    For anyone new to this scanner. Be very patient and willing to take on a learning curve. You will get there. Using zip code and GPS is just fine for traveling to unknown spots, but you'll eventually want to better organize into favorites ( known as banks on most other older scanners). If you want to turn favorites on and off quickly you'll need to program quick keys. Initially doing all this is a bit confusing, but it will all make sense. There's no virtual scanners to load up when traveling to different areas...you still have to use your computer to load what is known as a profile. IMHO it gets pretty bloated when using the sentinel software if you plan on programming and organizing for many different destinations. Using just gps or zip code does load you up with whatever you want, but it's huge and disorganized. For all the scanner anal retentive, be forewarned.

      I learn pretty quick how much there is to spend a lot of time learning on the 436HP I just returned in order to buy this instead. If it weren't for the whole simulcast thing I wouldn't have bothered getting the SDS100. It's a bit annoying that this is the _only_ option in that regard.

    Just received this sds100 today off of Amazon. It works great right out of the box. My HP-2 was on and scanning while I was setting up the sds, then left ‘em both on. I found an interesting call so locked onto it and followed what happened to the kid who’s raft was capsized in a lake. Meanwhile the HP-2 just kept scanning for new calls.
    I immediately had an epiphany as soon as another call happened on the HP-2.
    With two similar scanners on at the same time I can now follow one call to completion without missing the other stuff going on out there.
    Having two scanners is a must. It just took me 45 years to figure that out.

      @@brilliant13675 Ah yes, I forgot that it is made by Bearcat. Yes it’s the best scanner I’ve ever had or seen too. I’m so glad I no longer have to program frequencies/talk groups manually or even with the computer anymore. I got the gps antenna for my car and the Klein speaker that looks like a hand mic. This thing is perfect for mobile or inside the house. I also got the leather case and it’s so rigid that it acts like a stand and doesn’t tip over as easily. The leather case also has a heavy attachment on the back that slides into a cup mount holder for the car. Whenever I’m bored on a Saturday night it’s always interesting to drive around and feel low incidents.

    For everyone about to buy this scanner, a sure fire method of avoiding breaking the battery clasp, is to press down on the battery door, whenever you need to pull the battery out or put it in.
    I've owned at least two of these scanners and never have had any problem with the battery door clasp breaking on me.
    Problem may arise when you carelessly pull on the battery door clasp, without first releasing the pressure. You see, the battery compartment door has a piece of foam that exerts pressure on the battery, in order for the battery terminals to make contact with the power circuit. This flaw in the design, came about because the initial units, used a battery with less power capacity and thus were less thicker.
    When Uniden introduced a "longer" lasting battery, they made the battery bigger, it could still be used with the scanner, however, care had to be taken to relieve the pressure on the battery door first in order to keep the battery door clasp from breaking by the sheer force of the new battery thickness.

    There's absolutely no continuity in what you're showing us… You need to explain this from the beginning and what these terms are to make this video useful.

    It should have a built-in GPS given its cost.

    • @Zipscanners1
      @Zipscanners1  7 месяцев назад

      This is something Uniden did not update on the unit. The GPS would have to be bought separately or manual location lookup done.

    This thing is a beast but I'm turned off on the dependence of a computer to do yet, even more tasks. The whole point in my life is to ditch the computer. Especially with the lunatics at the helm. Jeez, a reliable, capable radio, that stands on it's own is getting to be an impossibility anymore. All sales on hold until I decide how much dependence on the computer I want to deal with.

      @brilliant13675 Год назад

      You don't need a computer for this. Punch in zip code, or hit auto locate, and it will very easily populate a list of systems. You can even attach a GPS and it is even more accurate and updates systems in range in real time.

      Hey Eddie. You can manual program these but a lot of the frequency that are digital are easier to program. The best part is, we can do that for you. Reach out and our team will be happy to answer any questions you have.

    Why do you call the SDS100 a "Police" scanner ? Why not just "scanner"... it does WAY more than just police channels.

    • @Zipscanners1
      @Zipscanners1  Год назад

      This would be the name adopted by the community and manufacturer. But you are right, it does scan more than just police.

    The First thing you should have done was brighten the screen so we could have seen the first thing you did well as opposed to having to squint and guess.

      We would not say 98% but quite a few have gone encrypted. There are still a lot you can listen in on. You can reach out to us and we'll be happy to confirm if a scanner would make sense for you.

      на это и сканер чтобы сканировать.
