  • This new helldivers 2 update is the BIGGEST update we've had so far. The Patch from Mr. Pilestedt and the team is a HUGE step in the right direction but what could they do to continue to improve? Massive assault rifle buffs, liberator, tenderizer, machine guns, strafing run, orbital gatling barrage, spear, and so much more on the cards!
    The spear feels super snappy and I've been really surprised by the way Assault Rifles feel now.
    The New Warbond is a different story... we need to talk Viper Commandos!

    Yeah they stated that Spear lost its ability to lock-on fabricators, but they've also said that "this is not intended and will be fixed in the future"

      Agreed. Gunships are the bane of my existence and the spear excels at deleting them. But losing the ability to snipe fabricators and cannon towers hurts

      @@danielfournier6240 I've been pretty happy using an auto cannon against those myself. Sure it takes 4 shots but a squad I joined had let 10 of the things stack up and I cleared them out. Been pretty happy with the auto cannon for anything bots really.

    I feel like Cutting edge is all around amazing.
    Stuns amazing , booster great, plasma punisher amazing , blitzer great, sickle great...the only bad part is the armor 😅

      Steeled veterans is competitive also. Dominator, revolver, incendiary shotgun. Almost all weapons it offers are s tier

    The Spear is amazing now. You can also gain lock on while reloading so you can fire as soon as the new shell is ready.

    Also, The Skreiker nests and Fog Shrooms.. the Strafe Start can now destroy them. or the Orbit Gatling.

      Barrage could always do it, but could fail like 1/4 times. I always took it instead of Eagle Strike vs bugs.

      The adjudicator having nearly double its damage capacity is just criminal, considering the adjudicator also doesn't feel that good.

    The spear and Drop ships.. they need to remove the under/center part of Drop ships from being targetable and move that to the 4 thrusters. that way the Spear can kill drop ships. It OHKs air ships already so make so sense why it cant kill drop ships.

    I'm a bit disappointed to see that the ARC Thrower and Railgun did not get touched. I also think the new Liberator as well as original were underwhelming. Rocket Pods and Gattling Barrage did feel better but were too inconsistent (the barrage needs to be even dense to be reliable I think and the Rockets just either need more punch or better AoE). Purifier also just felt underwhelming for such a charge weapon and I still so want the shrapnel in some form to come back to the Eruptor as shrapnel weapons are just cool. Another disappointment was no changes to the Breaker and Breaker Spray and Pray to help them catch up to their op incendiary brother (which probably deserves a light nerf imo).
    Still a good patch overall, but there is so much more in the game that still needs some love, even if it's just slight tweaks.

      I agree - with regard to the gat barrage, needs to have more projectiles so we get more consistent hits!
      I think they will make passes on different weapon families as time progresses - this makes sense because if they change too much at once they can make a real mess!

    I want them to come out with a laser turret. It uses the laser cannon stratagem, and it's like the guard dog Rover in the sense of no overheat.

    With this new warbond my junky build has made me into a god. Light medic armor + experimental injection + supply pack. I am zooming around the map like a cat on catnip, dont die to anything and i dont run out of stims😂😂

    Obviously this is just my opinion. I found something to like about every warbond so far, with the caveat that I have not unlocked the viper commandos yet.
    One thing about the warbonds is they offer a large variety of weapons and other items. Personally I switch up weapons and loadouts frequently, sometimes every match.

      ​@PhaseShifter The shotgun is awesome. Have you tried the new AR on other fire modes besides full auto? I didn't like it on auto as it was too hard to be accurate consistently but I love it on burst fire. It's easier to control and it can fire just about as fast as full auto if you need it to.

    I love the new warbond. I think the shift to fewer weapons and more cosmetics is a great idea. Looking cool and how you want to is a great way to add to the fantasy of the game and less weapons means we get weapons that feel unique and different. I don't mind if the weapon isn't a powerhouse, just let it function as advertised (cough tenderizer cough) and let it be unique and different from the other weapons. 8.5/10 warbond imo

    I think one big thing needed is to reduce the durability of berserkers because my god, they are tanky. even trying to hit the same body part, they take so much damage.

      the one good thing from this new warbond is i find the bushwacker to be very useful against a line of berserkers rushing you

      I kind of like how tanky they are, especially since they are mostly unarmored and anything can hurt them. Some weapons are a lot better at killing them and it offers an incentive to bring those weapons to bots. Just for example, Grenade launcher can take out whole groups of them extremely fast, and one slightly overcharged railgun shot to the waist can cut them in half as well (the round also overpenetrates and can destroy multiple if they're lined up).

