How I see it - it's a TRUE Suzuki again: goes like hell, consumes a bit more than nothing, has plenty of room and will run forever without any issues.
One of the last cars for smart people (if there are still any). Others go for SUVs
Goes like hell? Lol ok
I had a 2012 Suzuki Swift and I loved it, great to drive, economical and cool looking car and of course ultra reliable! I would pick a Swift everytime over a Polo, Fiesta, Micra etc
Why not fiesta… It’s an excellent driver’s car… And not too much of an issue from this car
@diarmuidlucey7482
The last iteration of the Micra was fantastic, especially to travel in, motorway included. Way better than Polo at the same price. I've driven both as hire cars for extended periods and found myself choosing the Micra every time thereafter. The only other car that was dynamically more refined was the Opel (Vauxhall) Corsa 1.2 turbo but that's not a brand you'd buy.
Suzuki making sensible cars and I've definitely noticed more Swifts on the road recently.
The Sport version is one of the best, if not the best looking vehicle on the road and a truly great piece of kit.
This is exactly what we need, & more of, in the U.S... lightweight extremely efficient gas/hybrids, NOT massive 3 ton plus EVs
On most parts of the US they need decent public transport
No what's the difference with third world countries then
@@ashutosht10 the difference is that in the USA you don't need to pollute your towns and kill kids with 2 tonne gas powered SUVs for no reason. Developed countries have good public transport that everyone wants to use because it's cheap and efficient.
Your right . Really Stupid when i see people with Full Size pickups with not a single thing ever carried on it in years.😅
I just realised your comment is loaded with ignorance.
I saw comments on Bob Flavin's review saying how ugly it is but I think it's still quite a cute thing. Perfect city & first time new car owner imo. Cheap to run at a great price with plenty of tech! Nothing to be negative about I don't think!
Yeah it’s starting to slightly grow on me but still the 5th gen without the two tone looks fab in my eyes compared to this one. This new gen has a very funky Tokyo vibe to it with the sharp angles.
I don't get the 'ugly' comments myself. The nose is a little awkward perhaps but overall it's still alright looking I feel.
@@NobbyOnCars Well, I have an instant tendency to compare it to my 192 Sport or even just the bog standard 5th gen and I think that looks miles better than this one. That’s just me though. I love Suzukis so I’ll probably like it once I see it in person.
I think it's far more than that, it's a perfect car for lots of people, most people really don't need anything bigger, but the motor industry has done a great job of convincing them they do.
@@miklos1298 they nailed that version, really did.
The lack of six gears on this one would put me off more than the looks, which I'm not keen on. But it's serious good value and has everything you need and should have. Deserves to be a success
Still rocking my 2016 Suzuki Swift Sport , fun driving everyday ❤️
Ive been saving up for years now, hopefully it lands at a good price in South Africa.
This one looks more beautiful than the ones we are having on our roads already.
No way, it's definitely going to cost a small fortune
You should consider the Suzuki Baleno as well then. I think it’s available in South Africa.
Yahh @@vishalbirje5575
Great review and a breath of fresh air for small, well priced city cars that we should really go back to...And hybrid is the way to go, not full EV...
Wow I love it. Great value for the money, if it's anything like the previous models, it will be very reliable also. Another great review Nobby 👍.
I bought swift in 2013, still enjoying it. Perfectly designed small car with great pickup. Way ahead than polo, fiesta, micra or brio
I ΄ve been driving a suzuki swift boosterjet 2017+. The best choice i could have made! Very fast, very fan to drive and very easy to maintain...!
Suzuki is excellent value for money
Watched at 1.2x speed & feels good
No doubt its best in class , value of money, fuel efficient unbeatable
Thanks for the fine review!!! The new Swift looks very promising. Nice design inside and out. Fine specs. I am considering switching to this car.
No problem 👍
The previous one was a great, fun looking car, this isnt. However its amazing value, adaptive cruise control and blind spot at that price is fantastic.
If theres any justice these will sell by the bucketload.
Get a glass of wine into you, same colour as the car!
I have a 2017 Swift with 350K on the clock... in Sri Lanka... My folks love this car... They use it everyday... such a good little care.
Suzuki build sensible cars and I've definitely noticed more Swifts on the road.
