement home once their career is done and leave it to the forthcoming government to undo all the muck they did. And their excuse is - it will get fixed (by Scheer or Singh)?

The vote was against Harper's divisive policies. Trudeau emerged as a leader who offered united Canada despite our differences. I say this from personal grass root interaction with Aboriginal, Quebec, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians people during election days.