      Keep in mind, I don't mean to nerf them into the ground or be super weak, but at the very least, take 1/4 out of their healthpools. They are not fun to fight, even if some weapons are better than some against them I do not believe it excuses them being a slow in the games decent speed kinda throws me out of the flow zone.

    The spear damage is a tad inconsistent due to the fact that it aims toward center of mass and you cannot force it to hit a weak point.
    But it is so goated now. Once it regains fabricator targeting, it'll be so perfect for that recon playstyle.

    Tried out basically everything they changed. I was very impressed, except with the purifier, which still feels like the worst weapon in the game and by a large margin

      @@PhaseShifter a lot of the update was finding niches for things that didn’t have them before. I don’t think they could give purifier a niche because it’s a fundamentally flawed concept. It’s a heavier version of the scorcher, which makes sense until you realize that base scorcher is already one of the heaviest weapons in the game, with great matchups against most high tier enemies like tanks, hulks, and bile titans

      I love the purifier! It is a niche weapon and takes temperament to play.. the buff made it even better for me!
      It is not a run and gun.. it is mid to long distance weapon..

    I'm so far Insanely happy with the patch and the warbond.
    New assault rifle is ok, can still shine when bursting while crouched and feels really good to shoot if you enjoy wild high recoill weapons. All the changes are awesome and the new booster absolutely slaps

    If this game lasts more than two years, and the devs put three new primaries in the game every month, that's the 25-odd primaries we have now, plus (backdating the start of our two years to game launch) three times 18 (rounding off because math and my coffee's not kicked in yet) is 54 more guns, at the end of two years - February 2026, you will have 79 primary weapons to choose from prior to drop. Primary weapons alone. Even for a PvE game, that's a nightmare on many levels, and this is just for the primary weapons.
    I know a new primary is exciting, but if you want the devs to rush them to you on a conveyor belt, be careful. You might get what you're asking for.

      I definitely agree with you in terms of the patch cadence and committing to loads of new weapons..needs to be in the sweet spot. I hadn't even considered what it would like in 2 years!

    Great video! Earned a sub ;) also I saw someone else mention this, but I've noticed it as well. Since the changes, there are now HORDES of berserkers and they are so tanky. It almost forces you to run the MG/HMG just to take them out before getting completely overrun. I think slightly tweaking their health would help out a bit, other than that and some of the other stuff mentioned in the video, I'm loving this update!!

    My experience
    Orbital strikes: amazing
    MG turret: better than Gatling now imo
    Spear: tons of fun
    Assault rifles: feel strong
    Eruptor: bring back shrapnel
    Crossbow: eh
    Haven't tried rocket turrets, HMG, or eagle rockets yet. Curious how those are.

    Good takes. Missed opportunity not being able to melee or pick up the throwing knives. Cutting edge is probably the only post launch warbond that has a decent amount of value (after the punisher plasma and blitzer buffs). I'm not hating the purifier after the recent patch. It's niche but I wouldn't be surprised if it sees success in new builds.

    I think the medium MG orbital precision buffs are huge because they buff level 1 helldivers. When I first played I played bots and the liberator felt like a dollar store nerf gun against even raiders. Skill issue yes, but it feels bad to miss with your only orbital and to die upon most static reloads of your MG. Skill issue for sure but these buffs would have helped me get to a diligence and autocannon which were my first feelings of being able to trade blows with the automatons on even footing. Also, spear looks incredibly fun now. If you can count your ammo on one hand it needs to kill reliably like in the vid.

      Dude that is such a great point I love all of the orbital buffs and mg buffs. They may be lower level stratagems but I now use them all the time. Again great point man I hope arrowhead buffs more lesser known stratagems.