The Sport version is one of the best, if not the best looking cars and a great piece of kit.
Previous model dashboard and speed indicators were sporty and special. This one is just ordinary design you find in ordinary cars.
Previous gen looked way better design wise in my opinion... This one looks to me like an aftermarket tuning somehow, can't help it.
I test drove it with apprehension. Its was so good to drive. Manual is responsive and its got so many features. Its not a real hybrid but the consumption and real world consumption works. Flaws. Yes. No spare but a full size tyre isnt costly and fits in wheel well. Steel wheels on manual. Manual has no blind spot monitoring but i have eyes. Uses 95 fuel.
Great little cars!
The interior is nice. But the model of the front and rear lights makes people think about buying it... By the way, Swift is not very successful in sales in Indonesia
What a surprise car! Very impressive! Thanks for bringing this on, Nobby 🙌🏻
I collect mine on Tuesday, had a test drive in it and signed on the dotted line. This is my third from new swift and this version is the best yet. More bang for your bucks and I feel this may be a wake up call to the other manufacturers to smarten themselves up and start offering quality deals without the price.
Such a good an honest review in my opinion, looking forward to reading what other folk think.
is this generation better than the one before ? how
@@Bambotb There are only two models now, The Motion and The Ultra. I feel this gives a better cost effective choice regarding spec. The Motion line has the following to name a few.
Heated Seats, Keyless entry / start, 9" screen, Suzuki Connect, E-Call, Blind Spot
Lane assist, driver assist cameras, radar brake etc etc.
TBH, there is a lot more to mention but take note The Ultra line only has another 3-4 things extra like Diamond cut alloys and self returning wing mirrors. The MHEV has been tweaked along with the engine, better soundproofing all round and my fave 6 speakers including tweeters.
Personally I like the curves of the outgoing model but this new one has its own look which comes across clean. I really feel after three other models this one's a winner.
@@Redbuttonmedia interesting yes i didn’t talk about motion vs uktra but 4th gen vs 3rd
Previous Swift 2019 SZ5 owner here. This is a really hard sell. Yes, it has a few more safety features, but to get those I lose around 30hp. I'm not sure it's worth it, especially given that I think the 2019 SZ5 looks better.
I had one in the 80s never let me down like this might have a test drive
Suzuki sell almost 1.75 million cars in india per year..
It's Suzuki's biggest market .
Maruti 👍
I see loads of swifts where I live and I always wondered why then I got a promotion pamphlet from them with a price of 20k and your review is welcome. It is way cheaper than a Jazz. nice colour red too.
This thing has a very good engine and can give you good fuel mileage compared to anything on the road. This thing can go 200k km easily if you take care of it. It is fun to drive and will outperform anything in its segment
My cousin have one of those swift 2024 top model but here the car is totally different I mean interior everything is glossy, shine fit and finished is good , wondering it's a discrimination 😂😂😂 we got cheap swift here in Asian countries
Nice decent value small car
Fantastic little car!
A step up in the interior no doubt a tad more space too, wasn't aware it has a 100hp motor You sure about that? I thought it was a similar output to the old motor.
We bought a SZL lste 2023 and it's a great small car overall though the standard tyres are a wee bit noisy on dome road surfaces agree about the cruise distances wish you could disable the radar sometimes and it doesn't like sleet. Any sign of a heated steering wheel and seat option?
Other than best the market is crying out for more small cars like this.
Whoops - 82bhp! Makes how quick it is even more impressive.
Very Good reviews but i heard it has 80 odd hp and not 100hp as you mentioned. Pls mention about the ride comfort of cars you review since its very important to most car buyers .
I have a 2009 micra sr, 1.6L and 110hp, 5,7L over 100km. Should call it eco?
There is a hot version of the Swift also. She has some great songs and doesn't like Trump....what's not to like! 😂
Oh Gawd.
In proportion of 60% is the same with the previous model, in my opinion this is more a facelift rather than a new model.
