My dad was celibate during his 2nd marriage. He'd had his 9 children with my mother, and after she died he remarried, but remained deeply in prayer much of those final years. He took care of his wife, but he spent long periods in prayer. He inspired me....
Wow, I am overwhelmed by the powerful messages contained in this sermon. Lack of knowledge about our Catholic Faith could be the reason why many Catholics including me are indifference to our calling/vocation. Three powerful words that are still ringing the bell in my mind after watching the video are: "Chastity, Charity, and Orthodoxy!" Thank you Father for sharing this powerful message. May our risen Lord praised and glorified. Amen!

No where in the Bible does it tells us to perform Hail Marys. When Jesus forgave somebody he never asked them to go perform any Hail Marys. This is a false teaching from the Catholic Church. Religion itself doesn’t save us, we must have faith!

There is a growing number of faithful and orthodox religious orders nowadays. Female congregations under the FSSP and ICK have just established new houses in the Untied States for instance.
Those who find population to be a 'problem' would do well to remember that the Church considers celibacy to be a higher calling than marriage...

Wonderful topic. However, I need to correct this faithful & loyal priest on an important point. At 32:05 he states, " the East, the Byzantine churches, the Russian Orthodox, the Greek Orthodox...those priests can get married."
That is not correct.
This is an EXTREMELY important point in the Eastern churches - married men may become priests, however a priest CAN NEVER get married after ordination. Actually, for the matter of married priests, there is an understanding that should their wife pass away even 1 day after their ordination, they can not marry again.
This is an important distinction to understand, and not just a matter of semantics.

Both points are true, and I don't think the priest left them out intentionally. So many Catholics do not study their faith and I was a bit surprised at one special talk engagement when most of the room had no clue where we 'are' during Mass. Cavalry. But, still ty for clarifying this med4kmd. God bless.

I became celibate after I had stood on the ground God walks upon( Ex 24.10). I didn't know what was happening initially but all became clearer, eventually.

Sorry to double post, but the funny thing is the whole idea of living alone and spending 99% of your time praying is what I've wanted to do for ages, but unfortunately prayers don't pay bills and I have to work your average 9-5 job to help make ends meet and can't pray as often as I would like to. I sometimes worry, despite deep down knowing it is not true, that my contributions to the Body of Christ and the spread of the Faith will not be looked well upon by Christ because my soul doesn't shine like the moon, to use His analogy.
Sometimes praying 99% of the time can even be sinful, if it means that you are not fulfilling the duties of your state in life. Prayer cannot be a mask for selfishness. If you live in the world, then you must work. St Paul is particularly severe on this point. "If anyone will not work, let him not eat." By being faithful to your duties, by working hard for Christ's sake, and by giving up time that would otherwise be spent watching TV or social media in prayer, you can reach the heights of holiness.
@@gray_mara I think I see where you're coming from. I'm not in a monastery/a priest, so I'm living in the world and need to perform those duties. Sacrificing time I would use for myself (or rather waste) to spend time with God will still please Him regardless.

One of my daily prayers is for priests... they need them greatly. If they are to save Christ' flock, we should be praying to save them. Don't give satan the satisfaction of another priest going to h-e-double-toothpicks. Or anyone... that's just heartbreaking.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, missing some context, etc, but that sounds like he's belittling you for being a paramedic. Did I miss something? Otherwise, great lecture.
Don't think he meant belittling there. A paramedic does save the physical body, but its our priests whom save the soul if the patient accepts.
I really need to hear this because after divorce n a few bfs ltr. Im completely celibate after those disasters since according to RCC i cant remarry so whats the point ???

Talk to your priest. You may be eligible for an annulment. If that is so, that may be a way to be able to marry in the church again.
You’re still married as far as the Church and God is concerned. You’re call now is to pray for your wife and family.
I find his comments that there will be a big restoration in the church in a few years to be very interesting...I believe it will be the opposite. Please God, I will be wrong.
Here is a problem that has to be stated. Traditionalists who are not SSPX have to look into the SSPX more, in order to realize that it is not schismatic. Watch "The Crisis in the Church Series". Then consider that there are Benedictines, Dominicans, Carmelites, Franciscans and others, that are part of the SSPX family. Their convents and monasteries are not in danger of being dissolved, and are excellent possibilities for young vocations.
@awe yea The SSPX is Catholic, with an apparently irregular canonical status. Like I mentioned, if you watch certain episodes of the series, they explain it at length.