    I still think there's a lot of things that need love. The assault rifles feel better, but I still feel like they need a little bit more. I think the standard breaker shotgun needs to be brought back to its original state. The eruptor needs to be brought back to its original state. The standard incendiary grenade and high explosive grenade need to have their stats changed because they are identical to the impact grenades. The orbital rail canon cooldown needs to be reduced by at least 60 seconds. The orbital laser canon needs a damage buff. The orbital gas strike needs a damage buff and increased aoe. The arc Blitzer needs to have an increased fire rate. Both the Blitzer and the arc thrower need to have better damage against the bots. The orbital walking barrage needs to have a shorter cool down compared to the 120 mm and 380 mm because right now nobody is using it. The emancipator needs to be doing the full amount of durable damage (260). Both of the mechs need more ammo. and the throwing knives are just atrocious. At the very least they need to have the option to be used as melee weapons and should be able to be picked back up if thrown.

    I know they buffed a lot of the assault rifles but they still aren't to par with the meta guns that have been used consistently against bots and bugs. For example even the new assault rifle in the war bond is basically no better than the knight submachine gun you get when you pay for the super civilian pack. The knight submachine gun has less recoil and a bigger magazine. Yes the damage is less but only by 10 points and you can carry this submachine gun in one hand compared to the assault rifle. Makes it nice for you that you can use it with a ballistic shield or even when you were carrying those SSD packages. Honestly all the submachine guns are still basically better than the new assualt rifle still. However probably the biggest gripe I have is that they want us to use more weapons in different strategies but the gunship patrols make it so you have to use a certain weapons that can take them down otherwise you'll get overrun and there's no way to deal with them. Like it automatically cuts out you taking shotguns, assault rifles, and submachine guns since none of those can take down on the attack gunships or if you do bring one of those in you have to take a support weapon that can at least damage the gunships like the autocannon or one of the rocket launchers. Just really annoying that they talked about wanting us to use different loadouts and different weapons but yet Force us to use certain weapons in loadout still to deal with the armored enemies because none of the buffs that they gave the assault rifles or any of the other weapons really help fight those enemies still. Don't get me wrong I'm glad that they are going in the right direction and I love the hell out of this game I just wish that they would actually make the weapons still more viable than they have been.

      You will need to try the Liberator then. AR damage increase to durable parts makes all the difference. You can easily shoot off guns and devastators' rocket pod. Tenderiser can take off Brood's head in like 8 hits. I would say AR is objectively better than SMG like Defender and fire rate actually do something now.

      Well, honestly, I think you’re kind of missing the point of the game a bit. You’re supposed to have to make a choice on what gear you’re bringing, and what gear your friends are bringing. You’re supposed to understand team composition, what threats there are, and change your play style accordingly.
      You’re never going to get one gun that does everything you want it to well, that kind of defeats the whole point really.

      @@seanheller3335 I completely agree and understand that. However, none of the ARs are going to be better to bring in than the scorcher, plasma launcher, or jar 5 against bots. Or the incendiary shotgun, Blitzer, or the sickle against bugs. If you actually want to support your teammates you would take one of those over the ARs. I'm not saying I want the ARs to be the most op guns and best thing to take. I would just like one of them to excel enough it becomes a good contender to take in against the bots or the bugs. Again, I know they do okay, but they don't give me a good enough reason to use the AR over the other guns I mentioned. I still use other weapons because it keeps it fun to play but that is just what I have noticed from playing for a long time.

    I think the Purifier needs to have charge levels. Something like 1 sec is 100% damage, 3 secs %150 and 5 secs %200 damage increase. I also don't like how they put the medium peak physic armor as a super store item and not in the warbond.

      There's plenty of channels that jumped on Helldivers 2 content, that talk about updates without adding anything substantial or personal, so it's nice to hear from someone who forms his own opinion while also respecting the audiences time and attention.

    I like that now I don't feel like I made a mistake taking any weapon now. Purifier still needs more tuning but definitely the dial was turned in the right direction.

    Just treat the warbond as buying variety than buying fire power.
    Balancing wise, I am more on the making the game challenging camp. EDF is the game that tune everything to 11 and still fairly challenging, but that is a totally different type of game.
    For a game that is more grounded, I would prefer them to make wrapon great at something, average on most situation and have it's limitation. AR got this fixed this patch with the durable parts damage buff, it is at least usable for bots mission. Other than that they should just let players find a solution to the weapon.
    The game was easy, and now it is just a walk in the park, and I mostly uses AR. They need to give personality to some weapons, but we don't really need more significant buff.

