I upgraded to the Waterfall on 2 of my SDS's (not the 3rd). I believe I just wasted $40 for something like looks kind-of perty. Have no use for the new scanner, unless it has full functionality or discriminator out.
I usually just listen to the podcast, but I haven't been leaving the house as much, and happened to be at the computer seeing that this was the next thing up in the youtube videos, so, just clicked play here.
WOW what a great surprise thank you, you have a way of making dust off my credit card Phil, you did the same thing to me when the SDS100 came out with your live unboxing! Glad I got one and never looked back, just realized that was 2018! Scanner Master has the new models listed now with the BCD160DN listed for $249 & the 260 for $349. Can’t wait for your unboxing and more details about the Uniden upgraded for the SDS scanners. 👍
Love the podcasts love the RUclips channel and the great news from bearcat. I will definitely be upgrading to the new scanner from my current 125AT. OK Whistler your next please jump on board in 2024
Did I hear that right, no p25? Most everything in SC is phase 1 p25. Phase 2 is coming. On DMR I can hear hams....WOW, can't wait. Nxdn, a few departments. Most going to privacy.
All the agencies now operating in secure mode are eliminating the transparency of these agencies. If I’m not mistaken the fcc discourages local, county, and state agencies from going secure for this reason.

Anyone have thoughts or feedback on the 160/260? I’ve read a couple of messages that they seem to not be as sensitive as the 125, along with other shortcomings. Opinions?
Many states and places ARE NOT encrypted. If you are into the "hobby", try listening to other things like Business etc. Try Frequency Hunting and track down the users, color codes, talkgroups, etc and submit to RadioReference.
@@WXFD-Media I don’t disagree with you. The main reason I ever listened to the scanner was to have a quick understanding of what was going on around me. Now I have to wait for an official announcement, it is ok though, because I fully trust the government.
Hmmm, my sentinel is upgraded to 2.05.3 but when I go to update scanner firmware says I have the current version which it is not. When I go into settings there’s no waterfall choice. Any ideas?
I'm surprised no one has hacked the sds scanners yet look at what they have done with the quansheng uv-k5 radios just with firmware I'd love to see them get at the sds100 and Crack that sucker wide open with firmware mods! Also everything needs USB C charging how about a battery mod from bearcat that's drop in like thier upgraded battery was that you can just shove a USB C charger into the side of that doesn't take 4 hrs to charge?
I've tried to get this info there before anyone wastes their money: My Issues with buying this "new" scanner:" Yes, it does NXDN and DMR Conventional. DMR/NXDN TRUNKING NOT POSSIBLE and P25 NOT INCLUDED (possible future upgrade) WHAT they are NOT telling you (from what I have gathered): Some of this stuff matters to more advanced users, others may not care IT WILL display the COLOR CODE or RAN (and apparently Area Code) (and can be programmed for a specific code) WILL NOT DISPLAY TALKGROUP NUMBERS. So you won't know what talkgroup is actually transmitting. You won't be able to only listen to a particular talkgroup and not another one. WILL NOT DISPLAY UID/RIDs (Radio ID numbers). So you can't differentiate those talking or name the radios in the software There is not enough room on the screen for this, plus with this type of scanner (Banks), I don't think it could work with a list of RIDs. WILL NOT have "1 FREQUENCY DMR" type "UNIDEN TRUNKING" programming. You just enter in a frequency and it decodes the audio, but is not giving you the information (if you want, like, or are used to it in the previous models). This does not have the architecture, this is a BANK memory. (hardware driven radio, not software) According to the Owner's Manual, it will show if the frequency is CAP, CON, DT3, DMR, IDS, NX4, NX8, XPT, P25/DAT (which will be skipped) We don't know what the future of Rail Scanning is going to be like when it moves to NXDN. There may or may not be any talkgroups in use, but I'm sure there will be Radio IDs. (some conventional NXDN uses talkgroups, but a majority just use "Group Call") 2 different railroads can use 2 different RAN codes. Are you able to program if for only 1 code (so you don't have to hear the other one?) All I'm trying to do, it help those that just want to go out and buy one immediately without thinking about it's full capabilities. The programming software really doesn't show a lot either. www.uniden.info/download/ (It appears that the 260DN manual for English may have been uploaded as the French version)
I am still waiting for a scanner that does MPT-1327. More and more people in the U.S. are using it (a lot of power companies) and it is widely used in Europe so the European version would probably be the first to add it.
