- I've been processing some Kodak Vision 3 film recently for some tests. I needed a reliable way of scanning film without altering the color or the grain, so I decided to make my own DSLR scanning setup. I used my Nikon D810 which captures images at 36mp. The results are better than my flat bed scanner, but the most important thing is that I can control the exposure and the ISO.
Thanks for watching.

The tool I used to measure is a Vernier caliper, not a micrometer. My bad.
Your ingenuity is a thing of beauty and a lot of fun to watch! Keep up the great work!!
Thank you so much for the kind works Mike. I appreciate it.
"I don't mind sharing my concepts and ideas, but I don't share my files" ah okay gracias papa ✌✌
Jaja un pedacito de carton, plastico, una lata de atun o lo que tengan a la mano. La cosa es usar la creatividad mi Cesar. Si tienen impresora ese diseñito lo hacen en 10 minutos ya viendo como e la cosa papa.
That's a great design 👍 simples and perfect.

Super cool ... Well done.
By the way the measuring devise that you are using it isn't a micrometer, it is a caliper/vernier a micrometer is a different type of device.
Ohh noo! I know the difference. Thanks for the heads up!
This is really really cool! I made my first negative scanner years ago......Out of Lego! can you believe it? I just wanted to understand the physics of light etc, before going out and getting a scanner! Very very cool!
I believe you. Legos and Erector parts are powerful tools in the right hands.
Thanks for watching!
Your setup is really simply good but the quality of scans in terms of color and tonal rendition is rather poor in my opinion.
Thanks. I agree, those sample pictures are not the best in terms of color rendition and color. That has more to do with the camera, the lens, exposure and the decisions I took in the editing stage than with the scanning setup in my opinion.
