Hiii I'm a balletmet dancer as well and doing zoom classes again sucks but hang in there! I've done audition videos twice or 2 years in the past for summer intensives and their a real pain but it's interesting to look back at them and realize how far you've come and have accomplished! Hoping for the best for you and your dance journey!!
hey girl!! ikr zoom sucks SO bad but I'm glad bmet gave the teachers the proper tools to teach us online. also yes omg when I watch my video from last year, I can see that I've improved and that I'm getting better which is pretty motivating ngl haha. hey rianna! i just have a quick question for you and wanted to hear your opinion. so, i've always loved ballet but took a break from it because i wanted to explore my other interests but now i'm back. i haven't been this content and experiencing child like joy in years and i can't imagine not doing. but at the same time i really want to go to college, study abroad, and own a marketing firm. but when i think about pursuing ballet, i feel as though it'll be a short depressing career and i'll regret not going to college. but when i think of attending a university, i feel as though i'll never be happy again and regret not pursuing ballet. do you have any advice for my dilemma? thank you! love your videos!
Hey! Sorry I took so long to reply, I hope I'm not too late! I was just in your same situation last year when I was in my senior year of high school. I wanted to have the normal college experience, but I was afraid that college would slow me down in getting hired as a professional dancer. My thinking was that I can go back to school anytime, but I cannot dance forever. That's why I decided to become a trainee, and if I get hired into a ballet company, then I will do school part-time. If dance doesn't end up working out, my backup plan is to go back to school to get a nursing degree! You can always double major in dance and your other passion, it will just take a bit of time management. A piece of advice I took from Kathryn Morgan is if you're not sure if you wanna pursue dance professionally, try it for a year. If you end up loving it, stay, and if you end up realizing this career isn't for you. then you still have time to go back to school and have that college experience! I'm assuming you're a senior in high school or somewhere around there which means you're young and you have so much time to figure out your true passions. Sorry this is so long haha but I hope this helped and you can ask me for advice any time ❤

IF YOU TAKE BALLET PLEASE READ THIS I NEED HELP!!!
I have been on pointe for 2 years and we are practicing turn on pointe and I can do the turn on my left like perfect. But I usually do everything on my right. Meaning my left foot is weaker than my right foot. So when I do turns on my right my left foot has to go on reléve. I have tried exercises for that foot but it is not working. I am so frustrated!!!! Please help me with tips for better turns and how to get my feet back to the same strength.☺️
Hi! Turns are my absolute weakness as a dancer (especially to the left) so I totally get you. I used to be one of the weaker people when I first got on pointe, but what got me ahead is extra cross training at home. I recommend Kathryn Morgan's videos, she has TONS of videos for strength building and also technique tip videos. I also recommend using a theraband to build strength in your feet. Since your left foot is weaker, you should do more repetitions on your left foot than on your right. Simple releves and eleves on both legs and one leg each can also help a ton (do them turned out and turned in). Turning is also about balance so you can also hold your passe and try to balance for as long as you can. You can also try breaking the pirouette up into parts. First just do the prep (just a releve to a passe balance then come down), then do quarter turns. then half turns, and then full turns (Kathryn does it in this video - ruclips.net/video/DE570ecHmSw/видео.html) I will link my favorite strength building exercises here!

Aw thank you for checking in! I took a few days off and it's better than before. But I took class again yesterday and I wasn't able to do a lot of releves, put on my pointe shoes, or jump 😭 idk what is wrong with it but I hope I can be 100% by new years!
my only critique is find a way to mute or lower the volume during your landings. ballet is supposed to be graceful. you're not supposed to hear stomping
