    Good afternoon guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to my first drive of the new 2024 Suzuki Swift.

    Suzuki Ecuador needs vehicles with stronger engines, like the K12C or even more powerful options. This is because Ecuador's high altitude, averaging 2750 meters, affects engine performance.

    Hi. I’ve been a very satisfied Swift RS version for three years. My wife uses the automatic and I always use the manual transmission, the RS offers both gear . Very quick indeed. And a great joy when driving on mountainous roads with manual. In Japan , you have the ubiquitous yellow Sport version. And recently, a hybrid version.
    I enjoy every moment behind the wheel . If you look for an inexpensive quick car , it’s definitely one of the best choices.
    With a full tank I easily reach 500 km. Especially, on Highway, it’s not thirsty at all.
    I went on a camping trip , fold down the rear seats , transformed the rear area into a small “ bed”. I love hatchbacks. And like you, I m not a fun of automatic nor EVs.
    Best regards from muggy Japan
    Richard

    Hi...
    May I know the kerb weight of the new Swift 2024 in your country ???
    In India it is 920 Kgs. I feel it is very lighter than my Punto.
    Please reply

      Hello, thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment. In the UK the weight varies on equipment level, but the kerb weight ranges from 949kg to 1,037kg. Hope this helps.

    There are 2 things the swift lacks. 1. Automatic side mirror open/closing. 2) Automatic boot closure. Otherwise I like it 👌

      Hi there, thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. I can understand the door mirrors (although pressing the button isn't exactly an inconvenience) but I think it's a bit too much to expect a car in this class and price point to have an automatic tailgate.
      Off hand I can't think of any superminis that offer that function.

    • @jogreen238
      @jogreen238 18 дней назад +1

      @@CarObsession The side mirrors are an inconvenience to me as you have tohit the buttom before you turn off the engine. You then cant see on coming traffic when you ho to open the door. Its an accident waiting to happen. 🤔

      @@CarObsession Thats not the point. Sizuki look for customer input to make future imorovenents ive given 2 very good suggestions ehich would have made the swift pretty much perfect. Theyve put in heated seats so they could have put them in!.. 😂

    Why has Suzuki pushed its prices up so much and why make the Swift front end look like a lavatory seat. I agree with your comments on the latter Aaron. I suspect you might not agree with me. I dont look at £200 pm, but the whole cost, whole life cost. I think Suzuki are missing a trick.
    And, why, oh why, the Austin Allegro (F1) style steering wheel on what is essentially a city car that requires a lot of manoeuvring? Worse on the superb new Dacia Duster - that has an almost square steering wheel iirc. The world has gone radio rental - felt tip fairies rule supreme?!

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  4 месяца назад +1

      The issue is that ALL car prices have gone up, you need a small fortune to buy a new car nowadays. Thanks for watching 👍🏽.

      @@CarObsession I agree mate, kinda what I was getting at. Less than ten years ago, if one did the research, a SZ4 Swift, with some dealer extras could be purchased new for under £10k. We are now under WEF and CCP rule 'youll own nothing and be happy'. Time to push back. I really don't like most new/modern cars now - and don't get me started on the devil's mineral, lithium (batteries). Great review by you guys though, light weight, fun to drive cars are a rarity, glad to hear Suzuki has not lost the plot completely ✌️💜😊

    Please do the fuel test drive and see how far you can get on a full tank. 500 miles?

    I have the previous model SZ5 Mild Hybrid with 1.0L 3 cyl Boosterjet Engine which has 109bhp. Got to say very underwhelmed by the new model, it just looks like a facelift of my car. Slightly different at the front, and the tail lamps slightly different as well. Interior is almost identical apart from the larger infotainment screen. Overall the car is not that much different. The main disappointment is the engine only delivering a measly 81bhp, don't get me wrong I love my Swift, but to release a new model almost identical with a lesser powered engine that is so much slower is a backwards step by Suzuki.
    BTW having now had a test drive in the new model a few weeks ago I can confirm it is like a snail on valium compared to The 1.0 SZ5 Boosterjet Engine, I was actually shocked at how much slower it was. Again I absolutely love my current Swift as it has everything, but current owners will be massively put off by a ridiculous loss in performance of a so called new model, and many like myself will not purchase this 'clone' of the previous model with a woefully underpowered engine.

      They have got rid of the concealed back door handles (to make it look like a sports 3-door car) and replaced them with ordinary ones. Can't see how that is an improvement A larger infotainment screen is a positive though. Not sure about the two-tone interior.

      Hi there, thanks for watching. It's your opinion of course, but I disagree that it looks almost identical on both the inside and outside.

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  3 месяца назад

      Maybe there was a issue with concealed door handles? Or perhaps it was cheaper just to make the car with conventional door handles. Thanks for watching.

      @@CarObsession As I said I love my Swift but the new one is just so slow compared to The Boosterjet Engine, it's like having your mobile phone now replaced with the one you had about 6 years ago imagine going back to that. The loss of performance in new Swift is the just awful. Great vid and thanks for posting it.