It seems like you need information about marriage in the Catholic Church. It's different from civil marriage. The doctrine is VERY clear. The short answer to your question is "yes," and here's why:
The Jews understand that Adam was neither male nor female until the woman was taken from his side. That's when he became male. Ever since then, men and women have sought one another to become a single whole.
What the Jews didn't (and don't) understand is that the marriage is an actual entity, a spiritual creation that arises through the bond of husband and wife. It's a one-time creation.
But there are circumstances that prevent the creation of the marriage. For example, if one party inwardly believes it's ok to leave an unhappy marriage by getting a legal, civil divorce, then that party nulls the marriage before it can be created. It means no marriage takes place. That's only one example. There are many others.
This is why you must be willing to cooperate with the Church instead of just complaining about how hard it is to get an annulment. If you need help to fill out the form, then ask for help! If they ask for money but you don't have it, tell them! You have to be respectful to the people who are helping you. Do not complain about your husband, do not whine, do not be anxious. You do not "get an annulment," you ask the Church Marriage Tribunal to discover if your marriage was valid, or null.

Dell Chica, that "100 question" questionnaire is meant to be difficult. It is an examination of your life since the day you married.
You shouldn't be afraid to answer those questions, as the entire process remains anonymous, but for you and the tribunal. However, this is _supposed_ to be a painful examination of your life, and the choices you have made. Although it is difficult to get through, you will almost certainly discover things about yourself that you may never have considered. By the time you finish, you will be grateful that you took the effort to do so.
You will almost certainly obtain your dissolution of marriage (sadly, because well over 90% of petitions are granted), and _that_ will free you to pursue, in good conscience, a relationship leading to marriage _in the Church_ which *this time* (yes?) will last.
In answer to your question, "Are divorced Catholics allowed to remarry with an annulment?" the answer is an emphatic *Yes* . The whole point of the declaration of nullity is that a Sacramental marriage never took place to begin with. There was some impediment -- coercion, impairment of faculties, lack of form, etcetera, necessary to make a valid contract of matrimony.
FYI: Lots of people have married outside the Church -- Protestants and atheists who later converted, and so forth -- so there is a provision for that. In these cases, the couple needs only to approach the pastor of their parish and apprise him of their situation. These marriages can be "regularized" -- made Sacramental. But you need to follow his advice and procedures. It is not nearly as difficult or complicated as it may sound.

Hard to hear having messed about too much in life to go into religious life.... consecrated life is a tricky one unless you have a good Bishop cos you are under him....
What is single consecrated life (no order) called? How can a man be consecrated as that?
Men cannot become consecrated virgins, the same way that women cannot become priests. Men stand in persona Christi. Women stand as a sign of the Church as the Bride of Christ. As an essentially bridal vocation, men cannot reflect it in the same way. They can join a secular institute or a Third Order or become an oblate or a hermit.
Private vows of chastity can be made by men and women living as single in the world

I've contemplated myself the religious life.. idk Gods Will for me.. I would love to be a preist but idk if that's what He wants.. no I do not want to leave Gods most Holy Mother Church in the hands of blasphemers, heretics and lukewarm christians.. and the church is so divided idk where to turn to.. Lord Jesus Christ please help me to know your Will for me.. And Lord Jesus Christ please open the hearts of those who are falsely guided by the norvus ordo teachings, practices and false devotions like the divine mercy.. that false teaching has been condemned 3 times by 2 separate popes. Once by Pope Pius XII and twice by Pope John XXIII. Divine mercy takes away from our Lords Most Sacred Heart. Can you not see this ? My Lord Jesus Christ I beg of you to open up your Most Sacred Heart to those blinded by the works of the evil one so that they may see the Truth that YOU are and always will be for forever. Divine Mercy is not a false devotion. I strongly suggest you read the Diary of the mystic herself, St. Faustina. It’s very clear to me she reached the heights of perfection on this Earth. Jesus himself told her to write the diary for the “consolation of souls.” St. Faustina was truly Christ’s “Secretary of Mercy”
Her purity of heart for the Lord is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever known. Seems I need to get closer to mother Mary, Lord knows how pure in heart she was!!

Priests used to have children with nuns so when you teach that more will listen
Priests having children in general, let alone with other consecrated people, after taking their vows of celibacy has never at any point been encouraged, celebrated or even allowed slightly whatsoever. That completely breaks the entire vow of celibacy, and while people have broken it, that doesn't mean it should be encouraged.