      I agree re: difficulty. I did cover this in a previous video. I feel like there needs to be more content for us to play aside from the regular dives that also enables us to crank challenge. Kind of like a deep dive vibes from DRG or mini bosses with mechanics etc!

    I don't like this warbond mainly because there is only 1 primary, and it's a primary that is exactly on the same level of the gun you start with at the begining of the game, I don't think this game should be pay to win, but your weapons should go above the bar of the begining of the game. I like the idea of a fast shooting assault rifle, but it needs something a little extra to be an enjoyable weapon to use on higher difficulties. The shotgun and throwing knives are neat ideas, but I feel like the warbond needed something a little extra to make it enticing for me. Personally when I get the supercredits I think I'm passing on this one.
    On another note, I'd like to see warbonds with 4 pages on them, I think they have tons of assets in game that they can simply recolor to pad out these warbonds, If they go back to 3 weapons and 1 grenade, you can have 1 of each on each page, then heaps of capes armors and reskins, having 4 pages means that unlocking would take longer, and give players things to work toward every month. where as right now people have 100% unlocks within 1-2 days.

      I agree with everything you've said here... it's about making the content of a warbond consistently better! Whilst there are always standouts from each one, there's just a lot left to be desired! Thanks for the comment :)

      I think of this gun as the Pulse rifle from Aliens. Put it on Burst and its great at distance and accuracy IMO. Then when needed, full auto up close. I like it.

      Yeah the new AR is not very unique, and that is something that hurts it even more. How about giving it some dual/taped mags so that every other reload is twice as fast? Small little unique features for weapons can go a long way in making weapons feel better IMO.

      If not standard damage the new AR should have extra durable damage to play into its role of rapidly spraying down large targets.
      As it is now, I think standard liberator is better. The recoil is just too high on the other one.

    I like the new warbond! New AR is ok, wont be my main. Pistol is fun and armour is nice. I prefer fewer good things than more unappealing items

    9:13 The Democratic Demolition warbond with the balance it had on release did have that wow factor. Made the subsequent nerfs really feel like a bait and switch. I think that really contributed to the negativity hanging over the community over the last month or so.

    The spear is so much better now! The only issue im running into is that I blow through ammo so quickly because I can fire it off so much quicker 😂

    I agree wholeheartedly, PVE let us as players Destroy stuff. Crank it all the way up to 11. Please don't nerf us at all is not necessary and feels personal every time... I get effective and good with my set up.... here come the devs with more crap....

    the Remixing towards more lighter and medium enemies instead of huge laods of armor does make things more fun.
    but I'm still kind of sad how Buggy the Game still is.
    I also like how Viper Commandos is going towards more cosmetic and sidegrades Instead of the "NEWEST AND BEST DLC GUNS"
    Swedish Summer break is coming, so be patient.

    All things considered once they fix the new armor passive this warbond is a lot better than the last few at least, apart from the AR im loving the new mini shotty and throwing knives

    I didnt really feel like the strafing run needed a damage buff, i want like 6 or 7 of them and it can be my low power spam option.
    Just have a bunch of small Surgical strikes

    I'm glad the Tenderizer has been significantly improved.
    However, most AR changes, and Diligence changes are mostly irrelevant. It at least makes shriekers easier to snipe, but that's the biggest buff. Half mag on liberator to decap brood commanders and still not kill isn't that wonderful. ARs needed a general damage buff to meet better breakpoints or just have bigger mags. ARs should be better at light sweeping if they were going to buff it. Haven't tested purifier and eruptor.
    Anti personal mines maybe will kill spewers now? Not sure. Incendiary mines can now instantly kill hunters. And rocket pods seems decent enough to consistently help with finishing off BTs if destroying the sacks. Hard to fit if in if running a 120/380 barrage for objectives though.
    I also miss my diligence scope, and the center dots on scopes. At least it's an overall improvement, even if the dots I'm missing.