LOL...In the USA I had a 1991 Suzuki Swift GTi 1.3 Manual, 101hp, 5-speed. Very fun car to drive
The Suzuki Swift a popular car in Australia we own a Baleno ourselves its a little bit bigger than the Swift and when you mentioned that they have been around for forty years but not in Australia the Swift was available from the early 2000s in Australia they were the Cino and we owned one back in the 1990s l loved driving it so much fun and the Swift has competition from the Toyota Yaris and the Mazda 2 but the Swift holds its own against its competition in Australia we do like our cars reliable and vehicles with good reputations for reliability sell well and that includes Suzuki's infact in the factory were they build the Suzuki's they build the Toyota Starlet which is a rebadged Baleno and we all know about Toyota's excellent reputation for reliability
from 1985 in Australia according to wiki, but Holden badged.
@@stephenarbon2227 Suzuki have sold the Swift continuously in Australia since 1985.
Holden did badge engineer some Suzuki Swifts as the Holden Barina.
The Cino that Les Klower refers to is in fact a Swift.
@@stephenarbon2227 That's right they were the Holden Barina also sold as the Suzuki Cino
I really like value-driven motoring and the previous shape reached a point where the package was not only acceptable but respectable.
The new one continues but the exterior design for me is just weird and awkward. Japanese designs can be like that. Very uncomfortable to look at. Individual parts look great on their own but together just don't flow.
Interior is great. I think this one will be the shape that will slope the sales curve downwards. Time will tell.
They don't make car's like this anymore, so enjoy before it's gone. I am waiting for Sport version.
Not in ireland though
not in the world, they wont do the sport no more
@@tommasomartinoli1468Are you sure?
Just looks like a ford with that grille . No originality anymore
I have the current model SZ5 Mild Hybrid with 1.0L 3 cyl Boosterjet Engine which has 109bhp. Got to say very underwhelmed by the new model, it just looks liKe a facelift of my car. Slightly different at the front, and the tail lamps slightly different as well. Interior is almost identical apart from the larger infotainment screen. Overall the car is not that much different. The main disappointment is the engine only delivering about 90bhp, don't get me wrong I love my Swift, but to release a new model almost identical with a lesser powered engine is a backwards step by Suzuki.
It does shift quite well with the power it has, that much I can confirm.
Thanks, they are emailing me to test drive it when it comes out. I still feel incredibly underwhelmed it really is so similar to my car, the 1.0 Boosterjet Turbo is a great engine. @@NobbyOnCars
@@killianlpc I believe the 1.0 boosterjet has been jettisoned with this new model...
@@MrBenHaynes It was dropped partway through the current generation I believe
When is it coming to SA??
A lot of people will buy this one if the price ain't crazy
Absolutely stunning car - so why God why there is that totally ugly chunky infotainment that looks like a big TV from 90s. Like seriously what did the designers think? "Oh yeah, lets put a screen here and then I want 10 centimeters of plastic on each side! Awesome!" ....
suzuki sell around 20k units of swift in India and same around 20k units of dzire (sedan version) per month. Total 35-40k swift-dzire per month.
😂😂😂😂... Highest selling premium hatchback is Baleno, sold 16K unit in Jan 24...Don't blabber here..
@@shivathealmighty He never said highest selling, just stated sales figures.
Don't know why you had to butt in
@@someordinarystan2692 20K is an over exaggerated figure! Not sure why are you poking your black lund here!!
I’ve had the last three generations of the Swift and love them, they have been super reliable and fun to drive. The current model I love the best and think it looks great. But being honest this new car looks bloody awful I can’t see me now getting the new version. What a shame I’ll definitely be looking elsewhere.
Tempting buy. A pity a height adjustable floor not available as standard. Makes loading so much easier when folding the seats , and the cost is minimal when taking into account the price of new cars these days.
A lovely car but even smaller cars now are bigger than ever. Everything is regulated to desth.
they did all this but then cut the swift sport... which was one of the most fun little hatches on the market... Great Job!! 😢
Fine looking car
Suzuki are very clever in delaying EV cars as they are a massive loss leader and in my opinion are doomed to be fazed out but sadly take some manufacturers with them for the billions lost.
100% will not be phased out
@@NobbyOnCars lets see what happens then Nobby its not looking rosey at the moment. The manufacturer I work for is 100% (I know for sure) loosing colossal amounts on every ev car sold so far. Based on sales so far manufacturers will not be able to sustain these losses for much longer unless big mergers take place. Out of the box the technology is flawed in so many ways and early adopters will be bitten hard for rushing into anything your dearest government mandates. The sheer amount of warranty work that is taking place alone is astromnimical. Do the maths if China is having a hard time keeping afloat then it doesn't bode well for the others. The blood bath is just starting and the clever conservative watchers will watch reap rewards in the long run with sythetic fuels that are on the horizon.
