- Today reggaeton superstar J Balvin welcomes Architectural Digest for a tour of his tranquil Colombian home. Medellín-based design firm 5 Sólidos completely gutted the existing structure, reimagining the space as a serene, understated pavilion. Elements like blackened wood siding and shoji-like framed linen doors and screens point to the influence of Japanese aesthetics. Warm planes of French oak wrap the interiors, coupled with an array of pared-down modern furnishings. In fact, the palette is only interrupted by an eruption of color in J Balvin’s closet, where about 850 pairs of sneakers are displayed in what could pass for the world’s dopest shoe museum.

Not really. J balvin does more than just reggaeton. He shows a whole culture and embraces it and he squeezes all of the beauty of Latin community. He is very into our culture and loves it passionately. If you pay enough attention to his music and style you notice he makes art. When he was young he was part of the culture but j balvin grew to understand his own culture and take the beauty of it, work from it from a very artistic view. He is amazing.

I’m Japanese and I wish I was living in such a nice Japanese style mansion like this. He seems to know about the value of Japanese beauty than we actually do.
Indeed! I'm girl and was thinking of doing something similar if I ever could afford, I'm Brazilian though, love Japanese food, yoga, meditation, I like stylish and humble though, I'd add some flowers and an entire spot for growing food myself because I like fresh raw natural, a spot to read books, also a spot to come home and roll on floor relaxing like what I saw in a Japanese serie. I also don't watch TV for over 20 years now I think. I abandoned it before everyone did in my country. I love the European Victorian too, Harajuku stuff but I end up choosing place to relax. But I love movies...I'd prob have a huge screen to share with friends. I got rid of many shoes and clothings, I still think I have too much, but I thought other people would feel happier wearing them because although I loved them, I wasn't able to use them all, It honestly was the best choice...I love drinking tea and having nice different meals so prob kitchen would be nice, but bathroom would be super relaxing. But I never want to stay alone....Don't want a too big house, but necessary space to workout and maybe do some taichi training and other stuff that are healthy, friends could join! I also prefer in the nature, but I'd have a tiny starbucks cafe to make matcha frapuccino cause it's my favorite drink, haha!
Right now I'm still super poor, I eat on Japanese bowl and don't use fork for the past...11 years? I got bamboo hashi. I can't own animals but wanted to adopt some to make me company. I wish best friends could always come home though...to laugh together...my entire life...I live only by myself, can't picture too big room without friends. The cinema room would be 4DX though haha....3D with moving chairs cuz I love movies for real XD

Pretty proud of him representing another side of Colombia, zen, nature, calm, humble but caring and detailed oriented. Love that he doesn’t drink, a sing of a smart human.
Juan Suarez he took inspiration from Japanese style
I was reluctant to like him and his work but I can see his beautiful, stoic personality thriving in this house. It’s so relaxing and cheerful to be or see his home. Who wouldn’t be impressed? It’s somewhere to just enjoy life and be easy. Thank you for sharing this. My soul felt balanced watching this video. It’s chill but FAR from boring. His house is to inspire not just emotional balance but meaningful interactions. Awareness of you, your surroundings and of others, as opposed to always trying to escape reality like much of the media tries to do nowadays.
This is the most wholesome house tour of a mansion that I’ve ever seen. This guy knows how to do it right.
as a Japanese person, this makes me so happy that the house is Japanese design inspired, it’s beautiful !
What is name of three inside his house
The juxtaposition is so funny: the calmness and minimalism of the Japanese vibe and then you go into the closet and it's like ba-zam with colors and quantity.
In a way it represents his personality
His Vice haha
I‘m Japanese. This house is a wonderful Japanese-style house without any sense of incongruity. Thank you for your respect for Japanese culture.
🇯🇵🗻🗼⛩🎎🍣🌸
Other celebs: Ok AD, now get out.
Balvin: You can stay here.
Frrr
Yeah, It always seems to me very rude, i am happy that someone said them it in nice and did not “kick” them from house
@@zimovadenisa1 I guess it's explainable that they want people out of their house because the insides of their house is going to be exposed to the world. Privacy issues
They can rephrase it but yeah you’re right I think it’s also a cultural thing.
Latino culture
"My two babies are the most important ones"
*me thinking he's talking about his cars*
"Look, my dogs!"
🥺
Da, da, da!! 😂
I felt the same way 😭😭
ruclips.net/video/5O3YLYuYk4E/видео.html ♥️✨🔥
Same lol
He’s a really nice guy, who doesn’t like to show off, as he does in his videos! I like him better like this, than in his vids!
uh do you know him personally?

