The thing about Bjork, (specifically the first 3 or 4 albums), is she would create all the loops and beats (mostly) on her own. She wasn't just a really unique singer with a magical voice, singing lyrics... she created the entire soundscapes from what she heard in her head, and filled them beyond capacity with emotion, honesty, passion, and a complete disregard for what anyone might think or say about her many "odd or strange" nuances, because to her, she was just being completely truthful and sincere to herself. Which is what the best artists should always aspire to be. Passion and honesty resonates.
Yes her sincerity adds so much to her musical talent! Her love songs hit in ways very few other love songs do.
Bjork doesn't do anything "mostly on her own" until the 5th album.
Bjork is an artist that didn't really accept any labels (even "avante garde"). She followed her bliss and let us follow along.

I know how to get Lex to meet Brad in the middle. Go back to the days Bjork was the lead singer for a band called the Sugarcubes (1980's). Their music was more like pop but still had a lot of Bjork's quirky essence. So, take a listen to the following Sugarcubes songs: Motorcrash, Cold Sweat, Birthday, or Hit.

Brad's love for female singers with unique vocals and styles is relatable. I like a lot of various types of music and songs, but there is just something about alternative female singers they just draws me in. I also love how perplexed Lex is to see Brad so enthusiastic about these singers, it's like she is finding out about a new side to him.

The live version of Venus As a Boy on 120 Minutes is incredible. Sexy and ethereal and completely different from anything else.

I'm a huge Bjork fan and Hyperballad is hands down my favorite of her songs. The first time I heard it, it immediately opened my world to electronic as a legit artistic expression. I had primarily been into rock, R&B, pop music before that, and after, it was like I was open and ready for everything. I can't say that any other song or even artist has opened my world the way that Bjork did.

Bjork is one of those people who is so intelligent that they almost seem like they belong in a nut house. Not only has she produced like 90% of her own music, from scratch, but also builds her own sounds and sonic frequencies through sound synthesis modules.

So true. Every time I watch interviews with her, you can tell she's the smartest person in the room by a long shot. It irritates me in the Sugarcubes interviews because the other band members blather on and talk over her - a lot.

Seriously though, I have always loved Bjork. I put a bunch of Bjork iron-on patches on a kind of expensive Ralph Lauren hoodie when I was a kid and my mom got mad. I have all her albums.
She stars in a movie, “Dancer in the Dark” that is heartbreaking, She has a small role in the recently released film “The Northman.” She’s one of a kind for sure.

Yea, her music is hard to put your finger on, but it’s amazing. It’s not just her voice and lyrics, but her accompanying music fuses so well with her vocals, it’s like magic.

Welcome to the world of Bjork my brother. Once you hear her for the first time you're hooked.
You need some Nordic Folk . You should react to Wardruna Helvegen (The road to Hell) feat Aurora or Skugge (shadow). If you want some crazy sounds Heilung - Krigsgaldr (war magic) or In Maidjan (to change deceitfully) I highly recommend these two as the live version in LIFA. These two bands use ancient handmade instruments as well as nature like fire, wood, bones (including human), skin drums, birds, and shields. There's also throat singing.

Have seen Björk in 1997 with Mark Bell in a discotheque live. It was mesmerizing. Mark Bell from LFO was a giant of electronic music and techno. A time you still could just party with Bjórk. This song was also on the set, live!!! Was in good company, a night I won't forget ever!!!

Being a fan since her first album, I finally took the opportunity to see her perform live and it was as amazing as I always expected it to be. I'm with Brad on this. Her vocal is one of my very favourites, if not my favourite I've ever heard.
What I always got from this song was that she wasn’t literally living on the top of a mountain, wondering what it would be like to jump off. But that she was in a relationship which felt safe but she still wondered what her life could be if she ended it and jumped off the metaphorical cliff so to speak.

He's right. She is one of the hardest vocalists to imitate for the reasons he says. Listen to others try to cover her. She's a pioneer in experimental electronica as well. You should check out a movie she did a long time ago called dancer in the dark. It's a drama/musical...I'm not big on musicals but it is a really good movie. Won some awards. Like her music the movie will move you as well. It helps show a little of why she's so special. EVERYTHING is music in her head. She can find rhythm's in anything like she can sing to the sound of a train going across a train track, a bunch of factory workers working, cooking in the kitchen, etc.. More than anything...She has the uncanny ability to make these gorgeous vocal lines that reach into your chest & into the depths of your soul. Love Bjork.

Bjork is a very talented, pretty pixie with a great voice and dancer. Small lady, but she is also strong. Beat up some reporters/paparazzi at an airport one time about 20 years ago or so lol. She was with her son when they kept harassing her. They had to break up the fight.

I'm always surprised when real artistry is embraced by the general public. You don't see it often, but something about Bjork's music seems to really reonate with people, a lot more than I imagined. Personally, I love off-the-beaten-path: XTC, Zappa, Talking Heads, Primus, They Might Be Giants, Captain Beefheart, Television, Laurie Anderson, and so many more.
Hyperballad is my favorite Bjork song. She can be challenging to listen to, but this one is just a great song.