@@kadien2006 I don’t think EVs will be the only solution but I don’t see a u-turn on it either.
Hang on a minute, please explain how it's more efficient?? The previous model you used to get around 550-600km range with an auto or manual, this is got the hybrid and you get less!? How is that more efficient? I think these car industry people are lying to our faces and thinking we're not going to be aware of it. I live in Australia and I've owned glx 1.0 turbo and I used to get 530km range, Ive owned the 1.4turbo and used to get 450-460 range on a bad day in the 1.4 and I've had a friend own the base model swift in a auto and she used to get 560-600 km range soooooo how is this new car only getting 500 and with a hybrid powering it.
i own the previous model double color black&red, looks better with stealth rear doors and much better front end engine cover and lights. Also position on the road computer screen, round air flow things and round speed&RPM analog screen. (except that radar thing on the side which i don't like on previous model)
i will not buy this 2024 model Suzuki. i am going to buy new 2024 Toyota Yaris Hybrid double color. That car is so lovely !!!
I just can't get over how light it is especially for such a fully featured up to date new car.
I drive a 90's stripped down racing snake Honda at just under 1100 kilos and the only way it could transport two adults in the back is if Willy Wonka wanted me to give a lift to a couple of oompaloompas. And they'd be complaining after 100 metres. And mine has only two doors, no ABS or soundproofing, traction and cruise control is my right foot, the tech of a potato and the only airbag in the car is me. The Renault Alpine dev team worked very hard to keep the weight of that car down, weighing every nut and bolt and turning to composites and it's a two door, two seater sports car, but still a 100 kilos heavier than the Suzuki.😮
That Suzuki got it down to this weight is really very impressive. And I presume at this price point they did it without composites? Did they fill the tyres with helium or something? 😁 I'm also thinking based on such a light platform a "hot" version could be something very good indeed.
Funny you mentioned India, I bought swift 2023 CNG 2023 in India. It's amazing!
1. 1.2 litre 4 cylinder engine makes a massive difference when using CNG as fuel.
2. It gives me 34.5 kms per kg of CNG. Basically, I drove 500 kilometers in just 800 INR of fuel. Do the math.
€20 per kg seems good value
In india the price for Top model is 10500 Euros showroom
Base model 7300 euro with 6airbag, hill assist etc
Still driving 1.3 Swift from 2007 and the only thing that I don't like about it is a really small boot space and not being able to adjust the steering wheel by depth. Oh, and with years it does get a bit rusty underneath. But I would recommend it to everyone. This looks like a natural update. Hopefuly the Euro NCAP will be good.
Great, in India 🇮🇳 it will launch next month the 9th of May 2024, I think I'll wait for this one, thank you #Nobby_on_cars you explain it very well... ❤❤❤
It’s not very, er, swift, so you have to wonder why the insurance group is so high in UK.
This car's like half the price in my country, not exactly the same but similar, same 1.2L engine but localized. This newer model isn't available yet.
Have watched your video again Nobby and it's pretty much the best English language review, though on others there was a mention of heated seats don't know which model spec it's on though I would be tempted if it had a heated wheel it's on our wish list.
Compared to our 2023 SZL the instruments are worse and the warnings will annoy wonder if workshop can disable the audio? Same white highlights would have preferred a light grey. The entertainment is an obvious upgrade surely a 6 speed box could have helped justify the price rise.
Personally I like the old door handle arrangement and I suspect the bodyshape will be a bit more colour sensitive ie the old one looks good in all colours the ability to spec the roof colour will help with that and it being a tad quieter won't go amiss either.
We will go take a look in the summer as ours approaches a year old an see if it justifies the price to change as with the Tier 1 discount the old car as equipped in SZL form was a bit of a new car bargain.
Suzuki seems to be on a bit of a roll lately. I see them all over the place
Affordable, reliable, straightforward cars.
