You know as I see these looking back videos as we are here with the great Evander Holyfield and Evander describes how his opponent did in lifting his arm and he demonstrates it, I can see that happening its a classic move of that particular fighter in the midst of battle.. Its good that we can look back and see these fights as they took place back then Evander was a great fighter back in his prime he threw some great combinations and had an awesome uppercut we don't see that in todays boxers and he had the stamina to go along with it.. He's also right about choosing to get into a fight with a world champion for the wrong reason!

It's wild that Evander was always the smaller guy, at least by weight, coming in around 6' 1" 210 lbs
Bert Cooper was at 240-250 lb guy. Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis.
They are all 240-250 lbs or more.

Also if he was fighting with Mike Tyson trained by Kevin Rooney , Holyfield wouldnt be shit, and Lennox Lewis And Riddick Bowe both beat his ash.

@bennyadler5882 so why is it on any boxing forum that holmes is rarely talked about while the likes of george foreman gets much more press and always has?
Holmes didnt help himself by saying marciano wasnt fit enough to carry his jockstrap.
That and beating Ali were reasons for the public to dislike holmes .along with his seeming arrogance,he was never media friendly and his style was never edge of your seat stuff.
BUT for the purists he had the best jab in heavyweight history ,along with great footwork and ring IQ.
Also a great ability to climb of the canvas and win.
He certainly was not the most exciting but for me he was the best.

    • @bennyadler5882
      @bennyadler5882 16 дней назад +1

      1. Public never got to know him until comeback where he’d exorcised Ali via his own stellar accomplishments.
      2. Peter should have shut up about his brother, prompting terse Holmes comment (jockstrap).
      3. Larry was very dignified, quit rather than deal with ner do wells at Dear Lake, all those leeches, press deemed him ungrateful.
      4. Charitable, you don’t hear that. Stuart Darden got paralyzed post loss in ‘82.ish. Larry flew to San Diego for exhibition bouts x 3 chargers linemen aside from large donation for Stuart. He’s just not Ali or Frazier, his own man on his own terms.

@LeadPhalanx-zv6wx The problem with Evander is he was too much of a mommas boy in his thinking and it haunted him trough out his career. Especially with women.

@@brandonwhitner4104 It doesn't look like a problem to me she gave good advice and he followed it, even today he treats people with respect he is well spoken kind and good hearted. Where's the problem oh and he became a boxing legend (its hard to find a good woman you can't judge a man as being the issue 50% of marriages fail) Those are pleasant memories we have Good luck

It's amazing to me these boxers have head trauma trouble speaking but still remember every fight to the smallest detail

I'm sure he has some form of CTE and takes meds for it. Remember Ali at the end could sound coherent but once his morning medicine ran out he would start the tremors and soft speech.

Different parts of their brain can be affected by the head trauma. The part of their brain that controls memory can be fully intact and unaffected but the part of their brain that controls speech can be damaged or vice versa.

Bert Cooper versus Evander was a war.
For you youngins who have never seen that fight, go find it and enjoy.
A very underrated fight, that people have forgotten.