Labels gotta make you have a personality
Videos are a performance. His job is a performer for fans. Much like when you get dressed for work and play a role for your customers.
Rafał Dydkiem Machał I agree with that. I do think that actions speak louder than words and he shows through expression of interior design that he values sanctuary, peace, nature as art, etc. He could have filled his home with more materialistic things.
"It's a place not to show off but a place for my soul to rest" that is what a home is supposed to be
Seems like a very down to earth, and cool person...”I got manners, I can’t just kick you out”.
When he said “I can’t tell, I’ll be grounded” I felt that
Yeah, he says his mom doesn't like him to be bragging about money or belongings.
👻?
I'm like Ha ha HA
He showed his humility and respect for his elders especially towards his mother. That says a lot about his character with all the success he's attained from his profession. This guy knows how to look back, he doesn't turn away from his past. A family guy through and true.
J Balvin's house slaps!! Honestly, among all celebs houses featured in AD, I will choose to love in this house... When he said I didn't build a house to impress but for my soul to rest, THAT IS TRUE!!
i love that he doesnt over exaggerate his home, yes he has a couple of guest rooms but he doesnt have unecessary things in his home. the japanese style keeps it simplistic and humble. the whole house seems quiet and reserved
The whole house is hyper minimalist and then his closet is the actual other extreme
balance
Lol, he pays for what he truly love
i feel so calm after seen his house and listening to his voice. The house is goals. Totally worth it compared to the fancy homes other people have. Best house i ever saw in Open Door AD
it is extremely fancy though
When he said that he would get grounded if he said how many pairs of shoes he had😂 that got mee😭
I am so happy that knowing him and so many people from another countries are attracted by Japanese culture

J Balvin is one of the most relatable and humble people I've ever seen
"Why do you need a TV when you have this view."
Me: He's not wrong.
But can you watch a movie or play ps5 on that view? I don't think so
@@armandogalindo7412 that would be why theres tvs in the other rooms. You can watch movies and play games anywhere. that view is one of a kind and incredible.
I love his vibe. I know everyone is here to impress but he’s just impressive and he lets you do whatever you want with it. I’m here for it.
Honestly I didn’t not expect this but I think we’ve all established that 2020 is full of surprises lmao
ok....
J balvin and Dakota Johnson house are the best house that was shown in AD for me.
HEY SAME!!! I JUST SHARED MY OPINIONS ON FB. HAHAHHA
True
I like the bamboo surrounds Dakota's house.
Sadly Dakota didn't show that much :(. But I love how she bragged about her grand mother's tiger
Totally agree
Saaameeeeeeee
You can tell that Balvin is on his spiritual path " I'm not trying to impress no one" simple, modest, minimalist.
Much respect to him for that. I thought he would be all about the wild, flashy lifestyle based on his music, but it’s cool to know he’s humble and chill like this. Good for him.
Hes so soft spoken. He sounds and walk like what a very nice would definitely be like.
J Balvin: This house is a work of art, that’s why I don’t have art in the house.
What a guy 💯
I like how he has adopted a minimalist approach to his home. When he goes home, he is not overwhelmed with stuff. Having too much ‘stuff’ can be like a prison, and can steal your peace of mind. Good for him ! 😊 Amazing home for sure.
did you see all the motorcycles?
J Balvin: Films himself on iPhone
Also J Balvin: Has a professional camera man following him
It’s just another guy with an iPhone. You can see him a couple times in the video.
It seems to me that he is on a videocall with someone else, maybe the AD guy in charge of the video.
Corona Vibes
Ikr😅😂😂
What do you mean? This is AD’s Channel.
Japanese and Brazilian architecture are my favourites. Love how they create spaces that celebrate nature and bring tranquility to person. J Balvin's house is tastefully done, respecting Japanese culture. Has such a peaceful vibe.
Wtf is Brazilian architecture ?

I am the only one who is really surprised that this is his house? I would have guessed it would be flashy, busy, over the top. But this house is really classy. What a surprise!
I'm so shocked, I really love it