    On the automaton front there is two major issues, Heavy devastators WILL KILL you in seconds and the Eradicate missions for them may as well be deemed literally impossible unless you only bring barrages and all of Lockheed Martin to clear the entire board, no support weapons since you WILL lose them.

    Personally love durable damage being increased with machine guns / assault rifles and the underused stratagem buffs.
    Disappointed about the new Warbond, especially as it had less weapons and i think mobility players like myself are starving: Jump pack needs a buff and the dark fluid stratagem needs to be in the main game.

      @@PhaseShifter I can't complain at all for overall I'm incredibly positive: My stratagem loadout is way more diverse, the game is more dynamic and I think about what the team has loadout wise as well.
      Mobility focused peeps though have had access to the dark fluid jump pack and have had to go back to the original jump pack, I was sure we would get a minor jump pack buff (just a few seconds off the cooldown would be enough)

    The spear feels super good for bugs, because it can one tap Chargers and bile tightens because they have big heads to hit, so it makes it pretty easy which is good!
    Versus the bots. However, it's really hard to one tap a Hulk because of its tiny faceplate, and sometimes tanks don't get one shot..
    It makes this beer more of a bug weapon than a bot weapon, but I think it would be a great contender for the at weapons, if the lock on simply targeted the weak spot of targets.
    Then they don't have to increase the damage or anything, it will just consistently one shot things that we think it should you know?

      The spear is auto target so the skill comes in by way of proper positioning. Hulk is a one shot on the back. Bile Titan is one shot to the top of face. Tank in one shot to the back grill or strait down on top. Walkers sides and back are one shot. Chargers are one shot to face. Point blank shots on those are extremely difficult as well so distancing matters. Makes it more interesting than, aim in general direction, pull trigger, thing dies. Still trying to get an AT-AT one shot…gotta get it to fire into the under bay maybe

      @@bryansmith2859 for sure! But in combat, it's very difficult to hit a Hulk in the back, a factory Strider in the sides when they're always facing you, etc.
      The spear may be auto targeting, but it doesn't Target the weak spots, which makes targeting the one-shotable areas, annoying.
      I just wish the spear targeted weak spots, like the Hulk faceplate, the engines on ships, etc. instead of just aiming center Mass.
      The fact that you only get four shots, Even if all four shots one shot things, it would still be an okay weapon at best considering how much armor comes towards you Right?
      The auto lock on is a double-edged sword, It allows you to fire and forget, but it also rarely hits the place you want it to.

    With the MO being bots, after the patch the game is much harder. There's just so many enemies and not a lot of firepower to deal with them all. (Imo they need to take away all the nurfs and then we can deal with the enemy buffs.) Play a bot mission and be prepared to die a lot on 5 or 6. With a shield and heavy armor i turn corners and get 1 shot dead (or flung across the ground and then shot dead before I can get back up). It's much harder. So now I have to pick the meta to survive....

    The Strafe Run is a literal Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrttt now. insta kills everything in its path lower than a charger. Bile Spewers hate this thing.

    Things I'm not happy with? The warbonds in general. They haven't been great. At most they've been ok. I don't know what I want out of them otherwise though? I think it's perhaps the size of them. 3 tiers isn't much. There is so little actually there when compared to the original warbond. Perhaps that's why I've not really liked them, even though I've been ok enough with them.
    Mission modifiers are the other thing that I'd really like more work on. There just aren't enough which has been made worse by they've had to remove several. Even if those ones reaaaaally did need removing. Random strategems was hilarious once.

    Stop bullshitting people, the ar are still horrible. If you compare the concussion AR with the concussion SMG then bullet by bullet the smg is still better and it does much more damage per magazine .... the weapon balancing is BAD and AR isnt viable on lvl9 dives and an smg is still better!

