Some of the WWII stories from Poland are something out of a fever dream. I bet Wojtek was a massive moral boost for the troops and the people alike during a critical time.
I’m sure he was. So like most “heroes” the stories were exaggerated into stupidity. A cigarette smoking bear they helped the boys carry ammo crates. GTFO.
Don't be mistaken, Emus are not the ones being protected,
They are the one protecting Australia
Australia has never been successfully invaded since it was founded.
Checkmate, anti-emu imperialists.
The real reason as to why all the cities are located on the Australian coast is because that’s as far as the Emus have allowed them to settle in.
Any further and then there will be trouble.
The Emus are like great beasts of myth, you go up to them, prepared to be b***h slapped with claws as sharp as knives.
Oh and the fact that they can shrug off bullets
This is why Australians don't need to own guns. SHAME SHAME
The real question is How did that emu get stuck in the steering wheel? 🤔
10:01 "Oh my, look at all this delicious wheat that just so happens to be growing here in large quantities. Hey guys, get a load of this!"
"Hey farmer Bruce, where did you find that hat? The toilet?"
Nice😂
“We run away”
@@mr.gameandwatchandredman7976 "sir, you're genius!"
The Emu is now on their coat of arms...they were victorious.
No Aborigines on the emblem...
Me: “They’re flightless birds! How hard could it be to figh-“
Australians: “You weren’t there!”
*aussies in the corner crying as emus run circles around them*
@@hamishanders8508 *T-posing
It was really a dumb way to confront them. It was a waste of ammunition. As any hunter can tell you, most animals know you're there before they see you. A better tactic would have been to use long-range rifles picking a few off at a time, follow them, and pick off more when they settle.
😂😂😂
I think that in the centuries to come people will debate whether the ammo-carrying bear and his exploits ever existed. He's just too cool.
🐻 🇵🇱
The fact that they found him as a cub, he was raised by the men and surely considered them as his elder brothers or something, just copying what they were doing. There is also real pictures of the bear in the army if you google it.
I just bought the game Iron Harvest on steam, one of the units you can command is a bear that carries medical supplies named Wojtek. When listening to this video and heard they named it, I jokingly said wojtek then spit out my drink when I was right
Good game, great artwork.
That's where the Inspiration came from.
Such a shame that paradox ruins the game with every update
@@harmlessratz7151 That would be Hearts of Iron. Iron Harvest is an Alt History RTS in the vein of Company of Heroes, with giant steampunk mechs.
Since it's polish game, from polish "universe", it's not so strange. :)

*In the same way “Walk Hard” mocked music biopics* we need an “Emu War” movie that mocks war movies… the main character has a “Girl Back Home” but has nightmares that he comes home to the ranch and sees his wife left him for an Emu.. the whole movie is ridiculous but takes itself seriously like it’s Oscar Bait
This sounds like an absolute banger of a movie. If any oil barons are in this comment section, toss this man a couple million for the movie.
Look up "1932: The Great Emu War"
There is something similar here on RUclips. Look up Emu War. It's around an hour I think.
That'd be pretty funny
Well I'd leave him too if an emu wants you to go somewhere you don't disagree. There's a reason they won against people with guns, vehicles.
Im from Poland we learn abaut wojtek in history textbooks here.
He is a national hero ans even has a monument in one city.
Amazing
This is what it truly mean to not mess with Mother Nature, even if you are in the military.
Doubt
I never really understood this saying. Humans are part of nature, we aren't aliens. Everything is nature. There is no "not messing with it". I can appreciate it trying to say "don't tempt things far more powerful than yourself" but that goes for everything. Whether it's a giant salt water crocodile or heavy machinery. So saying "don't mess with mother nature" doesn't really mean anything lol. It just boils down to "don't be stupid".

I am a trained RN (Registered Nurse) and in 18+ years of Nursing the last 12 of which were on a respiratory care unit, I can safely say that I have used NONE of the "plague cures" mentioned in this video. Nor was I even taught them in nursing school. And now, I feel strangely let down by that!
I think it’s because they used different cures in those times
Stupid health system not bold enough to use plague doctors again.
I’ve been in nursing for 35 years I’m a DNP and still haven’t used any of those cures. I do have a masters in medical history studying the Black Death ☠️.
We have technological advancment and know a lot about medicine and diseases unlike before.
The old practices are out dated so to say.
I almost kind of wish salt water crocs were part of that swamp level in CoD:WaW. It probably would've sucked as much as the CoD:Ghosts sharks... but it's kind of a cool idea.

I will only say two things:

The story of Winnie the Poo is similar. A Canadian soldier going to fight in World War I bought a bear cub in Winnepeg, Manitoba, and went to Europe in 1915. She didn't go to France but was put in the London Zoo where she was visited by A.A. Milne, and his son, Christopher Robin, and became the inspiration for the litary character Winnie the Poo.

Some people are rational and capable of deciding for themselves if they want to take a risk.
In the beginning of the Wizard of Oz, there's a brief panic when Dorothy falls into the pigsty. When I first saw the scene as a child, I thought the reason was that she was likely to be trampled. It wasn't until I was watching Hannibal with my father years later, and we got to the scene where Hannibal is about to fed to wild boars, that he explained the *real* threat to me.
It never really clicked for me until I watched Deadwood. Mr. Wu's pigs are basically the town morticians.
You forgot the part of the story for voytec the bear, the ex service men would routinely be caught sneaking into his zoo den to drink beer with him
I loved it how he described the Japanese soldier like am animal

"What I remember about the rise of the Great Emu Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Emu Wars, the Emu Legion was discreetly transferred back to Sydney. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private, traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Sydney, not when the order came down, and not when we marched into the Opera House. Not a word."

This video was two stories about animals in war, and after that, it turned into bubonic plague stories. The last story was most interesting.

Emu an Australian war is perhaps one if my most favorite wars. Simple due to how hilarious it was.
The Emu War would have been more successful for the soldiers if they used pump action shotguns. They have more spread than machine guns.
For the dancing mania, most likely, it was tainted water/booze which went hand in hand. I would not doubt if the church did it.

The Crocs really said "MY TURF!"
My great uncle had a son that was eaten by pigs. They figured he slipped while kicking away the hogs so the piglets could get to the trough and knocked himself out.
How to piss off a Australian.

the thing with the "emu war" was that it was just a few men against birds
if they wanted round 2, im sure we'd send in a few more lads
When you combine history and zoology together...
I heard of this guy who went to the place where all those soldiers were eaten by crocs and while he was there a kid got attacked by a croc. He found out that the croc that had attacked the kid was 100 years old so that croc probably ate Soldiers in ww2.
Mother nature is one thing you don't want to mess with because eventually it will bite you back examples like Vietnam show that it is best to use nature to your advantage rather than fight it
