Chase, I think these videos are extremely helpful especially for researching protective gear. I also think it’s great you try and reply to questions folks ask in the comments section of your videos.
I purchased the M5 Alpinestars helmet like 6mos ago, and it’s been great for the weekend warrior adventures I absolutely need more of! Matched with the tech 5 boots gives me the confidence I’m looking for. Thanks RM ATV MC for these super informative videos. It really helped me narrow down what I’ve been looking for. I would definitely suggest going to the local dealership to try out different brands and find out what fits you best before any purchase.
Thank you. I do have a suggestion though. Add how easy or hard it is to strap and unstrap with their D rings. Even with the gloves off, what a pain it is to get my low level HJC strap out of the D rings after a ride. I know Bell had it figured out in the late 70's-80's. :)
The brands that do the shared shells should just do M/L and XS/S and just include the padding for both. You’d get way less returns and people could customize the fit
I have worn glasses under goggles before. I ended up last year going to a prescription goggle insert and am happy with that as long as I am moving and my goggles don't fog up...
The white Alpinestars (#4), looks like a Storm Troopers helmet from the super hit movie Star Wars. It should go good with the modern Batman art plastic on MX bikes today. :)
Correction: Yes, a heaver helmet will hit the ground harder, but not faster, (a bit slower if accelerating). It is your head weight stopping at the same speed, so it still depends on the foam/energy absorbing material. You are very much welcome. :) Doug in Michigan.
How does the Fox V1 compare to the Bell MX-9 in terms of quality and overall feel? Also how is sizing between these two brands, if I'm size XL in Bell should I consider size L or XL in FOX (their dimensions are a bit different)?
I would take the new Fox V1 over the MX-9 due to how much lighter it is. They both, I think, are very comparable in regards to quality and fit. If you wear an XL in the bell, then I would imagine you'll be an XL in the Fox too. That being said, from a looks standpoint, it's hard to beat a Bell! - Chase
Hey great video man. I'm looking for a very light weight helmet and the Fox V1 looks great. Could you please provide a few recommendations for helmets that are similar in weight and perhaps lighter, while within the price range of the helmets discussed in the video? Would be greally appreciated, thanks. Also, are there any advantages in buying a newer year helmet rather than an older year one? Thanks
My two favorites out of this video are the Alpinestars M5 and the Formula CP. There two of my favorite fitting and are pretty comparable in weight. - Chase
I have an older fox v1 thats probably 5 or 6 years old. The bell mx9 in that red/white/blue is in my cart now as the top contender. I was also thinking of giving a hands free hydration tube an option as well such as USWE. Curious if any helmet is better for that or not. Still not sure i want to commit to it or not.
The Mipps system confuses me. Helmets used to be smooth, round shape. Then with air vents and goggle strap guides, and maybe even some abstract art in there, ridges popped up all over the helmet. Ridges that can grab the ground and twist your neck a little more. What actually works better, a mipps with a modern Star Wars helmet shell, or a Bell Moto 4 with a smooth shell? I wish Bell would bring back the Moto-4. Maybe some new protection in the shell, (if it is better). Nostalgic and functional. I bet they would sell well. I guess I have go get a Darth Vader helmet, and look like I came from outer space.
The abstract angles “deflect” during an impact. As opposed to “direct”. From what I understand…round creates opportunity for more direct impacts. At least that is what the marketing folks state. 🧐🤓😉
I wear a large, but I hate buying helmets that share a shell with XL and XXL I rather share a shell with M-L can you verify of recommended, which ones share the shell of Medium/Large, rather L/XL/XXL ( like I think the SM5 )
The most my parents spend on my helmet is like $180 I’ve never had a super expensive helmet, I want a 6D one but I can’t afford them damn things brand new 😂
Ok but did u guys notice. The v1 has gone back to the past with the designs i dont know if most of yall remever but back in like 2000-2005 these graphics where the shit. All its missijg is the chrome and it would look exactly like them old helmets 🤙

Thanks, Dustin! Sometimes I get behind but yes, I try to respond as much as I can. - Chase
Heads up to anyone looking, Alpinestars has absolutely the worst customer service.
Good to know! Shame but good to know.

We're glad to hear you're liking your gear! Thanks for the feedback and checking out the video.
If that isn’t a placed comment I don’t know what it 😂
My HJC MX2 fits perfect and was dirt cheap. If I was picking between the ones in this video , I would say the FOX takes it.
Very helpful. Great video.
Damn... the shade! 6:32

I wear a prescription glass, can you recommend me MX or dual sports helmet with eyeglasses option, for casual ride, around 150-200$
I wear glasses too and I use the Bell MX 9 adventure MIPS
If you take off the shield it's as good
I have worn glasses under goggles before. I ended up last year going to a prescription goggle insert and am happy with that as long as I am moving and my goggles don't fog up...
I have worn my actual glasses with 100% goggles and fox V1, fits great! No issues with it and it was about $225 for the helmet
i have a question wich is better ALPINESTARS S-M5 SOLID (188$) or FOX racing V1 (270$)

Which Star Wars? There's like 10+ movies at this point. 😅
I like Fox helmets the most
Thanks to this vid I just purchased the M5 helmet, thanks brother for the info🤙
Let us know what you think of the M5, once you get out and ride! Thanks for watching.

Looking between an alpine stars m5, the bell mx9, and troyleedesigns se4. I really cannot decide
Personally, I would probably choose the SE4 - Chase
@@rmatvmcI have owned all of them, Astars 🥇
I just saw your Vidio, So could you help me Which on is better or more comfortable between Sm5 N CP formula? I want to buy on of them
Formula CP would be my choice.
Alpinestars sm 5 or the newer Fox V1?
You know, I'd probably go with the new Fox. - Chase

i use the Alpinestar m5 with leatt goggles!!!!!!!!!!!
I use Fox V1 with 100% goggles.
How do you compare these ones whith Leatt 7.5 ?
The 7.5 is a solid helmet and wouldn't be a bad choice. It'll be on par with venting and safety as these helmets.

I feel like a visor for slow to moderate atv/4 wheeler rides is a waste. Just take it off and have one less obstruction.

With how many helmets we carry, you need to be more specific. Do you have a few helmets that you're considering?
Bell. They have 3 shell sizes. M & L share the same shell.
What goggles are on the bell moto 9???
That's the VSN 2.0 goggle. You can check them out here: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/riding-gear/vsn-2.0-goggle-with-silver-mirror-lens-p

I feel most “entry level” helmets are way better then a top of the line helmet 5 years ago
I wouldn't say 5 years ago, but 10 for sure. 5 Years ago we still had the 6D, Bell Carbon Flex, TLD SE5 etc. - Chase
Fox is better😊
11 months old and the Formula CP is already discontinued, wonderful 😕
Those are just colors that are discontinued, we will have the new colors for the Formula CP soon!
@@rmatvmc excellent sir, thank you! Hard to know the release cycle of some of these companies, helmet always go fast for some reason!
