Digging post holes and setting fence posts is the worst. I'm a 70-year-old woman, and it's impossible. Why can't they make 20- pound bags of concrete? What works for me in that regard is expensive at the moment, but I have to do it. I can hammer a steel Simpson strong tie 4 x 4 EZ spike into the ground with a sledgehammer and then screw the post in at the base. I put about 2 feet of a post into it to apply the hammer. You don't have to lift the hammer very much, just about a foot. But they are running about $35 each right now.

It's really good to get a video from you Mark. I'm surprised with how bent that frisbee disk is, that it flew in a straight line lol.

Advertise on WWOOF, or similar. Elements of every farm are organic, even if not fully. Stick a trailer/caravan on your land somewhere for volunteers to stay in while they help out. Plenty of people looking for educational experience/ skills exchange worldwide. Hamish and your doggo are beautiful. Best of luck!

When organizing cowhair, you should prepare a plastic bag in advance and then put the hairs on the ground in it. That way, the cows don't chew their own fur when they're grazing.❤

Hey, Marc, great to see you!
You make me laugh, because when you take a moments down time, you go over your To Do list!😂 Hard habit to break, isn't it?
So sorry your back has been getting worse. I can really relate to that. I know the pain carries with it its own fatigue and stress, making the pain worse, which stresses you out, and makes you feel tired, and it goes in a big circle.
Seeing things that you used to manage by yourself, needing to be done, when you can't buy help at any price, adds more stress.
We have nobody willing to work around here either. It's so contrary to the way we were brought up, that it's baffling. The positive side is, when you find someone with skills and a good work ethic, it' actually a pleasure!
Well, i can't do anything to help with all that, except commiserate, but maybe having a friend who understands what you're going through, and is praying for you and wishing you well, makes your burdens a little lighter.
So glad y'all will get to see your daughter soon. Hope you have a great time!

I know this doesn't mean a lot to some, but... sent up an earnest prayer for your needs. Thank you for doing the best you can taking care of these guys as long as you have. It's sad but, I suspect a lot of people in their old age reach the point where they just can't. We can only hope if it comes to that you can find them a good home with some younger folks who can carry on. We know you're doing the best you can, though, and that's all you can do.

Good to see another video from you. Does your dog understand German? I heard you tell her no in German. If so, that’s amazing.

    • @HamishandKyloe
      @HamishandKyloe  Месяц назад +4

Yes, her commands are a mixture of German and Czech, but the truth is, dogs don’t understand the difference in languages… so I could use random words like “coffee pot” or “toilet bowl” for commands and as long as I use them consistently, they would mean the same thing to her as “nein” or “platz”.

Do you treat or medicate for deer ticks? I'd just assume these guys would be tageted by those nasty suckers without prevention.
Hamish is loving the grooming. Must be alot of grooming to keep on top of before it tagles too bad?
These cattle were all around my Grandmother's cottage when I was young. Peaceful sweet beauties, however there was one very unfortunate incident involving a very young child and a cow who had a young calf. It didn't end well for any of them. Someone wasn't looking after the 3 yearold properly and the free roaming cow (with calf) reacted atypically.
Thankfully, the villeage all around understood this was an anomaly, and it never came to any conflict.
And any city folk who may have been oblivious to how to show respect for animals with new borns in spring, or how to look after their own young, got a severe reality check.
Besides that one cow, I never heard of any of these guys being reactive or anything but gentle or shy even. That one cow hadn't grown up on that land. Very unfortunate, but it can happen when people don't know how to behave around any animal.
Hope your big buddy isn't in pain anymore. ❤