    Yeah, the spear is like God to your weapon now like the quasar is completely irrelevant at this point that spear I was sniping bile Titans across the map like we would never run into a single bile Titan unless one just happened to show up out of a bug breach which even that's been patched now that that's sort of a rarity at this point you can literally snipe heavies with this damn thing like it's so ridiculous. And if a battle Titans walking towards you and you're probably like mid to long range, you'll one shot to the face chargers. Same thing, one shot to the face. It's like insane

    Not a fan of them going for a quick fix for the eruptor rather than trying to nerf the shrapnel into a balanced state. Just feels lazy to remove a fun and unique mechanic because they don’t want to spend the time balancing it. The eruptor still feels in a bad state as it seems like the explosion damage doesn’t go through medium pen so 90% of the damage isn’t going through on medium armor mobs. But since the explosion radius is much smaller then before it doesn’t clear as well as just taking something like the incendiary breaker, plasma punisher, or some of the assault rifles due to its long time between shots, long reload time and danger of using at close range.
    So it’s in a weird state where it’s not really good at killing medium to heavy armored targets, it’s not good at clearing large groups in comparison to most weapons and it’s not even good at headshots like other snipers as something is off in that regard too as for some reason it’s unable to one shot headshot the armored bile spewers you would think given it’s damage it would one shot on headshot but it seems like most of the damage is in the explosion so the damage on headshot isn’t high enough with the rest of the damage hitting the armor and on devastators you can one shot headshot a crew of devastators before the eruptor can finish a few off.
    Overall I like the patch but this is a massive disappointment to me as we went from a weapon that rewarded skilled shots and unique interactions (such as the railguning under a factory strider to create a hole in the bottom then shooting through the hole to kill it, look it up was really cool to do) to a weapon that doesn’t feel like it has a place anymore and is just a shadow of its former self.

      Man, the erupter is just not a patch on its former self. I really wish they would just put it back to how it was (minus the suck in thing)
      The thing I miss most is having it as a primary opened up the support slot to much more diverse in terms of it's choices!

    One thing i don't like about AR's in this game is you kinda have to play with them like if you were using a DMR. Whats the point of using a AR when you cant hold the trigger and go BRRRRRR to melt any light unit in front of you. I feel like they all should get a massive magazine size buff. You aint scaring anyone anyways with the light armour pen so let them be horde clearing weapons. The dmg they do is okay so people would still use a MG with more armour pen to kill the tougher enemies or bigger hordes.

    I was really hoping for assault rifles to be fixed. But no. We got some durable damage, but that isn't really very useful considering you are usually shooting smaller enemies right in their face. The weapons need a flat damage increase of 25% or so to be worth using. Either that or they need their reload speeds lowered by a second and spare magazines increased by 25%. Or they need a magazine size increase of 25%. Any of those three things would make assault rifles competitive, but as they are right now, they are far too weak except for the tenderizer.

    Meh.. it's not enough to get me to use weapons that take forever to lock on and guns that constantly need to reload..
    I still think scorcher blitzer sickle are better options and EAT beats all rockets in damage utility and creativity I love dropping the pod on a charger or one shot killing a titan or hulk near instant without waiting for a buggy lock on
    At least infinite grenades still works 😂
    Edit: imo the ARs and MRs still need a massive buff.. but we're in a good spot moving forward as long as they keep updating the game....

    The Pummeler is shit now. Most of the changes were good but the Pummeler was one of my favorite primaries. Dampens my enthusiasm a bit.
    As for the new warbond: I like it. The new AR is fun but needs more ammo. The armor is cool but seems like the passive is broken (increases recoil?).

    What? You want warbonds to offer pay-to-win and power creep, instead of just differences in playstyle? That's a terrible idea. That so many of them are effective sidegrades is one of the best features of H2.
    The orbital gatling and the Eagle strafe are great now: they're actually viable alternatives on par with the airburst and gas strikes. You want them to, what, demolish buildings and bile titans? How could you possibly make them even more "up to 11" powerful, without losing their uniqueness and niche roles?

    Everyone was so hunger and desperate for buffs and change you divers are blinded. This whole update is a step in the right direction but the weapons still suck ass, 2ndary weapons still suck esp the laser pistol, ARs still suck, Crossbow still sucks, Machine gun heavy is okay but still we need bigger mags, armor passives this warbound was the stupidest passives i have ever seen in my entire life. 50% melee damage when we have no melee weapons, a knife that only throws, spending my hard won medals on fking skin shades? And on fking hellpod skin? THAT WE DONT EVEN SEE IN THE LOADING SCREEN??? The skins for medals is a fking spit in the face after the previous warbounds gave us FKING GUNS and Redundant armor (yeah they were mostly shit but still).