Driving a swift 1.0 turbo 6AT which is TC not CVT
The new one seems like a pass for me 😂
Good looking car
It looks awkward that front view isn’t great but seriously good value alright for the spec
I got 3rd Gen. Swift RST and this is ugly. stop the production !
100bhp? I thought is 82
Got enough space, all the toys you may want and also great fuel efficiency? Yes please. Great car
I m waiting from India bro
I don't like manual transmision especially in my country coz of to much traffic.
This got me thinking, you should do a video of top5/10 new cars under 30k in Ireland.
Are you sure it's 100 bhp.!!! I thought it was 82.bhp engine.
Yeah it’s 82. Source I was looking at was the Sport but that wasn’t clear at the time.
You forgot to mention how it fares in terms of ride comfort!😊.
It's something most reviewers seem to forget , but is a crucial attribute to many buyers.
Nobby love your vlogs keep up the great work
The Suzuki small cars have always been cracking.
It's delivers a lot because they have a massive market in Asia, particularly Japan and India
Aren't those headlights a blatant rip off of Maserati MC20?
Back look not good old fashion 😏😏
Wow hope this model makke it to South Africa😢😢😢... stunning
When is this one coming to South Africa, if the prices are good , it will sell
I think suzuki u need to launch convertible swift option
🙏🙏🙏💐💐🚩🇮🇳👍
I have the 2014 Swift Sport, still driving it after buying it new 10 years ago. Delightful car, still love the shape. I'm genuinely not keen on the shape of the new Swift and the previous model.
Drive a Sport model it's excellent
Only concern would be its cvt if its made by jatco.
Mitsubishi spacestar? way cheaper
They don’t sell cars in Ireland anymore
Nice car. Nice video
Thanks! 👍

Kudos Suzuki. It’s not my favourite car, but it’s super impressive what they deliver for 20.000€. And with a 7 year warranty.
We had a 1995 Suzuki Swift GT. No ABS, no Airbags, no crumble zones, useless to listen to radio when driving 150km/h cause the wind was so loud. But it was reliable, until i accidentally ended it’s life 🙈
150 in that car?! Crazy.
@@NobbyOnCars my top speed was 185 km/h. German autobahn, slight but long downhill section and 5km optimised driving (acceleration), to reach the downhill section with. Mighty 68 horse powers.
I only did that once, it was too scary. 😅
It's Suzuki not maruti Suzuki 😅
You couldnt buy swift in sport version in ireland, thus wont change for that one either. Shame.
Agree!
Ahh damn, they are now with a 3cyl engine😢.
you had the Irish price list on the video when I looked first day of video on youtube now it's gone where is it?
2:52
I've watched a few Japanese videos on the new swift and their top spec model includes a fold down armrest for the drivers seat, 360 degree camera, front parking sensors and electronic handbrake with hold button too. Shame they decided not to throw everything in with the European version. At least the difference between the two specs would have made more sense then.
Yeah the extra kit is not especially needed with how much the standard car has.
Well that means you can get an armrest here if you really want one!
Wouldn't care about electric handbrake, yeah they look better inside the car but they are just more to go wrong at the end of the day. Over engineered
Professional review.
Far more objective than others, like the disastrous one made by What Car?
Will consider this new one, as we had an excellent 2009 Swift, for 11 years, in our fleet.
What didn’t you like in the What Car one out of curiosity?
@@NobbyOnCars, many things proving that guy doesn't understand at all small cars segment. Like you do.
Criticizing the Swift for not having this and that when that segment needs affordable, reliable and low TCO cars.
For example, the trunk cannot be big because the length is small and it already accommodates 2 rows...
Btw, the Swift has lots of features that the bigger cars do not necessarily get.
Overall, a very poor review on What Car?, very different from yours.
Well done!
don't forget about the jazz...
Interested to know which 6 figure cars don't have blind spot?
A lot of Audi models for starters!
@@NobbyOnCars Sure, care to be more specific and mention the models?
Its cute 😂, and I love it.

Not happy about the aesthetics of the front/roofline, the extra 90kgs than the superseded model, or the myriad electronic nannies that require silencing every time you start the car.
I am impressed with the modernisation and lift in interior quality (particularly the instrument display), the practical placement of the rear door handle. Nimble grocery getter & more!
Looking good safety 😢
