That said, Holmes at his best would get rocked fast against Iron Mike at his best. Sad tale really, had Tyson been surrounded with different people he would’ve been the greatest to do it maybe.

      @Brocambro1 4 года назад +3

      @@flyguy7825 Exactly, remember when i was a young boxer, everytime a big arrogant guy would join the gym, to test their commitment and humility the manager would set them up for sparing with the skinniest, fastest and hardest puncher, time and time again I learned size only matter the early 1st and 2nd minutes, after that all the fights without no exception used to end up like that one with the basket ball player and the youtuber guy's fight in the opening up of last Tyson exhibition fight. From there I never been intimidated by big dudes anymore, no matter how big they look. What most people fail to understand is that like every sport, boxing is more about the mind than actually the physicality and one has to train and raise his pain tolerance to a point where he gets to a level of being able to strategize while receiving blows and able to think about tactics while fighting as larry is explaining in this video, at the novice level this is just very difficult to do instictively your body will be sending the adrenaline all over, u will be shuting down your eyes, bending down, it's just a mess. That's what happens to that basket ball guy, and that's why foreman offered to train him, cause u could tel that the guy just went from basket to boxing without going through the steps of getting his body accustomed to receiving punches or really training. But as I was saying the big dudes in my old gym who overcame that 1st beat up and the one who didn't flee or quite, after learning and training some of them became devastating fighters.

      Reading your comment I believe you actually watched the video, unlike these other shit talkers. I don't think she likes to see his ego crushed though, I believe she just likes to see cocky people get humbled. I do agree she probably wouldn't have been the best wife for Mike to have while he was undisputed champ. But I do think she would've still been a much better wife than Robin Givens.

Im an athete myself and i have large calves , most people tell me it's genetics since there are people that train just like me but have small calves. What they dont know is i have extremely flat feet and i have been using my tippy toes since i was a kid to compensate since running flat foot hurt my feet and gave me blisters. 20 years of doing that is the reason they grew , not genetics. I know some people have more fast twitch and it allegedly leads to more explosive energy but the studies on that are not completely black and white. Holmes never fought Tyson just for the money. He had enough in the bank and made sound investments. He fought Tyson for the glory and to make boxing history. His personality isn't that of someone taking a history making fight, against a prime Mike Tyson, for only the money.
    And it wasn't only 9 weeks that Holmes was given to prepare to fight Tyson. He knew a fight with Mike had been on the shelf since 1986 after he lost the rematch to Michael Spinks when Team Tyson managers Jim Jacobs and Bill Cayton tried to make a deal for Holmes to face Tyson. There's the KO magazine interview from 1986 where Holmes famously stated to Tyson to, "Show me you can kick my ass!!"
    Tyson-Holmes was thisclose to being made in '86 but HBO needed a popular and viable contender to showcase in their Heavyweight Unification Tournament and nobody was hotter that "Iron" Mike Tyson. So HBO told Team Tyson that in order to enter the tournament they had to squash the Holmes fight. So Jacobs and Cayton brokered a deal and made a promise to Holmes that when Tyson unified all 3 titles that he would get first crack at the undisputed championship.
    Instead, Tyrell Biggs got the first shot at Tyson because Tyrell's management team of The Duvas wanted to cash him out. At the Tyson-Biggs post fight in October 1987, Holmes was interviewed in the ring stating a bout with Tyson was next. That's 3 full months (12 weeks) before the Tyson-Holmes fight which was scheduled for January 22, 1988.
    Everybody complains when Tyson fans make excuses but when Tyson's opponents do the same it doesn't matter?

    • @emzid5105
      @emzid5105 2 года назад
